About the author:
Cheryl Robson is an award-winning writer, editor and filmmaker who has commissioned, designed and edited many acclaimed full-colour books including PL Henderson’s Unravelling Women’s Art and The Arab-Israeli Cookbook by Robin Soans which won a Gourmand award for Best Foodbook and a Special Jury Prize for Peace. She has edited over 100 books including a series on James Baldwin, Jane Austen and Marilyn Monroe. Cheryl led the campaign and commissioned the statue of Virginia Woolf by Laury Dizengremel for Richmond, the first bronze statue of the author in the UK.

Love & Frida Kahlo feels like a beautifully curated conversation between art, history, culture, and desire. Frida remains such a towering figure in Latin American culture because of the way she turned pain, identity, love, and selfhood into an unmistakable visual language, and this anthology honors that legacy without flattening the woman behind the icon.
I especially loved the decision to pair her paintings, photographs, letters, and personal reflections with poetry from acclaimed writers around the world. The result feels rich and layered—part art book, part literary anthology, part intimate portrait—and a fitting tribute to an artist whose life and work continue to inspire far beyond the canvas.

The combination of Frida Kahlo’s paintings, poetry, and details from her life made this such a beautiful collection. I loved seeing her art alongside the poems and getting to know more about the woman behind the paintings. A truly lovely read.

As an admirer of Frida Kahlos paintings it was very interesting to to get to know the person behind her colorful and expressive work. Love and Frida Kahlo is a biography of Kahlos life through history, exerpts from her diaries and letters, her contemporaries, lovers and friends. It's a wonderful way to learn more, not just about Kahlo, but also about the time in which she was working and all the pain and philosophy that went into her paintings.

I will always read a book about Frida Kahlo and was excited to read Love & Frida Kahlo. This was a fantastic biography of Frida's life. I loved seeing rare photographs of Frida and her family and friends. I ended up learning so many new things about Frida. The excerpts from her letters and diaries were amazing. It was also very interesting to learn about her lovers and friends. I found myself researching many of the people named in the book. The poems by various poets from around the world were wonderful. This book was a wonderful tribute to Frida and a gift to readers.

Frida Kahlo is endlessly fascinating, so it was a joy to read this beautifully curated book of her interesting and colourful paintings, together with poems from mostly Latin American poets. I found the writing quite factual, but it was an extremely informative book about her life, and work. I also enjoyed the potted biographies of her friends, and lovers, who each deserve a book to themselves! Most of them probably have one, or more.
It is quite depressing, because she had such a painful time, but she certainly lived a very full life in spite of it!
