San Francisco is home to stunt double/Zen student Darcy Lott and this time out she’s thrilled to be back with her brother Mike, who walked out of her life twenty years earlier. She’s thrilled to introduce him to her city by the bay and even happier when he decides to stay on, getting his own place. Strangely, he seems to be having a lot of very serious accidents; or maybe they’re not accidents at all, but rather a series of attacks. But why? Mike claims to have no idea why anyone would want to hurt him, but Darcy isn’t so sure, and after discovering his home is being rented out to all and sundry who need a place to crash, she decides to search his apartment. When she finds a gun, she begins to question whether she can trust her brother, if she even knows him at all after all these years. San Francisco Shines bright in this delightful series

Darcy Lott is a very interesting woman. She is a stunt double and a Zen practitioner. Darcy comes from a big, close family but one of her brothers, Mike, disappeared from San Francisco for twenty years. He finally returned but now he is in trouble again, and Darcy makes it her mission to find him again and find out what the trouble is, especially after other siblings start being targeted. The past has come back to haunt them, and Darcy uses her Zen koans to get life back on track. This was a very entertaining mystery with a strong sense of place that gave me a lot of insight into Zen practice. I highly recommend it.
