Description
Ben and Kat are building an ordinary life together when they suddenly become entangled in events set in motion many years earlier.
At the centre of those events stands Cardinal Salvatore Rizottello, Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, a man whose ambitions reach beyond his position within the Church and towards the papacy itself.
For most of his life, Salvatore has pursued an idea others would consider impossible; that resurrection need not remain only a matter of faith. More than two thousand years after the resurrection of Christ, he believes he has found a way to redefine its place within Christianity, not as belief alone, but as something that can be replicated.
But Salvatore's plan cannot be fulfilled without: Ben and Kat.

Intriguing, atmospheric and thought-provoking. 100% recommended!
The Incomplete drew me in with a plot that develops beautifully, gradually revealing new layers of intrigue and keeping me curious throughout. The characters are brilliantly rich and complex, and the symbolism gives the story real depth.
I particularly enjoyed the darker connection to the Catholic Church and the Vatican, which creates a fascinating and atmospheric backdrop. Fans of Dan Brown will recognise the appeal of its religious mysteries and hidden truths, but this feels more reflective and psychologically complex. It doesn’t simply entertain, it raises questions about faith, memory, power and how far people are prepared to go in search of answers. A compelling book that stayed in my mind after I finished reading.

This is a review of the psychological thriller/mystery, adult fiction story The Incomplete by author W.S. Sierko.
The story follows couple Ben and Kat who become entangled in a far-reaching power struggle that go back to the time of Jesus. What happens when a person in power uses that same power and drive to set about to try and conquer physical death? Before going further, I will post trigger warnings for:
• Religion
• Christianity
• Violence
• Blood
The book is an atmospheric and psychological mystery and thriller. There is so much going on in the story and looking at my notes I noticed there were more questions than answers. Even as I finished the story and read the author’s notes, there was so much left unspoken.
W.S. Sierko does an amazing job using descriptive language to set the scenes in the story and keep the tone steady and almost hopeless throughout the story. Ben’s slow descent through the story was equal parts fascinating and confusing. I will be reading it again to see if I notice things I may have missed during the first read.
I found the characters compelling and the cat-and-mouse feel throughout the story kept me invested from cover to cover. They each had their own motivations, characteristics, and wants in the story. Each page made you feel like there was so much left unspoken, and even towards the end, the mystery persisted. For the life of me, I could not tell where the story was going or what would happen.
Being a former Roman Catholic and altar server, I found the ritual behind the religious parts of the story fascinating. Sierko did a fantastic job with the accuracy of Mass rituals, and that accuracy helped to keep the immersion. The reader could tell the care Sierko took in the accuracy of his settings, or at least as much as he could while keeping it purely fiction.
The only thing I wished I would have seen in the story was a more concrete resolution to all the threads laid out during the story. I do not think the story would have benefitted from a Sherlockian end game exposition, but some more explanation at the end could have been helpful in tying the threads together myself as a reader. That does not mean the story suffers, on the contrary, it strengthens the story because it still opens theorizing after the reader finishes.
W.S. Sireko’s The Incomplete hits shelves on September 30, 2026. Make sure you add this gem to your TBR.

The Incomplete by W.S. Sierko was such an intriguing and unsettling read. I really enjoyed how the story pulled me in and slowly revealed more about what was happening. There was a constant feeling that something wasn’t quite right, and I loved that sense of uncertainty as I tried to piece everything together.
The story kept me curious throughout, and I especially enjoyed the mystery surrounding the characters and their circumstances. The more I learned, the more questions I had, which made it difficult to put the book down. I liked the way the tension gradually built rather than giving everything away too quickly.
What I enjoyed most was the overall atmosphere. There was something eerie and uncomfortable about the story that stayed with me, and I appreciated how the author used that feeling to keep me invested. It had enough mystery and suspense to keep me turning the pages while still giving the characters room to develop.
Overall, I really enjoyed The Incomplete. It was mysterious, unsettling, and engaging, and I liked the way the story continued to unfold. I’d definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy psychological suspense, mystery, and stories that leave you questioning what’s really happening.
