Nothing stays buried forever.

Nessa Thorne survived her first year at Confluence Academy—barely. With an ancient water dragon tethered to her soul and rumors of her power spreading beyond the academy walls, she's no longer just an offering fighting to stay alive. She's a threat.

Confluence becomes more dangerous than ever when survivors of an attack on a rival school arrive seeking refuge. An Empire inquisitor has come with them, and all his questions point at Nessa. Worse yet, a dark presence has infiltrated her magical bond with Raith, making her doubt the man she loves when she needs him most.

With Confluence's brutal training intensifying and her friends caught in the crossfire, Nessa must decide where her true allegiance lies. Because the most lethal enemy yet might be the one she's bound to her own heart.
