On the slopes at Saint-Moritz, a fine English family of the sort who love their dogs more than their offspring meets an outrageously rich, suspiciously beautiful couple from New York. Hamish Gator and his three grown children are wrestling with financial troubles and the question of who will take over their empire – built around a grand Mayfair private members club. The new-money Wolffs, meanwhile, are looking for an in.

Social faux pas aside, it's a convenient, champagne-fuelled match – except that, as the families' lives intertwine, it becomes ever harder to tell who is using whom, and how far each might go. Or just how much fun any of them is having, really. On this witty and debaucherous tour of the playgrounds of the ultra-wealthy, What Fun skewers, with rapier observation worthy of Evelyn Waugh, the deep insecurities and staggering ambitions of the upper classes.
