Twenty years ago, a series of ritual murders ended with the death of the man believed responsible. Now the killings have begun again – and DCI Kenny Murrain must discover whether someone is copying the past, or whether the truth was never what it seemed.

Another unputdownable police thriller by Alex Walters

When the naked body of a young man is found in the River Irwell, his throat cut and strange symbols carved into his flesh, DCI Kenny Murrain is faced with a murder that seems to have no motive and no explanation.

Then another victim is found.

As Murrain and his team search desperately for a connection, the evidence points towards a notorious series of ritual killings from twenty years ago – and Cameron King, the man believed responsible.

King died before he could be arrested, leaving behind notebooks filled with bizarre theories. Now someone appears to be killing again.

The deeper Murrain digs into the old investigation, questions begin to gather around a case everyone thought had been solved decades ago.

But Murrain's strange instincts are telling him something else. Something about this case is wrong …
