An absurdist romp where the romance is devilish and the comedy is divine.

For the demon Laquistra, the choice between being married off by her immortal, control freak of a father or conquering the entire world out of spite is easy. It’s the “making it happen” part that proves challenging. When Laquistra’s impulsive invasion struggles in the chilly Christmas season, she meets bad boy Steven Kleir—bad because he has a terrible work-life balance and a job that’s slowly killing him. Not to mention, he also engages in famously dangerous activities like thinking (the original sin).

When a demonic contract goes wrong, causing Laquistra to accidentally perform an act of charity, instead of gaining a mindless slave she finds herself with a grateful friend (embarrassing). Out of nowhere, Steven is bestowed a whole week of surprise vacation, and the pair become unlikely allies as they both fight to escape overbearing parents and soul-crushing careers in a terroristic bid for freedom.

As their global conquest unfolds, Steven challenges Laquistra to consider if world domination is really what she wants or if there are loftier goals than total control and subjugation—conditions they’ve both experienced in every part of their lives. Among the chaos and conquest, one truth is clear: when aspiring, with a conquering heart, to take over the world, one must avoid the biggest pitfall of all. Falling in love.
