He needed her more than anything but his past would forever keep them apart.

Jules Wynd was supposed to one day manage the family estate in the Cape Colony, but matters hadn’t gone as planned. Instead, upon completion of his education, Jules purchased a commission to join his closest friend in fighting Napoleon. What he hadn’t counted on was falling in love with his best friend’s sister before he left for the Continent.

Adeline Dutton gave her heart and virtue to Jules Wynd before he went off to war. He promised to return so that they could marry, but he never did. Instead, Jules disappeared as soon as he was back in England. Before she can let go of the past, Adeline needs to know why.

Jules couldn’t return to Adeline. He wasn’t even fit to be around his family so he hid himself away in a cottage where guilt ate at him. When Adeline arrives at his door and demands answers, he is forced to confront what truly happened at Waterloo. Can their love withstand the secrets that have kept them apart?
