Description

Deep in the enchanted Brazilian forest of Mungará, Kiné searches for happiness, while Marzul, a jaguar, sets out to discover the secret of beauty and harmony. Though their journeys begin separately, their paths eventually cross, opening the door to new discoveries about themselves and the world around them.

Boy Jaguar Jaguar Boy is a lyrical picture book about identity, belonging, and the unexpected connections that help us see ourselves in new ways. Through evocative illustrations and a poetic narrative, this distinctive work of Brazilian children's literature explores universal questions of self-discovery and connection, inviting readers to look beyond appearances and discover the beauty in what brings us together.

Written by Nara Aragão Fonseca and Renata Roberta Azevedo, illustrated by Guilherme Lira, and translated into English by Daniel Hahn, Boy Jaguar Jaguar Boy brings the richness and imagination of Brazilian storytelling to English-speaking readers.

The original Brazilian edition was selected for the BRAW Amazing Bookshelf at the 2026 Bologna Children's Book Fair, an international showcase celebrating outstanding children's books from around the world.
