Description

When the frantic pace of her Washington, D.C. life becomes too much for her to bear, Willow St. Claire takes refuge in the North Georgia Mountains. She buys a bookstore, hoping to spend her days talking to customers about the latest releases, and her evenings in the quiet oasis of her mountain retreat. Alone in her cabin, two miles away from the nearest neighbor, Willow must learn to cope with the terror of her past, heal from the loss of her mother, and maintain a relationship with a teenaged daughter who refuses to leave D.C. where she lives with her father. But a knock at Willow’s kitchen door late one night, sets off a series of events that will shatter her newly found peace and tranquility, and threaten to trigger another breakdown. Willow has held tightly to her own version of the truth for over three decades, because for her, real truth is far too disturbing to acknowledge.

I really enjoyed this book. Filled with plenty of mystery, suspense, and twists. This book kept my interest from beginning to end. I highly recommend.

Well this story was all over the place with the areas covered in the plot but somehow the author managed to pull them all together nicely. I could not stop reading this book and finished it very quickly.

Willow St. Clare begins having panic attacks and nightmares. She seems to be unable to cope with the regular and seemingly privileged life of wife, mother, and freelance writer. A lot of time is spent showing how unfair her husband, Garrett, is to her. It is only halfway through the book that it is revealed there was an incident in Willow's childhood that explains the panic attacks and nightmares. In addition to the troubled relationship with her husband, Willow also has a difficult relationship with her teenage daughter, Grace. Grace is a spoiled teenager but realistically portrayed.

Eventually stress and anxiety cause Willow to choose to move away from Washington DC and into an isolated cabin in mountains of Georgia. It is here that both Willow's family stresses and her past catch up to her and the action begins. I won't reveal more and spoil the story.

This book was easily read and held my interest. Thank you to Netgalley and Caitlin Hamilton Marketing and Publicity for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Part drama, part thriller, this is a well paced book with enough twists and turns to make it interesting. Some parts were predictable, but overall a nice fast read. I didn't care for the twist thrown in on the last couple of pages. I thought the book would have been fine without that. Unless the author is trying to lead into a sequel, otherwise it just leaves too many questions.

Intriguing book. I picked it up because it dealt with a bookstore (always catnip for me in a storyline!) But I got captivated because of the underlying mystery. Some parts I didn't care for (didn't like some of the characters and their relationships irritated) but overall this was quite fascinating.
