Description

Anna keeps to herself in rural North Carolina, raising her younger brother and never dreaming she might not be human. A ship descends from the sky and the handsome alien, Varick, proclaims that she is the long-lost ruler of his planet, forced to flee from their world by an experiment gone wrong. Determined to discover her heritage, she journeys with Varick to their abandoned planet. Along the way, Varick strengthens her belief in herself as she struggles to be the leader her people need. Anna discovers that as soon as they return, the Council will force her to marry a man she’s never met, even while her heart is drawn towards Varick. A romance between the Vadana and her Protector is forbidden above all, and can only end in Varick’s death. A prophet warns Anna and Varick that they can heal their solar system, but they can’t let anything stand in their way. This is a book about a young earth girl finding out she was a long lost heir to a throne on another planet. I enjoyed how the main lead did not like settling for the status quo and she used her power to effect change. There was a resolution to the dilemma presented in the book and the problems were resolved. Some of the book seemed a little predictable but overall it was a nice, light pleasant read. The connection between the lead and her best female friend was a nice touch.

This is a well written story that has all the needed elements for a good read for most young adults. The science fiction theme is not overpowering or too technical and is used as the theme not as a lesson in science possibilities. It is more fantasy in many ways dealing with prophecies and epic quests. The adventures that the primary character goes through enhance the character giving her more depth and making her more interesting

This was a fantastic read. With brilliant characters especially Anna and varick. I could see this as a movie. It would be great. It was a lovely tea. I loved the ending too. Highly recommended. 5*. Thanks to Netgalley for the Arc.

Anna lives with her younger brother that she is raising named Brendan. Anna has a flower shop at the end of town and tends to her own garden. But Anna nor Brendan were close to any of the townspeople they were avoided by the townspeople when possible. But her parents had stayed away from the townspeople and it carried on to Anna and her brother. But Anna does have a best friend and that is Hannah. One day out of nowhere a spaceship lands and a man named Varick asks for Anna. Anna steps forward but has no idea what this man wants especially when he calls Anna “ your majesty”. Varick told her she was the ruler of another planet and her people needed her and she was to go with him and return. Anna doesn’t believe him and goes back home. Later on Varick goes to her home proves there is a spaceship in her cellar behind a fake wall and there was also a message from her dead father. Anna parents had died ten years earlier. So then Anna, her brother, and Hannah leave on the space ship.
I didn't think I would but i really liked this story. I liked the plot and characters slot. I didn’t like how the councilman tried to force Anna to marry someone she didn’t know, Especially since Anna had developed feelings for Varick and he for her even though it was strictly forbidden. Varick was also helping Anna to develop into the leader she needed to be. I really liked the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.
