This summer, Nathaniel Cavanaugh vacations in Lobster Cove to spend quality time with his kids after his estranged wife’s tragic death. Successful and well-connected, he is on the fast-track to the highest legal positions in the country, but his family life suffers. After an accident throws Val nearly into his lap and costs her a job opportunity, Nathaniel surprises himself by overlooking her outlandish appearance and lack of qualifications to offer her a job as his nanny for the summer.

Valdosta McKinley wishes for an internship at a Paris Art Institute to use her newly acquired art-history skills. She knows Nathaniel could never develop feelings for a girl from a trailer in a rural West Virginia holler—a lesson she learned the hard way years earlier.

After the passing of his wife Nathaniel Cavanaugh has decided he needs to take a vacation from his job as a lawyer to spend time with his children. Arriving in Lobster Cove though an accident brings Val right into the path of this vacationing family costing her an opportunity at a job that she had really wanted.

After Val explains the loss of her job opportunity Nathaniel sees though how Val interacts with his children and decides to offer her the job of his nanny for the summer since he doesn’t know really how to connect with the kids after the loss of their mother. After spending time together these two find themselves drawing closer and closer.

Change of Heart is a nice little romance read not without the ups and downs of a relationship forming but with one thing I love to see, the children being included and loved by the romantic interest. There’s nothing like rooting for a romance when first and foremost the kids already love the person involved.

Val and Nathaniel both come from completely different worlds so there is the growing to know one another and where they’ve come from along with the struggles of getting over their differences. Definitely a case of circumstances bringing together these opposites that end up attracted to one another.

Overall, lovely setting and characters to make up a nice little romance read.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a sweet story between Nathaniel and Val. She has come to Lobster Cove for job at a art Gallery and widower Nathaniel has come to vacation with his two kids. He and Val come to know one another through a happenstance accident. She needs a job and soon becomes a nanny for Nathaniel's kids. Sparks fly between the two and they have a hard time denying their feelings She is a girl from West Virginia and doesn't she is good enough for Nathaniel and wants to study art in Paris. Could have done without the snobby in laws. I loved this cause it was just what I needed. and everyone got their happily ever after! Jennifer Moore is a talented writer with the ability to pull you into her stories. Cant wait for the next of the series.!

If I had to pick just one word to describe this book, I would choose CHARMING. The cute little beachtown was charming. The characters were charming. The romance was charming. I read this charming book in one setting. When I finished I felt happy, yet I wanted to hang out with Val and Nathaniel in Lobster Cove more! I've loved Jennifer Moore's historical romance novels, but she's proven her contemporary can be just as fun.

Dammit, pay attention to your kids!

You do a good deed, and end up hurt...

Haha, Ruby my girl, you've got a way with words.

It's nice how she is constantly thinking of the kids rather than herself.

Boy, is he desperate!

I'm with her on this. Summer is time to have fun, especially when you're little.

I like the idea of a memory book.

I can't imagine not being able to get fresh seafood.

It sounds like his wife was too busy being bitter to be much of a helpmate. She probably didn't make him feel like she needed his help with the kids, but got mad when he didn't offer.

It's so cute how Finn talks about himself in the third person.

Boys will be boys.

He's such a snob.

His mother-in-law is horrible.

Valdosta "Val" was waiting for interview when she saw a boy Fin who just ran in front of trolley. Nobody was near Fin and Val got into action and saved Fin from a tragic accident. Fin's dad Nathaniel's first impression of Val wasn't a rescuer, her make up, clothes looked bad and looked inappropriate in his eyes. Well, he should't judge by appearances.
Fin was cling on to Val and he wouldn't let go after the accident and she was the only one who could calm him at that moment. Val lost her job interview at the gallery due to the accident and Nathaniel was in desperate need of a sitter for the summer.
Kids were bonding with Val better than Nathaniel. He lost his wife less than a year ago and he thought this summer would bring him and kids together but his job was getting in the way and he desperately needed a nanny for his kids.
Val just moved up from a small town in Virginia and she was pursuing her dream of working at Paris. That was her life long goal and this job at the gallery would have given her an opportunity but that was cut short due to missing an interview.
Now, Nathaniel is trying to convince Val to take the job as a nanny and offering her an internship at BFA. She loved the kids right away and she loved the idea of working at BFA so she decided to be a nanny for Nathaniel.
Nathaniel and Val was comfortable with each other even though their social background was total opposite. As the summer goes, they find time to talk to each other and they open up to each other like they never have been with other people.
They were feeling comfortable with each other but his mother-in-law doesn't feel as comfortable with Val. She makes comment like she is second citizen. She is rude and snobby. . .
As they are back in Boston and back to routine without Val. His daughter wanted to go back to Lobster cove and she wants Val back. His life long dream doesn't seem as important as he looks at his daughter's eyes.
Natheniel's dream and Val's dream is getting in the way to getting together. What will they do to find their happines??
It was great read and enjoyed the story between kids and Nathaniel and Val.

Change of Heart is a sweet love story about finding love where and when you least expect it!

Val is a determined young woman, who has sacrificed her high school years caring for her family in the hollers of West Virginia. She has finally graduated college and eager to begin work at an art gallery in Maine to build her resume for an internship in Paris. Nathaniel is a recent widower with two small children, who decides to spend the summer in Maine to help reconnect with his children and work a bit less. Fate has other plans and crashes Val into Nathaniel's life literally.

Val's tender nature and compassion for both Nathaniel and his children is touching, and her determination and independent spirit in seeking out jobs and friends is inspiring. The love story is quite charming.

My only criticism of Change of Heart is the cliched different side of the tracks theme, which seems overdone and a bit out of character for Nathaniel, who does not seem the type to be fooled or cajoled into judgement of others.

I have been debating about 3.5 stars or 4, since there are no half stars I went for 4 because the last quarter of the book I really enjoyed. Now that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the beginning part but for me it wasn't my favorite book by this author. There were different aspects of it that I felt dragged on but then there were others scattered throughout that I just loved.

It's always interesting to me to see how two complete strangers have a moment of happenstance, meet and eventually fall in love. I think it's just absolutely amazing. You think about how many people there are in the world and how you can go about your day everyday and not quite connect with those around you. You connect but not in a romantic, fall in love forever together type of way. But then one day there's this person and be it love at first sight or a small feeling starting to develop right away and these two people end up together. I love those stories, they amaze me, especially since it is constantly happening all around us everyday. Love is beautiful and fragile and one small instant can help it bloom fully or can cause it to shrivel and die.

Val is a very giving and loving person. She has served and helped everyone around her throughout her whole life. Her mother passed away when she was young, leaving her to raise her siblings. Through all the financial struggles she succeeds at getting her art history degree and is ready to step out on her own, get an amazing job, receive a sterling letter of recommendation and ultimately end up in Paris at a very prestigious art historian internship.

Nathaniel is trying to keep his young family thriving after the loss of his wife. He takes his two young children with him to a small town on the coast, rents a house and thinks he can manage work and family all at the same time. He carries a lot of guilt over his relationship with his wife as well as her death. Life should be so simple and easy to manage but everything is topsy turvy and almost spiraling out of control.

At these two moments of stress and very tender footing there is a collision. Quite literally. Nathaniel's young son steps in front of a trolley and Val is heading to her interview. She selflessly steps in and saves Finn from being hit, only to end up hurting herself in the process. This collision is the beginning to a domino effect. Val's perfect interview is now gone yet in it's place is the possibility of a nanny position for the summer then a better job at the Museum in Boston and then finally on to her dream intern in Paris. Nathaniel sees the love and trust shared instantly between Val and his two children Ruby and Finn. Now all he needs to do is convince Val to continue sharing that love for the summer with his family and everyone will get what they what and need.

One small hiccup though...two very different people from two very different sides of the tracks and extremely different backgrounds. Nathaniel was born and raised in the elite society of Boston and his whole career is leading him to higher and higher political positions. Val is from the deep south, has a very thick accent, was raised in the holler in a trailer home and her fashion sense is a far cry from the society ladies of Boston. Can these two worlds collide and continue to co-exist or will all the turmoil from the differences eventually lead Val and Nathaniel two separate ways by the end of the summer.

This was a sweet story of two people trying to figure out life and themselves. Are the dreams we pick and choose truly what's going to make us happiest? Or could the possibility of altering our dreams bring us more happiness than we could ever have imagined?

Any individual relationship has so many struggles and trials that really are tested by how the people react, respond and proceed. Are they willing to sacrifice or will the small amount of time be enough to enjoy and then move on.

I felt that the writing style/narrative of the story at times was almost like watching a picture slowly being revealed, or like watching an old movie reel without sound where the small pictures eventually create the full image. I don't know if that makes sense or not, hopefully it does. I felt like I was right in the picture/movie at moments and then other times stepping back just observing.

Overall it was a sweet story. Some moments I was upset over and others were written so beautifully that I was grinning or close to tears. I have loved every book that Jennifer Moore has written, she is one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to see where this series goes. I know I didn't share much about the plot but more ramblings and thoughts in my brain after digesting this novel. I did have moments that weren't my favorite but overall there were many moments that I did enjoy a lot.

As far as content it was very clean. There are some kisses and hand holding. I would recommend for anyone who loves a good clean romance novel.

I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Happy Reading!!!

This is my first book by this author but it definitely will not be the last. I really enjoyed this story which took me by surprise being as its very different than what I normally read. This story is very thin on romance and is rated G. Beyond a few platonic kisses there is no sex scenes at all in this story. Even with how tame this story was, I absolutely loved it.

Part of the reason I loved it is the great writing and the very fun characters. Val is described as this hick southerner from a tiny town in the south where she is the only one who ever went to college. She dresses very tacky but inside she is a big puddle of sweetness. Only the other hand she wants a sophisticated job, working in an art gallery.

Enter Nathaniel, who is a single dad widower. His wife died 9 months before and he is on vacation with his kids for the summer. He had a very bad marriage and despite that he loves his kid and has no bitterness. He is in fact a big teddy bear and is sweet too.

After Val saves his son and the kids fall hard for her, he wants to hire her as a nanny. She wants a job in an art museum and only agrees to be a nanny if he gets her an art job after. The majority of the book is about how her and Nathaniel become more than nanny/boss and become more like close friends. I loved how protective he is of her. As to the romance it is very light. There are no real dates. Nathaniel takes her to a garden party and thats about it. But it is a really sweet and fun story and very character driven.

Despite the G rating I really enjoyed it even though I typically like more romance and more sex in my stories. I loved it so much I plan to read the next story about Seth, Nathaniel's friend the doctor.
