Description

Whether you know it or not, Satan is obsessed with bringing you to ruin--your marriage, your family, your career, your finances. . .nothing is off limits. Satan wants to take it all. The Bible says in John 10:10: "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy". . .and just when you let down your guard and are at your weakest point, Satan will attack. In A Wanted Man, Jason Cruise—author, speaker, and producer—explains what life looks like from behind enemy lines, what Satan has on his mind at all times, what you can do to win the war against your soul, and how you can win again if you have already failed. A must-read for every man who is a follower of Christ.

Jason Cruise has a passion for leading and teaching men how to grow in their spiritual journey. This is the first book by Cruise that I have read, and I thought it was excellent. He primarily writes books and speaks at conferences aimed at men, and his books are centered around hunting or the outdoors. This book, however, will interest all men. This book is saturated with scripture, and Cruise uses examples that almost any man can relate to: hunters, golfers, athletes, sports fans, and business professionals. He also tells personal stories and gives examples of specific techniques he has used in his own life. There are great companion videos that you are prompted to watch on Jason Cruise.com before certain sections throughout the book. I really enjoyed the compassion and insight in the videos.

Satan is the enemy of all Christians. He is constantly hunting us and searching to expose our weaknesses. Cruise points out that as Christian men we cannot just hope our way through life. We have to have a biblical plan for winning. We would. The war when Jesus died for our sins, but the battle rages on every day until He comes again.

The idea for this book, Cruise says, stems from his study of John 10:10 - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." Cruise reminds us of the importance of being vigilant and situationally aware. As I read I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 16:13 - "Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong."

Overall this is a very solid book that I would recommend to all men to serve as a wake up call to live how God commanded us to live. I received this as a free ARC from Shiloh Run Press, Barbour Publishong on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A Wanted Man has a key message for men (and women) of God: we have a target on our back. Satan wants us dead (John 10:10) and is permanently accusing us to the Father. This is an important message: when you're in a war the first thing you need to know is who is your enemy? Who are you fighting against? Cruise does a great job outlining the tactics that he has seen the enemy use against various men in his life.

Cruise's style is succinct and clear which is good for men. The book is full of great soundbites which men will enjoy because they're easy to recall and write down. There's no fluff, he just calls it and backs up everything he says with both Scripture and the testimony of other men. Cruise is a committed hunter and he uses a lot of hunting imagery and some stories to help communicate his messages which again will appeal to me.

He also provides links to some 2-3 minute videos on his website which is a great idea. Here he speaks direct to the camera and we see and hear his passion for Jesus, for men and for helping them be aware of the enemy's ways. However, I found much of the content in these videos was a repetition of the words in the book plus one of two of the videos were in the wrong order and I couldn't find the last one. Hopefully this can be fixed up before the launch date or it may reflect the fact I'm reading an earlier version of the book.

Cruise provides plenty of examples of men who tripped up, however, his message would have been even more powerful by sharing his own personal experiences with grappling with his own sinful behaviour and how he's used the Word, prayer and connection with others to help transform himself.

This is a worthy contribution to the Christian Living catalogue of Men's Issues as too many of us are not aware of the insidious nature of the enemy's tactics or we forget when we need to put on our spiritual armour each and every day.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I opened this book, it was a free book and I thought ahh whatever, I'll read it. It's not all that long with only 8 chapters and each being able to be read in a single sitting. You will want to have a computer near or your phone near so you can watch the videos! they are amazing! You'll keep looking over your shoulder. Don't let Satan in.
