Description
Successful artist Lenka Majewska has recently been widowed for the second time. Now she's in her sixties, the last person she expects to stride back into her life is Cluny Crichton, the handsome, debonair laird's son she married at eighteen and left less than a year later. Everything seems to be set for a second chance at a successful relationship with him. But Lenka knows now what she didn't know in 1968: they should never have married in the first place, because of who Cluny's father is...Can they win happiness now, or will they be forever dogged by a type of love that Lenka recognises as almost the last taboo?

A fascinating and unusual love story and a story about the nature of love and of identity. The writing is beautiful, the characters intriguing and there is much at a metaphorical and metaphysical level in this thought-provoking tale, There is plenty to consider and this would be a rewarding book club choice. because it raises unusual and potentially controversial issues.. I enjoyed it.
