Description

The economies of Earth's nations were tanking. It was a world full of desperate people; the homeless and dispossessed were everywhere. It was a world ripe for human Separatists, whose survival depended on building a legion of human fighters, to go recruiting. The Separatists broke away from the rest of humanity centuries ago and developed their own technology, but now they must return to the home world in order to build an army.

Lieutenant Commander Edgar Fitzpatrick is sent to begin the recruiting effort, right under the noses of Earth's governments. A twenty-nine-year-old escaped prisoner, 1553441, who had been a college professor before he annoyed the ruling class, was one such man. The sixteen-year-old runaway, Argentina de la Fuentes, was another such perfect recruit. Two strangers from backgrounds worlds apart, along with thousands of other undesirables are to be trained to fight a terrible enemy, huge Reptilian beings who live to fight. Yet the Separatists, who recruited them, have their own dark secret, a secret that would threaten them all and could lead to the destruction of worlds including Earth.

“A delicately woven novel. Permeating throughout are tidbits of scientific knowledge and the vivid descriptions of a natural scientist.” Dr. Farouk El-Baz, Scientist for the Apollo Moon Missions.

“My condolences to Will Seigler on the publication of Hell Fighters from Earth. You’re now condemned as a libertarian science fiction writer - perhaps not so coincidentally, a hell fighter from earth.” J. Neil Schulman, Author and Filmmaker to include the book and movie Alongside Night.

Hell Fighers Series – Hell Fighters from Earth – William C. Siegler

Blurb:

“The Earth was in trouble; its economies had tanked. It was a world full of desperate people, the homeless and dispossessed were everywhere. It was a world ripe for human Separatists, whose survival depended on building a Legion of human fighters.

The Separatists broke away from the rest of humanity long ago and developed their own technology, but now they must return to the home world in order to build an army of Earth’s castoffs, for their own survival.

A twenty-nine year old escaped political prisoner, formerly a college professor, was one such fighter. The young runaway, Argentina de la Fuentes, was another such perfect recruit. Two strangers from backgrounds worlds apart would be thrust together and left to fight side by side or die together.

Yet the Separatists who recruited them had their own dark secret, a secret that would threaten them all and could lead to the destruction of worlds, including Earth.”

Okay , in a nutshell…. A Harrison Ford like Professor with Military experience flees government persecution for the crime of “teaching students to think and question authority”.

He ends up anonymously submitting himself to a regiment of soldiers that will be deployed to help a secret society of advanced human’s to protect alien lifeforms ( that resemble something from a 80’s Whitley Schrieber novel, but gave up doing probes on humans years ago due to lack of interest ) from a race of Reptilian bad guy monsters who are exhibiting behaviors which they think will lead to both the “Grays” and the “Human Separatists” from being wiped out.

Why humans ? you might ask …Well, according to this story the Separatists have somehow eliminated the natural human instinct for violent behavior. Thus the need for the “Starship Trooper” orientation.

Lets move along to hear about this professor “Denver Smith” who at some point gains the trust of a Latin beauty in her teens and the two of them and a rag tag gang of video game hot shots and jocks do a darn good job of proving that they can “get er’ done” on the battlefield.

I had some doubts at first but I thought I might try to be positive about the book. By the end I was positive that I had doubts about the book. I can see this becoming some “HBO Cable series” using not only familiar character actors we haven’t scene on TV since the 80’s , and a lot of sets from the back lot of Universal Studios, Burbank.

I won’t give you any more information as I feel it is something that writes itself. Yet I do believe the characters and settings were very well placed. Technological concepts were in tact, and the strategic battle descriptions worked, with the exception that there was a lot of …how do you say it ????

Here is an example “The battle ensued , then they sent a drone one way and doubled back to hide in the bushes, the clever rouse worked and the enemy followed the drone the opposite direction giving the recon team a chance to make their way in the direction of the base .”

This is the kind of book that makes for a great beginning of a Series , low and behold –
There is one , “Hellfighters from Earth 2”. But, by the time they get this to an agent, Harrison Ford wont be in any condition to keep his hot young counterpart “Argentina” in control.

Have fun with it, its a good one as far as Science Fiction goes.

If you want a fun read, I suggest you pick this one up. It is great!!

"Hell Fighters From Earth" is William Seigler's answer to Heinlein's "Starship Troopers." A rip-roaring military/space opera scifi channeling Heinlein, of course, Star Trek, Whitley Strieber, the X-Files and Atlantis.

This novel is action-packed and also humorous. The plot moves quickly, with a number of exciting space battles. I found it to be a fun read and very enjoyable.

I look forward to reading the sequel. And maybe Denver Smith can teach his students about democracy and the real American way again!

A really good read!

“Hell Fighters from Earth” eBook was published in 2016 and was written by William C. Seigler. Mr. Siegler has published three novels. This is the first of his ‘Hell Fighter’ series.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set in a future where Earth is suffering from financial melt down. Among the down on their luck is a 29 year old former college professor. He had been arrested and jailed for provoking unrest with the government among his students.

He escapes and by pure chance finds himself in the position to be invited to join the secret Planetary Expedition Legion. A group had sequestered themselves from the rest of humanity many years earlier. They have kept to themselves and achieved many technological advancements.

In their clandestine travels within our Solar System, they encountered the Grays. Very close to the ‘little gray men’ of science fiction fame. They soon discovered that there is another sentient race, the Reptilians. The Reptilians were an aggressive race, killing those they encounter.

To combat the Reptilians, the Planetary Expedition Legion (PEL) is formed. It is made up from the dregs of society, whose disappearance from Earth is not missed. The professor takes the name Denver Smith and adapts well to the PEL. He befriends a 16 year old girl, Argentina de la Fuentes, during his training. They are thrown together during an ill fated mission of the PEL.

I really enjoyed the 7.5 hours I spent reading this 343 page Science Fiction novel. It has an old feel to it, like a story written in the 50’s or 60’s. There was quite a bit of action. I did like the characters and the general plot line. The cover art was not very good in my opinion, telling nothing about the story. The cover would not intrigue me enough to pick up this book off of a store shelf. I give this novel a 4.4 (rounded down to a 4) out of 5.
