Michael Duda writes about the things a place tries to forget and the people who refuse to let it. His work runs across three lines that share one preoccupation — ruins, grief, and holding on past the point of sense. War Dogs, beginning with the novel Pit Bull, is grimdark military SF about a soldier the war was finished with and who has not finished protecting the people he cares for. Rattletrap and Mouse turns the same idea warm; The Whisper Lounge turns it toward horror. Different genres, one idea: the holding on is the point. He lives in Akron, Ohio with his wife and their dogs, and spends too much time thinking about buildings that should have been condemned years ago.
His previous works include the short story collections The Sound of Blue and Spectrum: Stories of Science Fiction, Fantasy, the Unusual and the Sometimes Ordinary.
War Dogs: Pit Bull is his debut novel and the first book in a planned military science fiction series.
