Susan May Warren is known for exquisite contemporary romance novels and this second installment in the Montana rescue series, is just that.

Sam and Willow are both wonderfully crafted characters. They have great chemistry and the suspense was top notch. You can count on Susan to to be the queen of Romantic suspense novels.
I would definitely recommend this book for a sweet, clean, suspenseful romance novel.

Sam and Willow definitely should NOT feel attracted to each other. He longs for stability, right? And Sierra, Willow's sister, is stabile, trustworthy, capable, right? Not like her passionate sister with her wearing her heart on her sleeves. And Sierra finally needs a good man, right? After all her hardships and one-sided love for her boss Ian.
RIGHT.
But when Sam is asked to accompany Willow and youth pastor on their trips with teenage group - and they get lost and need to have the other one's back - all the proper reason start to fade away when the hearts speak.
All their friends are almost panicking out there - where the teenage trip party is? Part of the searching party is Jess, a girl with painful secrets hidden in her heart, and Pete, "a good time guy", who now feels the need to change and to be truly here for Jess. But can they trust each other?
And yes, Pete is Sam's irresponsible little brother. Can they mend their relationship?

This one is a keeper. Best one I ever read from Susan May Warren yet! Forgiveness (towards others and towards themselves), healing, being who you are in truth. The miracles the love that is shown and the grace can do.
This story so much resonates with me. Authentic, vulnerable, raw, full of characters I want to know, want to have relationships with, want to drink their favourite cocoa with. Want to get open and tight with.

I can not recommend this swift ride of adventure with an enormous heart enough!

So I have ended up reading this series all out of order because I don't have access to all of the books. I actually read Storm Front before I read this one and I liked it better than I did Rescue Me. This was still a good book, however. I loved the rescue plot, but I just couldn't quite gain a connection to the relationships featured in the book. I wasn't a fan of the whole Sam/Sierra/Willow love triangle approach. I just felt like it was a bit of a deceitful relationship. Anyway, I still want to read the other books in this series and see how everything fits together. Thank you for the chance to review this book!

Rescue Me is the second romantic suspense book in the Montana Rescue series written by author Susan May Warren. Thanks to NetGalley and Revell Publishing for the advance copy.

"Rescue Me" is the 2nd book in the Montana Rescue series. The characters and stories are very intertwined between the stories, so it is best to read the books in order. Like Susan May Warren's other books, this one had a main plot with Sam Brooks and Willow Rose, but also a secondary plot with Pete Brooks and Jess Tagg (albeit not brought to a conclusion). The book was real and open and gripping. I picked up the book and everything else was put on hold. All I wanted to do was read. And then when it was done, to read more. Thankfully there are two more books in the series, with more to come. Faith was woven easily throughout the story. I think the reader as well as the characters in the book learn a great deal from the truths shared.

I got a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and given voluntarily. No compensation was received.

Rescue Me by Susan May Warren is a wonderful contemporary romantic adventure. It is the second book in the Montana Rescue series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The novel has many Godly themes including those of forgiveness and grace. Life can be hard at times. We make mistakes. Others make mistakes. We must forgive or anger will destroy us. "You keep feeding that anger... and it's going to consume you." Sometimes it is ourselves we need to forgive. God's grace covers everything and everyone. "Everyone deserves a shot at a second chance."
Sometimes we believe we are beyond the reach of God. "God doesn't show up for bitter, angry guys like me." God longs to love us, heal us and set us free from the bondage we have placed on ourselves. "You can be free. It's all about letting God in." True freedom comes with love and truth. "You aren't free when you're trapped inside guilt and lies." The truth will set us free.
God rescues us from ourselves. He searches us out and will never leave us alone. In the novel the motif for God pursuing us is seen in the efforts of the PEAK rescue team who search and search until they find and rescue.
We need to beware of complacency. Just because we are Christians does not mean we will not fall into sin. "None of us are immune to the darkness." We need to keep our eyes on God at all times and seek His light.
If there are family rifts, we need to heal them. A family united has less chance of falling than a divided one.
Hearts are not meant to be locked away. Walls erected to protect our hearts imprison us to a lonely life. We need to break down the walls and take a chance on love.
Rescue Me was a marvellous, compulsive read full of the heart of God. I loved it.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Another wonderful story crafted by Susan May Warren. This is the second book in the Montana Rescue series. This story continues with the Peaks Rescue and focuses on the love story between deputy Sam Brooks and youth leader, Willow Rose. At the beginning of the story Sam is dating Willow's sister Sierra who Sam believes is perfect for him. Through a series of adventures and dangers Sam and Willow work together helping others and each other overcome present and past struggles and insecurities that hold them back. Sam soon comes to realize he is dating the wrong sister. A beautiful and sweet love develops between them. We also see Sam work through a strained relationship with his brother Pete, who is trying to earn his brother's approval. The relationship between the two brothers is explored and beautifully redeemed and restored. A secondary love story is between Jess and Pete with great chemistry...in the background is the tension that exists between Ian Shaw and Sierra Rose. If you haven't read the prequel "If Ever I Would Leave You " and "Wild Montana Skies" Book 1 treat yourself and read them first. You will not be disappointed.

What I love about this book and all of Susan May Warren's books are the way she crafts a wonderfully adventurous story that engages you and wraps you up in it so much so that you feel like the characters are real. My favorite moment is when Willow gives her inspirational speech to the youth group and tells them, "A different view can also show you the truth of your situation. And a path out. God has this view all the time. No detail of your life is unseen by him. He is your guide and your protector through life's journey. The great part is that he says 'don't worry.' He'll take care of us. All we have to do is be still and know that He's God." This is a truth that I held on to when I went through a difficult year and Warren said it so beautifully.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.

Sam Brooks has the perfect girl picked out. Too bad he’s her second choice. As he continues to pursue a relationship with Sierra Rose, it seems like the world is conspiring to keep them apart. Just when he finally gets a real date with her, he’s called out to a bear mauling by the PEAK Rescue team. As Sam races the clock to rescue the young girl, he’s stunned to find himself – in a darkened hospital room where he can only go by the voice he hears – taking comfort from the passionate kisses of Sierra’s younger sister, Willow. Sierra is the one he wants. She’s organized, safe and everything he wants in a woman. So why can’t he get the kisses of her flaky hippie of a sister out of his mind?
¬Willow Rose has loved Sam Brooks from afar as long as she’s known him. His honor and steadfastness are qualities she treasures after the life she lived in the commune with her mother. It doesn’t hurt that he is gorgeous, either! She sees all of his good qualities and overlooks the bad. Unfortunately, the one thing she can’t overlook is the fact that Sam is focused on her sister and the one person she CAN’T hurt is Sierra.
When Willow and Sam take the church youth group on a day trip for a mountain hike, they expect to be home by supper time. As they prepare to descend the mountain in the church van, the storm that chased them off the trail, shoves them off the mountain. Can these two work together to rescue not only themselves but the kids who are depending on them? Sam has spent his whole life being the reliable rock that everyone else can lean on. Can he let go of his control long enough to let someone else rescue him?
I love this series! The characters climb off the page and into your heart as you read their stories. I loved that there was not just one love story here. Yes, Sam and Willow are probably the main one but then you have Jess and Pete, Sam’s brother and Sierra and Ian continue to smolder. I can’t wait to see whose story Ms. Warren tells in book 3! Plus, the setting is an added bonus. Glacier National Park plays a major role in the events of the story. The beauty – and danger – found in God’s creation are impressive. The story will grab you and keep you flipping pages far into the night. I highly recommend!

Sam Brooks is a Deputy with Mercy Falls Police Department and takes his job seriously. He believes in doing the right thing and protecting people in all situations. But the one person he could not protect was his Father, he believes he should have been able to do more. That belief has driven a wedge between himself and his brother for years.

Willow has been the Church youth group leader and has a passion for sharing the gospel with young people and trying to give them tools to be able to live well and have a strong relationship with the Lord.

But....Willow has a bit of a spontaneous streak, so when the church leaders decided to hire a new youth group leader Willow is heartbroken. She has a hike planned for the following weekend. The parents insist that she must have new leader along and another "adult". Who better than Deputy Sam Brooks.

Willow has been in love with Sam for quite a while so when her sister started dating Sam, Willow's heart hurt but she wanted them to be happy. So when they took the youth group on the hike neither Sam nor Willow expected to have an adventure in more ways than one.

This was a fantastic story and I cannot wait to read the next one and however many more that are to come. Thank you Susan May Warren...I am hooked!

Deputy Sam Brooks doesn’t do anything half way — not his job with the sheriff’s department, his liaison position with PEAK Rescue, or his relationship with Sierra Rose. After all, safe, dependable and structured Sierra is perfect for him, and he’ll do anything to prove it to her, including help lead a church youth event with her polar-opposite sister.

Willow has loved Sam for as long as she can remember, but after her sister’s recent heartbreak, Sierra deserves a HEA (happily-ever-after) and Sam can give it to her. Not to mention, Willow has more important things to focus on than the handsome deputy, like landing the youth pastor job at her church. But when an outing to the Glacier National Park goes horribly wrong, more than just hearts are at stake. Sam and Willow must join forces to get the teenagers and themselves out alive.

Susan May Warren’s Rescue Me delivers an exhilarating and nail-biting journey of survival. Days after closing the book, I still felt the rain pelting my skin and the cold that burrowed deep in my bones. Warren masterfully brought the setting to life from the towering trees, freezing water, and narrow ledges. I endured the harrowing trek through the Glacier wilderness right alongside Sam, Willow, and the teens.

Sam is every bit the swoony hero even if a bit dumb for not seeing what — or should I say who? — was right under his nose all along. Despite having very little in common with Willow, I could root for her and loved the way she cared for and interacted with the youth.

The hospital scene toward the beginning seemed a bit unrealistic and farfetched. I can’t give away details because … you just have to read it. But it makes one protagonist appear stupid and the other act out of character given claims that follow later. The novel also ends with a few too many pairings to be believable, as though the author tied everything up with a neat little bow. Still, Rescue Me is one of the most enjoyable Warren novels I’ve read in recent years. I haven’t devoured one of her stories so quickly since Take a Chance on Me.

New developments occur in the hunt for Ian’s missing niece. While this book could technically stand alone, Ian and Sierra’s story and their search for his niece does arc throughout all we’ve seen in the series to date, so I would advise starting with the prequel novella (which is free!) and book one. I recommend the Montana Rescue series to romance and Warren fans alike.

I always expect a good read from a Susan May Warren novel and Rescue Me delivered that. I enjoyed catching up with the old characters, meeting new characters, and following along as the story progressed.

We met Willow in the last book and after reading more of her story I'm here to tell you that I will not ever go hiking with her. But I'd love to have a cup of coffee and some great conversation with her!

I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Rescue Me is the second book in the Montana Rescue series and it was another great story! I had a hard time putting the book down and became so engrossed in the characters and everything that was going on. There were a lot of scenes that had me on the edge of my seat in suspense, wondering what was going to happen next for the characters.

I had mixed feelings about the romance, because while I did really want them to end up together, I also wasn't 100% sure because of Sierra...but because of something that was revealed towards the end, I actually did like the romance. :)

All in all, a fantastic story. I cannot wait to read the next book and definitely recommend this series!!

Susan May Warren has done it again!
She has written a book that I couldn't put down until the very last page was turned.
In other words, I loved it!!
This is the second book in the Montana Rescue series, but even with it being part of a series this is definitely a stand alone story. With that being said, I still recommend reading the first book so you can get the full impact of the series.
When I first saw the beautiful cover it gave me a hint at the story it contained, but I must admit that I wasn't prepared for the full impact it would have. From the very first page I was quickly pulled into the plot and knew it was a one setting read.
Willow Rose is a beautiful, young woman who didn't have a traditional childhood. Due to her mother's lifestyle she was raised in a commune located just north of Mercy Falls. I truly loved this woman's commitment to both her church and her faith. She is hoping to get the Youth Pastor position. She has been working with the youth for a while and has become close to them.
Deputy Sam Brooks works for the Mercy Falls Sherriff's Department and is also the liaison with PEAK Rescue. I fell a little in love with this character. Sam has all these protective instincts that just radiate from him. He's used to stepping up and taking control during a crisis.
This book has elements of suspense, romantic tension and lots of faith.
I would recommend it to anyone.

I’m really loving this new series from Susan May Warren. The setting—Glacier National Park—deserves to be called a character in its own right, and what a fascinating character it is! I love any kind of suspense novel, but there’s something especially gripping about man vs nature—that intriguing quality of breathtaking beauty that can become life-threatening in the blink of an eye. And Susan May Warren (hereinafter referred to as SMW) is one of my favourite authors when it comes to bringing that combination to life on the page. Not only that, but just to make sure you’re really getting bang for your buck, she manages to pack a whole lot of interpersonal tension into her stories too!

In this case, we not only have the three-way tension between Willow, Sam, and Sierra, but also the long-existing tension between Sam and his brother Pete, and the romantic tension that is budding between Pete and fellow PEAK team member Jess. Best of all, SMW does a fabulous job of bringing the characters’ own weaknesses and strengths into direct conflict in situations where their choices could mean the difference between life and death.

Don’t be surprised if you have to remind yourself to breathe on occasion!

I have to admit to having a soft spot for Willow—being a kindred heart-on-the-sleeve kind of spirit—so I was cheering Sam and Willow on from the get-go. And boy, did they give me a reason to cheer! A man on emotional edge, a compassionate woman, a case of mistaken identity, and WOW! What a scene! But Willow also has an amazing heart, both for people and for God, and I loved seeing that showcased in this novel. And Sam learns the spiritual truth that we ALL need to be rescued—in a very powerful and concrete way!

If you’re after dynamic writing, gripping romantic suspense, and fully-fleshed-out human characters, look no further! I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not influenced the content of my review.

Overly preachy, with a doormat heroine, the book didn't hold my interest. The author makes her plot work by employing a number of small-town stereotypes, all annoying. I struggled to finish it.

I’m loving this Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren. The setting in Glacier National Park is so beautiful, yet wild, and the perfect place for a rescue series. This author creates such endearing, realistic, yet flawed characters and plants them in compelling situations, which makes for great stories. The main characters in Rescue Me, Sam and Willow, are vividly drawn, each with their own problems and back stories. Characters from the previous story popped up, adding continuity and fun. The action grabbed me at the first page and didn’t let go to the end, and the strong threads of forgiveness, hope, and faith woven seamlessly through the book added to my enjoyment of it. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series.
