Rescue Me by Susan May Warren is the third installment (Second full length book) in the Montana Rescue Series. I'm going to lead with this: This is a standalone book but do yourself a favor and read the novella and book 1 before attempting Rescue Me.

There are LOTS of characters in this book. In this series in fact. I personally like lots of characters, but it can be daunting especially when you are in book 3 and there is an expectation that these characters have already been introduced.

It's been a while since I've read a Susan May Warren series and I can't quite recall if her writing usually blends lots of stories simultaneously. Well she does and I love it. While Rescue Me's main storyline is centered around Willow and Sam, we also get a healthy dose of secondary characters Pete and Jess along with a few more budding storylines. I warned you there are LOTS of characters...lol. I wasn't a huge fan of hero Sam, but I enjoyed reading Willow's story and preferred Pete and Jess's story.

If you've already read the others in the series, storylines from those books have continued into this one (Sierra, Ian & Esme).

The plot moved quickly and I felt as if I was right there in the mountains and woods with the Rescue Team.

As I mentioned, Sam didn't interest me much and I was a little bored with him, but Willow was a joy to read and I love Pete's character.

If you are a fan of love and page turning "action" this series is a great pick-up. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Join Sam, Willow, the rest of the crew and friends as they travel the tough roads of life and relationships, wildlife and nature. As they do, each will learn more about themselves and true faith. Look for themes of redemption, difficult past experiences and relationship issues. Susan May Warren doesn't shy away from gritty characters who need a touch of mercy and grace. She creates well-rounded characters who try to navigate well through life and their interesting, adventurous careers..

Rescue Me opens up in the middle of a rescue and you quickly become involved with the hero, Sam Brooks, and the emotional and physical stress he struggles with every day fighting to save lives and sometimes to save his own.

Enter, Willow, the sister of his girlfriend, and in the darkened room, Sam begins to share his emotional upheaval with her, mistaking her for her sister, Sierra. Willow, kisses Sam sympathetically, who kisses her back before he realizes his mistake. But the damage is done. Is he really meant to be with Sierra? Willow ask him to keep the kiss a secret because she wants whats best for her sister and for Sam; but she has loved Sam forever.

Then, Sam and Willow are thrown together chaperoning youth on a day hike into the mountains that ends up in tragedy and with several injured, especially, Sam. They must hike out and survive long enough for someone to find them.

Sam and Willow both have their issues and poor family relationships that they struggle with. Each has a servant's heart always trying to fix and rescue others but now, they must learn to wait on God and allow others to rescue them.

Susan May Warren has another winner here and in this series. Rescue Me is a wonderful story with many twists and turns to the plot and wonderful inspirational lessons to go along with the romance. I highly recommend it. I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review.

Love this book! I couldn't stop reading because I had to find out what would happen to Sam, Willow, and the youth group. Not being familiar with the Rocky Mts., the setting of this story captivates me. Grizzly bears?! Wow! This story focuses on Sam and Willow who are both looking to "find" themselves - Sam with a love interest in Willow's sister and Willow with a job as a youth leader at ther church while denying her love for Sam. Both of these goals collide when an accident strands Sam, Willow, and a group of church youth on a mountain complete with storms and grizzly bears! Definitely keeps your interest!

This book had so much action and adventure that I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and didn’t want to stop reading!

I am a huge fan of author Susan May Warren and love all her series! Every time she comes out with a new series I think its my favorite until she comes out with the next one-they just keep getting better and better. She is truly an outstanding, gifted author!

“Rescue Me” is book 2 of 3 of the Montana Rescue Series that was released the end of January. Deputy Sam Brooks works to keep people safe in the town and in Glacier National Park where Bear attacks and wilderness rescues are a weekly occurrence.

This story has lots of action and romance as well as God’s love, faith and forgiveness. Highly recommend this series and this book-you won’t be disappointed!

At one point Willow tells Sam that “God’s light can overtake the darkness”, this explains exactly the theme immersed throughout this book. God is there for us asking to be let in and is at work in our lives even during the dark times even though we may not see him. Story picks up shortly after book one and focuses on brothers, Sam & Pete Brooks. From the previous book we know there is some baggage in their past that has strained their relationship but we didn’t know what it was. This one digs into that relationship as well as their romantic relationships. Majority of the story takes place with a group stuck on a mountain trying to get help after an accident. There are quite a few tense moments that had me holding my breath while waiting to find out what would happen. I became invested in the characters, and couldn’t put it down until I knew that they would be rescued and how it would happen. On the romantic relationship side, there was a few will they / won’t they moments for both main couples, but thankfully in the end Ms. Warren put the characters together that I wanted together. However there is still one relationship that I want fixed and I hope this happens in book three. The ongoing story about what happened to Ian’s niece, Esme, was mentioned very briefly in this one, but there was a piece revealed near the end that has me anxiously awaiting book 3 for answers.

Susan May Warren is one of my favorite authors because the characters she creates become so real, as if they are truly alive and part of real life.  Susan's Montana Rescue series is no exception as the characters come alive and stick with you long after you finish reading!

"Rescue Me," book 2, focuses on Sam and Willow whom were both introduced in book 1; however Jess and Pete play large roles as do Sierra, Ian, Ben, and Kacey along with Chet and others.  Sam is respected in the community and he is responsible, reliable, really the ideal man and Sierra is the ideal counterpart to him, so then why is he drawn to Willow.  Willow is her mother's daughter, carefree, impulsive and leads with her heart.  Willow works odd jobs, but her heart is really into her position as a youth leader for the church; however the most recent trips she has taken them on have not ended as planned and the church decides to hire a young man Josh with a Bible degree.  Willow, Josh, and Sam sent out with a group of 7 kids to go for a day hike; however as with Willow's recent pattern, things don't go as planned and they find themselves hanging on for their lives and PEAK Rescue out looking for them.  Not only do they all need to be saved physically, but they all need rescuing from their pasts, their current struggles and trust God and their hearts.
This is a fast-paced read that is filled with adventure, wonderful characters and I cannot wait for book 3 to be out this summer to be back with this group again!

When Deputy Sam Brooks commits to something, nothing can sway him--not just on the job as liaison between the Mercy Falls sheriff's department and PEAK Rescue, but in his private life. He's the one who stuck around to take care of his mother after his father's accidental death. And he's the one--perhaps the only one--who believes Sierra Rose is the perfect girl for him. Safe, practical, and organized, she's nothing like her hippie, impulsive, bleeding heart sister, Willow.

Willow, however, has been in love with Sam Brooks for as long as she can remember. But she wants her sister to have a happy ending. Besides, Willow has other things to focus on--namely, nabbing the job as youth pastor for her small-town church. Best thing for her to do is to purge Sam from her heart.

Neither can predict the events that will bring them together in a fight for their lives in the forbidding wilderness of Glacier National Park. Stranded, injured, and with the winter weather closing in, Sam and Willow will have to work together to save a crew of terrified teenagers. As they fight to survive, they might just discover a new hope for love.

I love Susan May Warren's writing, so I wasn't surprised to like this one. I'm going to jump right into this review and say that I loved Willow and Sam, but I didn't know that this was a continuation of other books! So, I didn't know all of the people. I have read a few of her previous ones. If you've never read any of her books...a word of caution - you need to catch up or you'll get lost!! It will make it kinda hard for you to get into the book if you haven't read anything of hers before. I did like the storyline, bears and all...oh my. You'll find out what I mean. I didn't like the Pastor or his wife. Which is really sad that the leader of their church is such a wanker. I bet you don't hear that every day. I did have a really hard problem with all the characters in this book which if you want to revisit them all that's great but if you're coming into it as a first-timer - gosh you're confused.

I felt really sorry for Quinn and Bella. If you want to read a good book start with the first one of this series.

Anyway, Sam is dating the older sister of the girl he really cares for. The younger sister, Willow is the one with the biggest heart ever and seems she's always messing up somehow or some way. Sam comes in and tries to save the day only he winds up getting hurt in ICU. This book had lots of action, lots of misunderstandings, lots of love between the brothers, sisters and thank God no cussing since I knew she was a Christian writer!! I always love a book that I know is going to be wholesome and that I can recommend to my mother! She loves books that have no cussing, no sex and have a good plot so she would give her stamp of approval. Great job on this Susan. Definitely, will read the next one.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Another book in a series that had me spellbound from page 1 until the last word. Susan filled this book with action and romance. Revisiting with past characters is always fun.

Susan May Warren does not disappoint in her second book in the Montana Rescue Series-- Rescue Me. While it can be read as a stand alone book, I found it difficult to keep the characters straight at first since I had not read the first book. However, a little into the book, it all made sense and was well worth the effort. Susan May Warren has an amazing ability to balance action, romance, and authentic encounters with God, and this balance was felt throughout the book, keeping readers interested until the very last page. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the others in the series. I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have DNF'd at 20%. I was drawn to this story by the cover and description. Sadly, this book is just not for me.

Too many characters to keep up with (with clearly important aspects happening other than the two main characters) and changing POVs with all of these characters made it hard to focus and connect to the story. I can feel some charm with the dynamics of the small town and it's rescue team but it wasn't enough to keep me reading. Perhaps I will go in and try to finish in the future. If I do, I'll edit my review accordingly.

Susan May Warren has been one of my favorite authors for a while now, and her writing just keeps getting better and better. I loved Rescue Me--couldn't put it down!

This was a fascinating book that takes the reader behind the scenes of a mountain rescue operation. It is the third book in the Montana Rescue series, and it really stands alone. I have not read the first two books in the series (although now I want to), and while the book hints at backstories I really didn't feel like I'd missed out on critical information required for Rescue Me to make sense.

The book begins with an incident that sends the hero, Sam Brooks, into a head spin and quickly draws the reader in. The interactions between the characters are complex and fascinating, especially between siblings (Sam and his brother, and the two female characters Sierra Rose and Willow).

Warren has a way of creating a setting that takes me out of my couch and into the wilderness in just a couple of sentences! Her stories are intriguing and full of twists that keep me reading late into the night.

WOW what a beginning - it hits you right in the face - Sam and his brother searching for a girl who is being chased by - well I wont ruin it for you - but she turns up cut up seriously bad and needing medivac - will she survive - then you move onto Willow - her and her movie and kids - were vegging out. Now what do they have to do with the brothers? well it is an incredible - twisted story. This story is idealistic, humongous Ely hopeful, gregarious, grateful, redemptive and majorly outstanding. The LORD surely knows what HE is doing and the author surely knows what she is doing in this book. She knows how to weave these characters together, will or will they not get together? will or will that girl survive? will or will Willows kids accept Sam? How does GOD fit into all of this? Does HE fit into any of this? What kind of fun do the two yes two couples have? There are a ton more questions to ask but you can ask them yourself by getting the book yourself.

Thoughts:

Inside RESCUE ME (Montana Rescue Book 2) by Susan May Warren, we are thrown into the thunderous lives of Deputy Sam Brooks—the Search and Rescue police liaison—and the PEAK Rescue team of Montana!

Deputy Sam Brooks lives with hurt and anger that strangles his heart within his family drama. His mother’s cancer struggle heaps more traumas on a life that he keeps calm on purpose. At least one of the two Brooks sons is predictable. His brother, Pete Brooks is a whole different story, and he is Sam’s forever problem. Creating an intersection between love and hate, Pete adds trouble and pain to mix with poor choices and adrenaline junkie tendencies keeping Sam somewhere between finding and fixing him.

Meanwhile, Willow Rose is a youth leader hoping to occupy the youth pastor position, but she comes with qualification problems. From education to a previous mistake that put herself and her charges in danger, a while back, she still has much to prove to take the lead. Her youth group activities are her life now, and that is the way she wants it. Willow understands these kids and is having a positive effect on them.

She has no distractions, although the man Willow loves is dating her sister, Sierra.

Her sister’s heart is on the mend from having been shredded by another, and she deserves Sam Brooks. He is better suited for her, and Willow does not have the time to waste anywhere other than her career building challenge until danger calls and Sam Brooks and Willow find themselves in an intimate moment where everything changes! Willow knows he must love her sister while Sam is positive that Sierra is the more stable and predictable sibling, right?

Sierra was not available at that moment, but happenstance put Willow there. As usual, she is wearing her heart for the world to see, and this gets worse by those few minutes in his arms. However, it only becomes more difficult once her career takes a major hit.

The new youth Pastor comes on the next youth outing while Sierra and Sam will too until Sierra pulls the unpredictable!

Once danger strikes, again, we will wonder about where everything is leading. Will everyone survive? Can Sam and Willow come to a correct and happy resolution in this unexpected family drama?

***This opinion is my own.***

Two brothers share a deadly past but are now on the same team. Forgiveness stays far behind them. Sam Brooks fights to keep life from falling apart while a perfect relationship with Sierra Rose cannot get off the ground. His brother struts in to act as if he can control the world. He can’t. Sam’s father paid the ultimate price for his dangerous ways. Now, his mother’s cancer builds in more resentment for Peter’s selfish inclinations.

Meanwhile, Willow’s upbringing provides labels of hippie, rash, and flighty, but she is a dedicated group leader wanting to be more in her church. Willow hopes to attain the position of youth Pastor. There is more to be done to prove her worthy, after a dangerous mess up. However, she is confident her relationships and bonds she maintains with these kids will win the day. She understands them and helps them reach for the stars while keeping Biblically sound.

Not wanting any disastrous relationship issues to interfere with her new career, she keeps clear of Deputy Sam Brooks.

Rescue Me is the second book in the Montana Rescue series and it hit the mark of a great book. Susan is starting off 2017 with a sure to be best seller! We are unsure how she does it, but we were hooked after only a few pages. Create some time because once you open this book, it will be hard to put down!

Storyline
Deputy Sam Brooks is the liaison between the Mercy Falls Sheriff's department and PEAK Rescue. He is serious, determined and responsible, and is used to being the one who rescues others. He believes Sierra Rose is perfect for him - she fits his criteria of what a girlfriend should be. When he gets stranded with Sierra's little sister, Willow, and a group of teens in Glacier National Park, he finds his heart and head battling with each other on what he truly needs in a significant other.

We love Willow as a character! She is positive, always smiling, sees the good in people and wears her heart on her sleeve - which is a problem, considering she has been in love with her sister's boyfriend for as long as she can remember. However, she loves her sister and longs for her to be happy; and what would Sam Brooks see in her anyway? She tells herself to focus on her role with the youth group and keep herself away from Sam. But that is much easier said than done!

Depth
Sam has a complicated history with his brother Pete after the accidental death of their father. Much anger and bitterness exists between these two. Sam feels he always has to be the "mature" brother. Through the story, we watch these two wrestle with the past and while working to create a connected future.

Willow has a challenging past of her own - often filled with people leaving her. Because of this she fears needing anything from others. But deep down she longs to be rescued - and fears she never will be.

Ultimately, there is one storyline that really gave the depth category a five star rating. Weaved throughout the book are the lives of a few teenagers and we get a genuine glimpse of what many just like them are experiencing. This was a powerful component. Watching Willow interact with them and getting her perspective, along with Sam's, was intriguing. It impacted us for the lives of our own children, some of whom are currently in this uncertain time of life.

Faith
Sam is holding on to anger, but it starts to consume him. He is living in darkness and ultimately has to learn the light he needs is Jesus. If we are always saving others and think we can save ourselves, is there a need for God? So used to rescuing others, will Sam learn he is actually in need of rescuing?

Willow has a rich faith and we learn a lot about different perspectives from her. She leans on the Lord as her High Rock and understands that God's thoughts are often not our thoughts.

Love Story
Susan is once again a master at writing a romantic story that has just enough tension, heart pounding, and sigh worthy moments that make you lose sleep! You just cannot put the book down. We were kept guessing until the end how the love story would end, and she still has us waiting for more details in the next two books. We are counting down the days until book three lands in our hands.

Overall

Don't miss this second book in the series. It is filled with action, romance, faith and characters you are sure to love. Susan's ability to weave different plots together is second to none. Now we eagerly await for book three that releases in July!

Rescue Me is the second book in the Montana Rescue Series by Susan May Warren. In this book you’ll read about love, bears, and forgiveness.

I really, really wanted to like this book, but I had such a hard time with this one. I like the different story lines, but it gets to be a lot to keep track of. There is a mistake that is made with one of the characters and when I read it I was like, really??? It just seemed far fetched and detracted from the story.

Then there was the incident with the bear, which for me, was another disaster. While the concept was interesting and did add a layer of suspense and excitement to this story, the execution was not what I expected. For example, the character climbs a tree to get a way from a bear, which is one thing they tell you NOT to do.

While there was a lot I didn’t care for in this story and it detracted from what should have been a great book, there were elements I did like. I enjoyed the concept of a youth director and taking the kids on a trip. I found her character to be interesting in this regard.

The story of forgiveness was one that pulled on my heart. The concept of forgiveness is easy to relate with. I felt Susan May Warren take this common story theme to a little deeper level that made me feel empathy for the character. I enjoyed this aspect of the story.

Overall this was an okay read. Like I said, I really wanted to like this book. There were elements that were great and held my attention, but when mixed with the flaws in this book, it made it hard to get through and actually believe what I was reading. It made this just an okay book.

In defense of the author, who I know can write great books, I read an advanced reader copy of this book, hopefully the final copy is a cleaned up version.

Head of PEAK rescue team, Deputy Sheriff Sam Brooks gets a report that a bear is sitting in Glacier National Park, he has his doubts and is surprised to find that it is still there.

Sierra's sister, Willow, is the youth leader at her church. She has planned a field trip to the park hoping that the teens will see and appreciate the grandeur of the glaciers and see God's glory, like she does. Her sister suggests that she invite Josh, the new youth pastor to come with them, but everything could go wrong does. They lose cell service, and no one knows where they are, and it is up to Sam and Willow to get everyone safely home.

I like how everyone pulls together to help them get out, Sam does everything he can to improve their chances of getting out, and he risks his life again and again. And Sam and Willow draw together to get the children safely home, I like how their situation and dialog draws them closer together, and Sam tells her things that he's never told anyone before. He is good at his job, and he follows through. I love how Willow and Sam are opposites, and make each other better people.

I also like how it explores Sam's brother, Pete, and his friend Jess, and though they spend alot of time together, they realize how little they know of each other and their lives. I can't wait to read their story next!

Overall, this was a fast paced read, that I struggled to put down, I was quickly drawn into the drama and dangerous suspense. Willow was my favorite character, her faith motivates her actions, she puts others first and lives to serve. This is a fantastic heart pounding read, tensions and emotions run high, and it was book well worth the read.

Another great story from a fantastic author! The other storylines were seamlessly woven into that of the two main characters. I can't wait for more from this series!
