Sam is loyal, dedicated, and ready to settle down with someone special and become a family man. He’s determined to cross that relationship bridge with his girlfriend Sierra and hope his heart catches up with his logic.
Willow is a free spirit from an unconventional upbringing yet there’s nothing she’d like more than to put down roots and experience permanence in her life. Willow is passionate about sharing her faith and volunteering as a youth leader for her church.
Reconnecting with the PEAK team and learning more about the way they work and live together in their small community felt like coming home. The unpredictable forces of nature and untamed wilderness keep throwing the team for a loop. I have a feeling this entire series is going to end up on my all-time favorites list!
I requested the opportunity to read and review this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

Rescue Me by Susan May Warren is the second book in her wonderful Montana Rescue Series. I anxiously awaited this sequel, and was not disappointed as the story entranced me from the beginning. The only hard part was finding enough time to read to my heart's content!
In classic Warren fashion, this book is full of suspense, adventure, spiritual lessons, and tender romance. Featuring the characters of Sam and Willow, with a side story of Pete and Jess, Warren takes her readers on a quest for identity and forgiveness. Full of redeeming love and restoration, this book will uplift and challenge you in your relationships and life purpose. And this is one of the things I love about Warren's work- not only are you given a wonderful story, but one that is full of personal application meant to take you on a deeper level with Christ.
As the book closes, it is apparent the storyline has many more kinks to work out in future books. Mysteries and unresolved relationships are yet to be determined, and I hope the next installment comes out soon! Warren certainly knows how to keep her readers coming back for more!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley to read and give an honest review.
Rescue Me is the second book in the Montana Rescue series which began with a prequel. I have enjoyed all in the series but I found that this was the most action packed and exciting of all the books thus far. Especially around half way through, I found it hard to put down.
The characters, Deputy Sam Brooks and Willow Rose, youth leader, are battling feelings for each other. Sam is dating Willow's sister, Sierra, so they should not be having feelings for each other. On the other hand, Sam's wild and action loving brother, Pete is attracted to PEAK search and rescue member and EMS Jess Tagg. There are lots of relational dynamics going on in this book. Sam and Pete have had a strained relationship for years, since their father was killed in a skiing accident that Sam blames partly on Pete. And Pete knows that he has disappointed Sam, who feels that he is too self centered. He is not reliable for remembering to help out in basic ways, like picking up their mom after chemo treatment. Pete and Jess carry on a flirting and teasing banter but neither want it go farther or at least at first they don't. Jess has a secret to hide that she has shared with team member Ty. Pete sees something between Jess and Ty and thinks that there is more to it than just friendship. Lots of complicated tension between the characters to work through. We met Ian Shaw and Sierra Rose in the prequel and again in the second book, Wild Montana Skies. They still have an unresolved relationship. Sierra is dating Sam to try to get over Ian. Ian is still searching for his niece.
The book starts out with a PEAK rescue of some of the church youth group members at a fire pit party involving a bear attack. The minister's daughter is hurt by the bear. At the hospital, a local reporter, Tallie, interviews Pete about the rescue. Tallie is very attractive and seems to be interested in Pete. She keeps showing up through the story. Another complication between Pete and Jess. Later on, the team is called out for another rescue that involves the youth group battling the bad weather, injuries, the elements and fear. They are stuck on the mountain without cell service and their location is unknown. This was a nail biter! At this point, I had to finish the book. Willow's faith as well as Sierra's are there to help them through all the events that pop up and they both try to use their faith to help others. Great book! Susan May Warren is one of the best!

NEVER A DULL MOMENT!! "Rescue Me" the second installment of the Montana Rescue Series is action packed from start to finish! Each & every character is described in detail & is desperately in need of allowing their family & friends to see their REAL selves. There are the members of the PEAK Rescue Team - all excellent at their respective positions within the Team but they struggle with their familial, romantic and other interpersonal relationships. There are the students from the Youth Group - they appear a certain way but definitely different in reality. Like all young people, they are trying to discover who they are and what they're created for. There are the Church Leaders - they think they know everything but in regards to hiring a Youth Minister, they make some critical errors in character assessment and put education over everything. All of these people are struggling to make the right decisions for the good of the GROUP and sometimes for the sake of an INDIVIDUAL. The plot is chock full of people needing to be rescued - RESCUED from a riled up Mama Bear, from bad relationships, from being needy, from years of anger and bitterness, from judgmental attitudes and from extremely dangerous situations. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for making this copy available for review and the opinion expressed here is completely my own.

Another fantastic read from one of the industry's finest. The characters and their journey feel very real to me, which is one of the reasons I enjoy Susan May Warren's novels so much. The battles against the natural elements, their struggles with their own shortcomings and fears, as well as the subtle hint of Biblical truth woven into the plot makes for a very enjoyable reading experience. I'm glad the wait for the next novel in this series won't be long.

I am past the stage in life where I have any interest in rappelling down the sides of cliffs or hiking in grizzly bear country or wading across raging rivers, but I still enjoy reading stories about characters who get a real charge out of such activities. At times, I was almost on the edge of my seat with all of the action and excitement in the story. When kicked back in a recliner, it takes a powerful pull to get you on the edge of your seat. Susan May Warren has a way of bringing the story to life and getting the adrenalin pumping. I just have to say that several of the characters were really dense when it came to relationships with the opposite sex. Then I have to admit that I had some of the same traits when I was their age. I was so grateful for the message of grace that was woven into the fabric of the story. As several characters learned, God’s grace is available to everyone regardless of what we have done. I appreciate authors who have the ability to tell a spellbinding story that communicates a message of hope to the readers. I recommend this book as one that does just that. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book which I received from NetGalley.

Susan May Warren does an excellent job of weaving faith, forgiveness, and love into her stories. Rescue Me is about forgiving yourself as well as others and is a great reminder that everyone needs help in life. It can just be hard to see it at times.
Warren is able to pull you into the story, causing you to feel like you're there trying to survive along with Sam, Willow, and the youth group. I love that it really showcases the fact that sometimes you just need someone to believe in you and help you through the rough patches of life.
Sam and Willow's story was an inspiration to read and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to continuing this series in the future.

Sam is living his life to be simple, predictable and organized and he found someone who can give him that life Sierra. It just seems he need to try and convince her of that. When things start going array in the park he starts to question everything and he continues to be angry with his brother. Can he let go of that anger and heal that relationship or is it to far gone? Willow is a free spirit and she is working hard to prove herself to the church so that she can take over as the new youth leader. But it seems she has more to prove then just to them she has a lot to prove to herself and those around her. When things start to fall apart around her she turns to God, but then she also starts to question a few thing in her life. Will she be able to find healing and help those around her before it to late? Pete is a wild child always looking for the next thrill, never willing to slow down. Jess is hiding a secret and she knows if she tell Pete that might be the end of them before she even had a chance to tell him how she felt for him.
Any good book will leave you wanting more and thats my favorite kind of read. This book did that and did not disappoint. I loved how this group of friends seek to help others but also are faced with the own trials along the way they need to face. I will say just like any series book this one does end in a small cliffhanger of two of the characters, but it was expected. I really enjoyed this book a lot, the storyline grabs you and I had truly a hard time putting it down I just need to know what was going to happen next. This book was and talked a lot about forgiveness and healing. I love that it was not just about a group of friends out to help others but had a moral to the story. If you are looking for a good book, with a love story attached and so suspense in it then seriously grab this book and the others in the series you really can't go wrong and you wont be disappointed.

I can hardly believe it, but I just might have loved this second book in the Montana Rescue series even more than the first!!! (And that's saying a lot...) The action is way ramped up throughout the entire book, and I was literally biting my fingernails at times. (It was like watching a movie in my head!) I love the author's method of including two romances in the story- the main one between Sam and Willow, and also one between team members Jess and Pete, Sam's younger brother. The characters are strong, yet flawed, and all their journeys- physical and emotional- are compelling and human. I think that's why I connected with this story- each character has some major hang-ups, but it made them easier to relate to as they struggled and tried their best to do what they felt was right. The romances were both very "will they/won't they" and kept me turning pages and invested in the outcome. I'm loving this series and just can't wait for the third book!!! Highly recommend!
(I received a complimentary copy of this book; all opinions in this review are my own)

This is a Christian romance with multiple passages quoted from the Bible throughout the book.
This is the second book in the series but my first by this author. There were so many story lines going on in this book at one time. It would be beneficial to read them in order to get some background.
Sam is the cop liaison to the SAR group for the area. He is organized, thorough and a bit rigid in his ways. He is trying to convince himself that Sienna, the woman he’s dating, is the perfect one for him.
Willow is Sienna’s sister and the volunteer youth leader for the teenagers at her church. She’s been in love with Sam for some time. Willow is a free spirit, raised in a commune, ray of sunshine, impulsive, a bit flighty, and trouble seems to follow her.
Willow takes a group of her teenagers on a hike in the mountains with Sam and the new youth pastor. The van they are in careens off the mountain road and Willow, Sam and one of the teens is injured. They must work together to figure a way to safety and help. During this adventure, Sam discovers his attraction to Willow.
Pete is Sam’s devil may care, fun time ladies man, brother. He and Sam have butted heads since their dad was killed in a skiing accident years ago. Sam held Pete responsible. Pete left town for several years to be a smoke jumper, then returned to town to join the SAR group. He’s been attracted to Jess, another SAR teammate, for a long time, but he’s not a steady, long term guy, so he’s not going there.
Jess has a back story she’s keeping secret. She moved to this small town to escape her past and start over. She’s attracted to Pete, but if she goes there, she’s going to have to fill him in on her past. And of course, throw in Ty to muddle things even more.
Then of course, there’s Ian and Sienna’s mixed up relationship, which must continue on from the first book in the series, which I have not read. Sooo much going on, it ping pongs around between all the story lines the entire book. Several story lines are left open to continue into the next book. Overall an okay read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley.

Susan May Warren is an awesome author who draws you in from the start. After reading Wild Montana Skies, book One of the Montana Rescue Series, I could not wait to read book two, Rescue Me. Both are great books that I highly recommend reading.
Rescue Me is action packed, full of romance, full of suspense and full of faith, so much that you cannot put it down. I love the way the author introduces each character so well that you feel as if you know them personally by the end of the book.
Free-spirited Willow is secretly in love with Deputy Sam Brooks, who is dating her sister, Sierra Rose. Willow wants to be the youth pastor of their home town church and has a big heart full of love and trust and she wants to make a difference in the lives of these youth.
Sam, who wants to live the perfect, planned out life, is persuaded to be a guide, along with Willow, for the youth group to Glacier National Park. And, that is where the excitement and drama begins.
The story is also full of adventure and romance as you meet each member of the PEAK Rescue Team.
This is such a great series that I cannot wait until Book Three, A Matter of Trust, which is to be released in July.
Thank you, NetGAlley for providing me this book for my honest review.

Deputy Sam Brooks, a member of the PEAK rescue squad, can't forgive himself for not saving his father from freezing to death--or his brother Pete for his role in their father's death. He's determined not to lose anyone else. He's dependable, solid--not at all like Pete. Sam's just the right sort of guy for Sierra Rose, who is just as responsible as he is. Willow Rose, Sierra's free-spirited, tenderhearted younger sister, knows that Sam and Sierra are perfect for each other, so she's determined not to let her feelings for Sam show or grow. But when Sam and Willow, along with the new youth pastor and a few members of the youth group, are in an accident that leaves them wounded and lost in stormy weather, Sam has to reevaluate who he can depend on and who he really needs in his life.
There's a lot action and adventure in this story. The search and rescue work is really interesting. Willow is totally sweet and good-hearted, the sort of character I just can't help pulling for. Sam is broken and hurting, in ways he doesn't even realize, and I liked seeing his journey toward healing. There is an almost dizzying number of characters, and early on in the book it was a little hard to keep track of who was who and what all the back story was (probably especially because I haven't read the first book in the series), and that slowed the book down for me initially, but things picked up before too long. One thing that bothered me is that we see quite a bit of Pete and Jess, the girl he's falling for, but there isn't any resolution for them in the book--and since the next book in the series doesn't have them as the main characters, I'm a little worried if we're really going to see that resolution in a future book or not!

Rescue Me by Susan May Warren is a fast, action packed story that kept my heart racing. Suspense, intrigue, love and more take the characters from the beginning to end of the story. From the moments of being on the nature trail and encountering bears to the relationship between friends and families, I kept wanting to know more about the characters. This one was hard to put down. Thank you to the author, the publishers and Net Galley for a copy of this story. This is my honest and personal opinion of the story.

Despite growing up in a hippie commune, Willow has things pretty on track in life. She is a shoe-in for the youth worker position at church. But when tragedy strikes, some feel her discretion is lacking…a belief she comes to share all too soon. She just can’t help comforting someone who’s hurting…but that compassion makes things difficult for her. Her faith, though, is strong and vibrant. When she, Sam, and a bunch of youth meet up with difficulty, her faith is put to the test. She reminds others, “It’s right now that you have to dig down and ask yourself what you believe. Is God with us or isn’t he?” (location 4102). She acknowledges that even if they don’t get helped the way they’d like, that doesn’t mean God has abandoned them.
This is a fascinating survival story. I was glad I was reading it from the comfort of my home although the storm winds were blowing and the temperatures were frigid outside. The tension was high and it was hard to put the book down knowing things were precarious.
I didn’t know if I would like this series as well as I liked the Christiansen family series, but the characters and the danger and the setting have really grown on me. I felt for Pete who can’t escape from his past in his brother’s eyes. I enjoyed his personality and am looking forward to his crusade in the next book.
Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. No review was required. All opinions are my own.

Oh my goodness. I dove headlong into Rescue Me right after finishing Wild Montana Skies. I cried throughout the entire book, which I've never done before. What an intensely emotional book.....and that's saying a lot because the author's books are usually quite emotional.
Sam and Willow are amazingly beautiful people who others trust and love but they have a hard time loving themselves. They also have a hard time letting go of the past. Yet God's forgiveness, grace, and redemption step into the picture to show them who they really are. Sam's character turns from dark, brooding, and angry to free and forgiven. Willow becomes less fearful and self-condemning.
I was hoping for a progression in Ian and Sierra's story....alas, still holding my breath for their relationship to actually take off...
And I really loved the introduction of Pete, Sam's brother, and Jess as his possible love interest. They work together for PEAK and both are more alike than they realize. Both are in need of God's grace, forgiveness and redemption....which Pete steps toward in this book. Reconciliation for Pete in this book with his past and family is quite heartfelt.
When is book 3 coming out?!?!?! I'm going into Mercy Falls withdrawal already! Will book 3 focus on Pete/Jess? Maybe finish out Ian/Sierra saga? Bring in other teammates of PEAK? Ahh...the agony of waiting....
I received a digital advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are my own.

Willow is in love with Sam Brooks. She has been for years. But Sam only has eyes for Willow's sister, Sierra. And Willow can't blame him. Sierra is everything that Willow is not: organized, routine-oriented, and confident. Besides, Willow needs to focus on her own dream: convincing the church board that she's the right person to lead the youth. And with her history that's not easy.
Sam has his own issues to work through. His father's death was a long time ago, but neither Sam nor his brother Pete have ever been able to work through how it happened. Sam still blames Pete and Pete himself doesn't do anything to change that.
When a freak accident leaves Sam, Willow and a group of teenagers stranded in the mountains, they will need to trust each other and work together to be rescued.
While I've enjoyed many of Susan May Warren's other books immensely, Rescue Me didn't appeal to me. It lacked the complex plot that some of her other books have. There were also far too many romance stories entwined through the plot- it seemed as though by the end of the book almost everyone was paired off. It made the story feel too easy and predictable.
I rate this book a two out of five stars. I received a complimentary copy from Revell Publishing.

What a great story! Every time I read a book by Warren I feel as i'm right there with her, in the story. I love it! I think Sam is one of my favorite characters in a long time

I got introduced to Susan May Warren's books last year with her Christiansen family series. I enjoyed that series. I didn't think she could get any better than that series but she hit a home run with this series. I'm loving it and can't wait until the next book in the series will come out later this year.
This book features Sam Books and a love triangle. He's dating Sierra Rose but there is some chemistry going on with Willow. Both Willow and Sam try to fight the chemistry. Neither of them want to hurt Sierra Rose who has had enough hurt in her life lately with Ian. When Willow and Sam are thrown together on a hiking trip in the widerness of Glacier National Park with a group of church youth the chemistry cannot be denied. An event happens where everyone's lives are in danger and Sam and Willow must work together so that lives can be saved. This book was fast paced and romantic and I'm so anxious for the next book to come out to see what will happen next.
There has been a mystery running through this series that has been in effect since the prequel. Esme, the niece of Ian disappeared. It was mentioned in the last book and at first it was not going to be mentioned in this one but in the last few pages a clue surfaced. Is she alive or dead? I can't wait to find out but I have a feeling we won't know until the very last book as to the fate of Esme.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Fleming H. Revell Company for providing me a digital copy of this book to review. This book will be released on January 31, 2016.

Romance, clean, series, Christian elements.
Part of a series, but this is a stand-alone novel and can be read on its own. This was a GREAT read for me. There are lots of characters, and many story lines. They all come together as an accident happens and the PEAK Rescue team has to come together to save the lives of one of their own, and also heal some aching family hurts. Willow's faith, Sam's determination, Pete's bravery and courage and his secret heartache for one of the PEAK team make for an intense read. SMW knows how to combine action, romance, heartache, hard work, suspense, and honest sincere Christian characters (but truly the novel would appeal to most people) who in the face of overwhelming odds continue to hope, try to survive, and come to some healing as family and friends, and co-workers. A novel of community, faith, teamwork, and of course, hope for a meant-to-be romance. Always a lovely to read anything SMW writes.

Deputy Sam Brooks believes himself living the perfect life by being in love with Sierra Rose. She belongs in his orderly and predictable life, not like her flighty and carefree sister Willow. The two sisters couldn’t be more opposite in personality or thinking! Until one fateful trip taking a group of teens from church to Glacier Park shatters his perfect world! Fighting for their survival after an accident, can both Willow & Sam find out just how strong they can be working together?
Having read the first book of a new series “Wild Montana Skies”, it was with gleeful anticipation that I longed for this second installment of the Montana Rescue novels. Thank goodness I didn’t have to wait too long! Once the action started, each heart-pounding chapter ended on a cliff-hanger and I just couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, making me read much later in the night than I usually do! There was so much packed into this story and so many layers it had me completely engulfed, devouring the novel in just two mere days! It also had me savoring it long after I closed the final page. The romance had me smiling, anticipating how it would play out between all the characters. You can see both Willow and Sam fighting their feelings for one another for valid reasons, but really, how can you fight true love when it happens? Most importantly, I love the authors strong faith-theme that shine in these characters messy and all too real lives. She doesn’t sugarcoat the bad to tell a good story, she shows us how God fits into our all too messy lives and how He can pierce the darkness to shine His light. She knows exactly how to write beautiful stories that capture your heart and soul! She has the kind of character depth I love and quickly sweeps you into their lives, I am remiss to leave them for long. I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment to this fabulous series, in my opinion, these are not to be missed!
