I didn't enjoy this book and couldn't finish it. I think the only plus to this book is the recipes, but overall this book was very boring and not what I was expecting.

This was a good diet book but not as much new information as I would have hoped for. However, it does help me to be reminded of good eating habits. Even though I have heard the information before, I find it helpful when I learn a new reason why those healthy choices are good. It keeps me motivated to continue to make healthy choices.

I would recommend this book to any health conscious individual.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

I wasn't impressed, I thought it would be better and more step by step, I'm not interested in a lot of what this book offers, and would have liked something that would work with a normal diet not specialized drinks or foods

In his book, Stork shares how we can better our health by focusing primarily on our gut. What foods are most beneficial to our gut health? Plants! While I am still reading this book, I am finding it easy to read and filled with good advice that will help us today and in the future. Many of us don't get enough fiber, and it is key to developing a healthy gut and overall health as well.

So, what now? Travis doesn't tell us we need to go vegetarian or vegan, but encourages his readers to implement plants into their diet. There is much information in this book, to help readers in their journey to better their health. There are many diets out there, but plant based seems the one that I am leaning towards. Food can actually be our medicine. Won't we give it a honest try?

Initially, I was so excited to read this book. I am a fan of the author and previously watched his television show on a daily basis. When I started reading the book, I was hopeful that I could actually follow the eating plan, as prescribed. However, as I continued reading, I lost interest in the plan. It just seemed to difficult to follow, with too many restrictions. I admit that I did not follow the plan, so I am not qualified to make any statements about its efficacy. In the future, I plan to read the book again and try some of the author's suggestions. With an open mind, I hope to try again.

Stork does a great job of explaining about the little critters in our stomachs, what they do, why we need them, and how to get more of them. Very informative and even provides recipes. Great resource!

Travis Stork, M.D, has gathered together all the latest information on eating healthy and losing weight in this book. If you have had any interest in the “keep your gut healthy with probiotics” craze or think that carbs should be ruled out when dieting, pick up a copy of this. I believe he has comprehensively covered all the questions you could think of asking.

He goes on to explain serving sizes, and how many of those servings we should actually eat—since that is one of the biggest reasons we put on weight to begin with. The book continues with sample menu plans that I found especially helpful, and recipes to jumpstart a new journey into a life of healthier eating.

Some of the included recipes are: bacon cheddar breakfast burrito; black bean breakfast bowl; chicken salad with chickpeas, green beans, and tomatoes; hearty lentil soup; easy chicken barley soup; quinoa stuffed peppers; quick-fix spinach lasagna; white bean chicken chili; Thanksgiving salad; pork kabobs; garlic shrimp; skillet enchiladas; chicken, pork beef or shrimp stir fry; baked fish with tomatoes and olives and bulgur tabbouleh. Also included are recipes for salad dressings, chow chow, dips, salsa, hummus and more.

I feel that this plan is an easy one to adopt. I can certainly mix and match my choices to become healthier and lose weight. I can also have foods that I actually enjoy eating.

This is quite a technical book filled with great dietary advice. The author is a medical doctor and fills in wth lots of 'medical' reasons to eat a better diet. I found the book quite useful and informative and will apply some of his ideas into my diet.

This book is not helpful at all. It's just a revamp of other diet books I have read.

This is a great read for a newcomer to the world of weight loss. I thought that much of the information in the book is not new to those who are health conscious but it did come across in a way that was informative, but not boring. It kept my interest. I liked the way Dr. Stork "talked" to me. There are some wonderful recipes in here and they are ones I actually have time and resources to make.

I really was looking forward to this book and while it had plentiful information and some of it was new. Much of it was already written and then alot of it also was very technical.
There could have been much more of the practical in this book with more recipes and things.
overall, not bad but could have been better.

Over the past few years, I've been interested in microbes and the role they play in our health. Thanks to various podcasts and journals, my curiosity has been heightened.

When I saw this book, I initially thought it will be one of those faddish books. I was wrong.

Travis breaks down the benefits of having a great gut (which he described as having healthy microbes in your gut and ensuring you eat food that protects them).

After going in details to describe how food affects us and how it can be medicinal, he takes a further step of recommending good gut food and how we can make them in his "Dr. T’s Hack".

There is a lot of learning to be gleaned from this book and he writes in such a way that you're enabled to make right eating decisions for yourself.

Favourite quote: "The Lose Your Belly Diet is not just a weight-loss plan—it’s an eating strategy that you can follow for the rest of your life.

When people follow fad diets that are impossible to stick with long-term, they stay on them just long enough to hit their weight-loss goals.

Then, they ditch their crazy, unsustainable diet and go back to eating the way they did before they started losing weight. But that’s not how we roll with the Lose Your Belly Diet."

This book is NOT just another fad diet book... definitely quite the opposite! Dr. Travis Stork explains how the health and well-being of microbes that live in our gut are connected.

The Lose Your Belly Diet is full of nutritional information and has a great eating plan that puts its emphasis on eating whole grains, legumes and probiotic foods. You will also find recipes in the back of the book to help you on your healthy journey.

A well-researched book that has a lot of detail and thought behind it! Highly recommended!

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
