At one time churches were only interested in developing a vision for their own corporate life. A church with a vision normally indicated a church with a plan to grow. Times are changing and churches are recognising that those visions were not wrong, simply not big enough. The big vision is to ask what God would want our towns and cities to look like, and what he wants us to do about that. With that comes a recognition that no on church can be all that a city needs, we have to work together. and it also means that we cannot just emphasise the work of the clergy, it is the workers in the city that have a chance to see change come. This book reflects some of those changes.Mac Pier reflects not only his own experience in New York, but also on the work that is happening around the world. It's big picture stuff sitting alongside specific stories. It seeks to be encouraging to people wondering what might be possible in their place.
