This is a popcorn read.

It's suspenseful, exciting, and thoroughly illogical.

You have a main character with the most unlikely and unbelievable background, a police officer who should immediately be thrown off the force, and criminal masterminds who aren't very good at what they do.

It's very hard to suspend your sense of disbelief as you read. If you can manage it, you'll likely tear through the book in a couple of hours and find that you are enjoying the cat and mouse game the author gives us.

In the back of the book, the author tells us there will be a sequel, but it's not really necessary. I think perhaps the story should end exactly where it ended.

A woman is living a perfect life with a wonderful husband when she receives a call that she perceives to be be from a Wrong Number. When she mentions the call to her husband he becomes nervous and the next day he goes missing with no note. She reluctantly goes to her ex boyfriend who is a detective to ask for his help. She finds out her husband is not who he said he was but why did he disappear? I thought this was a well written book but it wasn't what I expected.

Wow is all I can say for this book, wish I could give it more than 5 stars. It kept me hooked from the first few pages and I couldn't put it down.
Amanda's life is great, perfect home, great husband and she enjoys working from home.
Suddenly one day she receives a phone call at home asking for a man she has never heard of, which changes this perfect life. The next day her husband Will disappears completely. Where is he? Why has he gone?
Lots of twists and turns throughout the book. So looking forward to the next instalment.

A compelling story that begins with an unexpected phone call. Several twists. The ending wasn't as I expected but then I read that there is to be a sequel (which hopefully will be available to request on Netgalley)
I did enjoy this story and look forward to the "follow on" which will tie up all the loose ends

Wrong Number is a brilliantly thought out and wonderfully written thriller, Jones writes in such a way that you are able to keep up with all the twists and turns and the various plot lines without loosing your way.
Amanda is a great character and I really warmed to her, she knew what she wanted and she did everything she could think of to get it - her husband that is!
The ending is quite abrupt and left a couple hanging in the wind but I am certain that there will be a sequel which will tie up those loose ends perfectly, and I for one cannot wait to read it!

The cover stands out on this book and after reading the blurb, it was a book I really wanted to read.
Will and Amanda Thorne, seem to be living the dream, a great house, good jobs, a perfect marriage and a promising future until one day Amanda gets a phone call asking for a Jake Burton, the caller is insistant that he lives there. When Amanda later mentions it to Will he seems distant and goes off to bed. When Amanda wakes up in the morning Will has gone, leaving no trace of his usual rountine. When will's boss calls and says he hasnt turned up for work, Amanda reports him missing. With the help of her ex boyfriend Shane, who is now a detective, Amanda goes on a mission to find Will and will stop at nothing to locate him.
I actually really enjoyed this book, it captivated me from the beginning as it jumped straight into the story rather than dragged it out. I couldnt put it down once I started reading it. Yes there were a few places where I was thinking that just wouldnt happen or where the heck are the police in all of this, because if you took Shane out of the book, the police werent actually doing a lot to find Will. All I knew about the situation was what I had read from the blurb, so I really didnt know much about where this was going. It was the kind of read that kept you on your toes and had you thinking about what was coming next? There are some surprises in store with a few twists and turns that I didnt see coming. I must admit I was a little disappointed in two major things that happened near to the end of the book, it kind of left me thinking Really? After all this?. Now I am not too sure where the book can go after this. But I am glad the story didnt just end here, as it was an abrupt ending. Im really looking forward to getting stuck into the next book when it is out.

I can't say I really enjoyed this one, I spent more time wondering about the details which didn't add up than getting immersed in the story.
The constant inconsistencies of things like B&B one minute and hotel the next; the south of Scotland being north of Glasgow, and the time taken to travel the same distance twice differing enormously annoyed me and the most irksome thing, as a Scot, was the idea that our overnight accommodation (B&B or hotel?) should offer threadbare curtains and chairs with the frame showing through the upholstery! The weather had it's ups and downs too .. heathers springing up everywhere regardless of the season - no idea which season it was - and covering paths - really? Fallen leaves, clear nights, torrential rain all in the space of less than half an hour? The research for this one just wasn't up to scratch for me.
I really expected to find this was a debut novel, but no, there have been plenty before it. What really shocked me was to find it described as a psychological thriller ... in all honestly I just couldn't wait to get finished it and move on.
Not one I'd recommend and I doubt if this is an author I would load onto my kindle again.

Amanda and Will Thorn live to an outsiders eye a perfect life, good jobs, immaculate new home and very much in love but all that changes when a stranger rings the house phone asking to speak to a person they are adamant lives there, within 12 hours of Amanda telling Will about the phone call he has disappeared from her life.
This book I have noticed has got some bad reviews and I can't personally think why as I thought it was a great suspenseful read, starting out as a perfectly normal couple the plot moves to Will disappearing and leaving you half way through the book wondering whose past has caught up with them. I thought the lead character was quite strong the only part I didn't think was really reading true is if she was so in love with Will why did she almost fall back in love with her first love, Shane, within days of him starting to help her find Will. Other than that I really enjoyed this read, oh apart from the ending which was quite abrupt but because of that will definately be reading the next one.

First off I loved the cover and title of this thriller. It grabbed me from the start. Plus the synopsis. It sounded very promising. When the phone call happened I was very intrigued. The story started off slow but gradually picked up. The writing is pretty good but I just could not stay captivated in the story. Something was missing for me. I think it may have been too predictable. There are some loose ends that need to be tied up and I understand there is a second book coming back. I liked it enough to give the second one a chance. I just feel that this could have been a great thriller but only turned out to be just an ok one.

I’ll be honest, there were great parts and okay parts for me in this book. The last half of this book was definitely the most engaging part in my opinion. Let me go over this in detail. The prologue was amaze-balls but it also made one thing very clear to me and that’s the fate of Amanda’s husband. The following chapters were a flashback to Amanda’s picture-perfect life, with her picture-perfect husband Will. No children yet but I’m guessing they would have been picture-perfect too. Then one day she gets a call, someone asking for a man who obviously doesn’t live there. She doesn’t pay this a lot attention but the next day when she wakes up her husband Will is gone. Which is normal. He goes to work every day, only that day he didn’t kiss her goodbye, he got out of the house earlier than the alarm even went off and, what she soon discovers, he never arrived at work nor can he be reached.

The chapters that followed were a bit slow-going, especially since I already knew his fate by that time. It didn’t hold the desired tension and the only thing that kept playing in my head was WHY? Why would a man with a perfect marriage walk out like that? I kind of willed her to remember the phone call but she’s so naive that there was a longish lead-up towards remembering that call. But then things finally accelerate when she teams up with her ex-boyfriend Shane, who happens to be a rising detective, and when they jump in his car following a lead the pace definitely picks up. The situation Amanda gets herself into is an unexpected dangerous one. I was under the impression this would be more of a classic psychological thriller but this one was definitely action-packed. The reason why he left the house and went missing was quite mind-blowing. Didn’t expect this plotline at all and neither did I expect the gun-blazing ending.

Wrong Number had a good plot and the writing was easy and enjoyable. The dynamics with Shane were particularly great, they have so much history together and he’s nothing like her husband but you can feel they have unfinished business. The opposites against Shane and Will will definitely make you want to choose your favorite man so in the end I was quite satisfied with how things played out. There is however also an unfinished thread and I admit I was a bit disappointed it wasn’t given a nice little ending because it was a recurring plotline and quite an important and intriguing one too. It’ll be resolved in the sequel of this book and I can tell you that it holds a lot of promise. It might be even the key to liking it even better than this novel.

This is an ok story, but I found it a little adolescent in its writing style, and the ending I found was too abrupt.

WOW!! If I could get away with writing that for my review I would but I can't but it really does sum up my whole take of Wrong Number.
I was a bit afraid to read Wrong Number at first, mainly because the blurb and how they ring Amanda's house and I was worried it was going to be like a horror in the making but thankfully it wasn't too scary. (Mainly as I read it in the night as well.)
Amanda Thorn is your typical woman, she works from home, is married to a perfect man who walked into her life at the right moment and they have a wonderful marriage. That is until, one call changed everything Amanda had ever believed and known in less than 24 hours.
Will Thorn is a normal man, goes jogging every morning, drives to work and loves to spend his free time with his wife. Although, he isn't a normal man at all, he has secrets. Secrets that could destroy the life he has built for himself, secrets that only he knows and would be willing to die for.
When Amanda gets a strange call from a man asking to speak to someone who didn't live there, Amanda didn't think anything of it. So when she says about it to Will later that night, she isn't expecting the chain-reaction of events that follow. Waking to find Will gone, Amanda is thrown into a world of uncertainty and not knowing what happened to him.
Although, Will isn't who anyone though he would be and Amanda realises that her life with him has been a lie and that she is married to someone she doesn't really know at all.
I couldn't believe the twists and turns that Wrong Number takes, it is thrilling and exciting all at the same time. I loved Amanda's character as similar to most female lead character's she is strong and determined but she is only heartbroken and doesn't know who to trust. This story made me have a range of different emotions, sadness for Amanda, unable to trust Will's character as you can't tell what is real and what isn't and loss not just for Amanda but for Will as well. I won't say what but if you read their story then you will see what I mean.
Wrong Number is so much more than a psychological thriller, it is a story about trusting the people we know, thinking we know them when we don't and love them regardless of the lies that they tell us as they always sound so believable. I can't wait for the next part in this series.
If I had to sum this book up in three words, they would be Unpredictable, Thrilling and Captivating.

This novel was interesting enough to keep me reading, but I definitely didn't love it. I'm trying to figure out a way to talk about this book without spoiling too many things. So, from the get-go we learn that Amanda used to be a hacker, which was super exciting for me because I've always found the dark net and hacking to be an interesting topic. However, the novel really doesn't get into too much detail on this, and that let me down a lot. I mean... if you're a brilliant hacker, I want to know how it works and what you do and how it helps you. Also, Amanda really isn't the smartest cookie. It took her ages to make the connection between the phone call and her husband and even then, she didn't act on it until close to the halfway point in the story. Most of the doubting comes from her mother, not from her, who is terribly unsupportive and is constantly undermining Will; too much of the same words can get to be really annoying after a while! There was also a love triangle thrown in there that made me cringe a bit. Amanda is out looking for her husband who has literally just disappeared. It's only been two days so why is she suddenly talking about her relationship with her ex and mentioning buried feelings? Definitely not a great time for that! Based on the description I read, I was hoping for super devious stuff and a crazy plot twist, but the reveal was a let-down and everything was just super predictable after that. The ending was rushed, and I didn't understand why everything was happening so fast, until I saw that there is a sequel for this novel coming out in May. I hate being left hanging waiting for what happens next, so I have half a mind to read the sequel just to see how the story progresses! Overall, not a bad job for a debut novel but it was definitely not branded right and so, it didn't meet my expectations.

I was keen to read more and this one ends rather abruptly, so I can't wait for the next one in the series to be released. You are taken along on the adventure and left yearning to know more.
It shows you that even a perfect life can be hiding all sorts of things you'd rather not discover.

Great suspense in this book.. the beginning starts rather slow.. gets better towards the middle so keep on reading! ?Seemed to me like the end just ended. done, no more, i wanted more.

An intriguing psychological thriller!

I gather that 'Wrong Number' is a debut novel for Carys Jones. From the outset, I was lured into this intriguing psychological thriller! It is fast paced which makes it a real page turner.

It introduces us to the apparently blissful newlyweds, Amanda and Will Thorne. They have the perfect home and all is hunky dory! One evening Amanda answers the land line and a wrong number certainly stirs up a hornets’ nest.

As I tend to avoid spoilers as much as possible, then suffice it to say that all is not what it seems for the couple. Amanda proves to be an extremely strong character, which is just as well as she has to unravel a series of unusual and disturbing clues.

Amanda's ex-boyfriend, Shane has a very important part to play in the scheme of things, and Amanda's mum has her own strong opinions.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and awarded four and a half stars, as the ending was slightly implausible. However as there is to be a follow up from Carys Jones, then maybe it was deliberate, so I will certainly look out for it.

Wrong Number was a good read but it was a bit predictable & somewhat slow. I also felt I was sorta just dropped into the story without enough background on Will & Amanda.

That being said I did find it an entertaining read & I will check out more by Carys Jones
