The love story between Ebon and Mary was good but the plot of the story was a but tricky as it is all over the place and hard to follow.

Im just not sure about this story, I found it to be all over the place and the timeline was just confusing?

The love story itself between Ebon and Mary was enjoyable to read, but for how short the novel was, everything happened far too quickly.

There was many moments where I didn’t understand why the author chose to tell us readers certain things, they could have easily been left out and more important things could have been put in.

Eban and Mary's love story in one about overcoming harsh trials and finding the strength to move on. They came through stronger together and as stronger individuals.

One breath away follows Mary and woman put to death but survives due to unforeseen circumstances , however the trauma of her near death experience still haunts her and affects her ability to climax . Enter Eban a man who knows what he wants and what he wants is Mary , with his own tragic past he knows that he may be the only one to help Mary heal if she would just let him. Through healing he hopes that Mary will one day feel for him what he feels for her. Edge of your seat final conflict and a beautiful ending that they both deserve.

Oh and FYI no one likes being called a mountain .

What an unusual story and honestly that is what made me pick it up because I am not one for reading historical fiction. I was rooting for Mary and Eban to find happiness together throughout and the fact that they had shared trauma that Eban was able to help her through made me root for them even more. I have read lots of erotica but I liked that this took a more nuanced route.

When I read the description of this book, I was highly skeptical. A BDSM asphyxiation book set in Post-Civil War featuring ex slaves? Very strange. But this book was NOTHING like I thought. It had everything: heat, love, romance, scandal, mystery, betrayal and a happily ever after. I was weeping at the end for Eban and Mary in a way I wasn't expecting.

Michal Scott, who calles herself a Christian Erotic writer, does seemingly meld the secular and spiritual in a very profound way. I wish i could give it more stars.

This book was not for me. I had a hard time getting into the story. I did like the smut, but that was more towards the end. I was super invested in the characters, so I skimmed most of the non-smut scenes. While I might not have liked the book, that doesn't mean that others shouldn't give it a try.

I LOVED THIS STORY! This is a very well-written short story.
The setting of the story is well-thought and I can picture everything of this period. The pacing was good.
Definitely recommend this one!

I don't read historical romance/erotica often but this is the second book I've read from this author and I have enjoyed what I have read so far. It's a quick read but the full story is told. Well written and I would read more from this author.

This book really hooked me!! It wasn’t what I was expecting but it really sucked me in. It was a quick read and a good story! Set back in the 1800’s; it’s a love story like no other. The plot is great and it’s so well-written with the language and worldly information being accurate as to the time period.

A poignant story about trust, and love, and overcoming pain. I felt a connection with Mary through the pain she experienced and its lasting psychological effects. The book is engaging and kept me wanting more. A good love story.

I enjoyed this historical romance. I loved the time period. There was also a bit of suspense. It was a good book and I highly recommend it.

This was not my type of book. I got a third of the way through and decided to give it up.
