BOOK REVIEW:

FINALLY we get to find out what Emily is hiding from her past/present!!! It definitely is nothing that I had concocted in my head of what I thought had happened to her!

Lisa Renee Jones continues the Dirty Money Series full of plenty of suspense, romance, and more secrets and lies amongst the characters. I love how she keeps the reader in the dark on what exactly is happening, but its not frustrating where you want to throw your Kindle down.

I also love the portrayal of Shane & Emily's romance where its not in your face lovey dovey on their fast track romance. Jones hits this steamy ratio perfectly with the drama and suspense, but also still plenty of romance!

"It's not me anymore. It's us. It has been since the moment we shared that first cup of coffee. Us, Emily."

I felt Damage Control was much faster paced and I devoured this book in day. Now off to read Bad Deeds, Book #3 in the Dirty Money Series!

Great continuation from Hard Rules, it just sucks you in and you can't wait to see what happens next.

Picking up right where book one left off, Shane finally learns Emily's secret she's been hiding from him, and everyone else. I liked that with Emily's story line we learned who her mysterious phone was for and why she was on the run. This allowed us to continue to explore Shane's family tycoon turmoil while learning of new dangers from Emily's side.

We also had a chance to see them grow into one another a bit more now that both of their secrets were out. Damage Control felt more like the suspenseful romance I wanted it to be and less like the history novel sensation of Hard Rules.

Jones seemed to spend a lot more time in this story setting up for the pieces to fall in line in book three.

Longer review coming in book 3

Damage Control picks up where Hard Rules left off. Shane confronts Emily with her lies. She isn’t the person she told him she was. Emily may have hidden her identity, Shane’s suspicion angers her. She is in trouble and she doesn’t want to expose him to danger by association. She is on the run and is targeted by a powerful international hacker organization. She can’t afford to get attention.

Even though she wants him to let her go, they have a bond that can’t be denied. Shane wants to finally get to know the true Emily, but doesn’t believe that she is his enemy. He is not worried by her secrets, but he can’t accept that she doesn’t trust him with her true identity and motivation. He never loses, and he won’t accept to lose her. Shane is in deep, he can’t stay away from Emily, and she doesn’t want him to.

Emily wants to be Shane’s partner, she is no damsel in distress. Shane has many enemies and is surrounded by people of double standards and opportunists. He could definitely use Emily’s help to find ways to clean up Brandon Enterprises. There is a strong rivalry between him and his older brother, to the point that they have become enemies in a battle to gain control of his family conglomerate. Shane intends to take the lead of the company, clean up the dark and dirty side of its business activities and put an end to his family’s connections with cartels.

Mystery, duplicity, white lies and scorching hot romance all come into play with this brilliant series by Lisa Renee Jones. But beware of the cliffhanger! The writing style of Ms. Jones is utterly addictive. I never can get enough of her fast-paced, riveting stories. I can’t wait for the next installment in this intriguing story, “Bad Deeds”.

This book begins right where Hard Rules left off as Shane confronts Emily about her past as he believes that it is somehow connected to his family when the real reason is that she wants to protect him from the danger that she brings. She runs believing that is the only way to protect him but Shane is not about to let her go so that only delays the inevitable.

Once she shares her past with him it only adds to the burden he carries between the people from her past and the criminal element that his family has brought to their lives but he still forges forward with the plans to legitimize the family business. The only thing that allows him to continue is his desire to have Emily in his life and ensure her safety but will he be successful?

The suspense, secrets and twists continue but at the same time the deep love and connection between Shane and Emily becomes stronger. Thank goodness Bad Deeds is out Aug 8. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

A romance story that is equal parts sexy, dangerous and full of suspense. You will need to read book 1 first, but you will get hooked into Emily and Shane and their relationship no matter how intense and at times fractured it is still all consuming for them both. Looking forward to reading book 3

This is turning out to be such an awesome series! There is so much going on that no one can claim to be bored. You've got two crazy families, the mob, FBI and a million secrets that are coming to light.

You will want to start with book 1, Hard Rules. Just a small recap, Emily and Shane hook up for a one night stand only to find out Emily's new job is at Shane's company. As these two kept getting drawn together, Emily realizes Shane is in the middle of a tug of war with the family business. Shane realizes Emily is not who she says she is and he's determined to find out what she's hiding.

Damage Control picks up right where Hard Rules left off. Shane is determined to get the truth out of Emily and vows to protect her, all the while he is battling his father, brother and even his mom to keep their company clean and gain control. His brother is mixed up with the mob and is willing to do anything to get the control of the business.

Shane is cleaning up one disaster after another. He's willing to do almost anything to keep Emily safe and Emily is trying to help Shane by spying on his father and brother. This book kept me guessing the whole way through and I loved it! It does continue onto book 3. ARC provided NetGalley.

I'm really toggling between 4 & 4 1/2 stars so I figure I will round up to 5 because that is what I do for a 4 1/2 star rating. Damage Control is the second in the Dirty Money series and I really enjoyed it. The characters are wonderful and complex. I loved all of the dimensions that each character has. Shane and Emily are quick witted and it was a lot of fun to see the chemistry between the characters.

I'm completely intrigued by the plot line of this series. I have been wanting to get to the end the second I started reading this book. I'm glad that this book grabbed my attention more than "Hard Rules" it was a quick read (when I didn't have to stop due to a week long migraine).

All in all, I really like this series and I cannot wait to read the ending.

4.5 Stars Damage Control is book 2 in the Dirty Money series and returns us to Shane & Emily. Brothers will be tested and secrets revealed, will Shane and his men be able to contain the fall out or will the past put a shadow on the future. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading book 3

Shane's life is spiraling even more out of control. He thought once he had Emily back and now that her secrets are all out in the open and she's been protected, that just maybe his life might somehow go right for once. But, Derek and Brandon Senior are still playing games, especially Derek. As the suspense and intrigue heighten, Shane struggles with the darkness inside him that he doesn't want to acknowledge, and doesn't want Emily to ever see.

Emily is now committed to protecting Shane by standing at his side, not by running from him. But, how can she protect him if he won't let her in completely, won't allow her to know everything going on? As much as I like Shane, that is the crux of my problem with him - he demands complete honesty from Emily, but when push comes to shove he doesn't give her the same respect, not until the very end. I'm hoping that in Bad Deeds, he'll open up completely or they won't have a chance of making it.

Bring on the 3rd and 4th stories, can't wait!

Oh, what a tangled web of lies this family weaves...

This book picks up right where Hard Rules left off so if you did not read that one you don't want to start this one or you will be totally lost (I had to go back and re-read it because I was a year out from reading it). In this one we learn Emily's secret and more of Shane's family's absolutely dysfunctional ways. I have to say I am really enjoying this series and really glad I get to delve into the next book immediately!

I highly recommend this series and will not give anything away other than to say take a deep breath because there is a lot going on!

Most important part of this review - if you haven't read Hard Rules stop and do that first. This is a series that must be read in order. This book picks up right were Hard Rules left us hanging. In this one Emily and Shane's relationship is put to the test when Emily's secrets are uncovered and poor Shane is not only dealing with that but with his completely power and money hungry dysfunctional family. All this while trying to save the family business. No stress though. I was slightly let down with Emily's secret. I would have liked it to be a bit more dramatic but maybe there is more to come about this. Overall the book and series is fantastic so far.

The entire series is very well done and definitely not to be missed. If your not a fan of cliffhangers you may want to wait until book 3 Bad Deeds releases to start but DO start. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend it.

What is about walls or doors...? LOL.

Shane has a problem with it, but not me. Oh no! I love every time he presses Emily against a wall and frames her legs with his. Sighs.

Oh, sorry about that but I have to say it.

So about the book.

They say things get better in time. And Damage Control is no exception. Lisa Renee Jones grabbed my attention with Hard Rules. But with Damage Control, she has trapped me in a web of lies, power, control, and passion. And I don't see myself getting out of it.

"How do I protect her when our families are basically two tornadoes about to sideswipe us at any moment, or worse, collide, with devastating results?"

Here's hoping Emily's secret plays a bigger role in the next books, because seriously, that was it? All the buildup for that? It was a big thing, yes. But I was really expecting more. It was my only issue with the entire story. So, I had to get it off my chest.

Enough about my issues, let's talk about Shane and Emily. Their relationship took a big step in this book. While their relationship was just ok for me in the first book, in Damage Control I found myself cheering for their relationship so much more.

"It's not you anymore," he says, his hands back on my naked waist, branding me, seducing me. "It's not me anymore. It's us.

You have no idea how much I want them to win this shit. TOGETHER.

Everything around Shane & Emily is a nightmare. At times while reading this I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall... then I realized I needed to find out who would be the next one backstabbing Shane, so I just kept reading.

Angst will be your friend while reading Damage Control, so be prepared because the bombshells will come around when you least expect them and stab you in the face.

Overall, I loved it. It feels like a new addiction. I loved the characters, the writing style and I can't wait for the next book. I'm ready for some answers... and yeah, more questions.

The covers for the Dirty Money series are great. They are easy to distinguish with their unique branding and cover images. The covers grabbed me and made me want to give them a try. The author did not disappointing. Fun, quick, sexy reads with just the right amount of bad boy angst. I've already recommended them to my family and friends.

Damage Control is book #2 in the Dirty Money series. Hard Rules (book #1) MUST be read prior to this installment as Damage Control picks up where Rules left off.

** From Hard Rules review** Shane Brandon has abandoned a lucrative law career in New York to come back home and save his family's empire. An empire built by his father, a man not above dirty dealing and unscrupulous moves. Shane is a fantastic character. Definitely alpha male, wickedly smart, with the cunning and determination to pit his will against his father and equally questionable brother. Enter Emily. Emily meets Shane in the coffee shop in Shane's office building and then later that evening as she looks for a lost phone. Emily is an enigma. While she tries to appear as she presents, she is clearly hiding and has a secret. The character has an interesting mix of naïve and worldly, smart and ambitious yet overtly cautious. The chemistry between the two are off the charts and when they come together ~ explosive.

In Damage Control the intrigue is more intense, the danger higher and the enemies are moving in. I'm not sure how Ms. Jones managed to do it but this book is even more action packed and emotion-rocking than the first. The twists and turns, the emotions, the schemes are more intense drawing the reader deeper into the story. Shane and Emily try to fight their attraction and feelings for each other, while each fighting off their enemies and pasts , even as their romance heats up. Each trying to protect the other, making for a gripping read. Damage Control is another cliffhanger, with two more installments to go.

Get on this rollercoaster! It is worth the wait.

Picking up where Hard Rules left off, the story I immediately delves into Emily's secret. She and Shane must decide to move forward or part ways. There are more secrets, betrayals, family fighting and suspense throughout the story. The heat between Shane and Emily intensifies leading to a deeper connection that neither one of them planned for. It keeps you turning the pages and wanting to dive into Bad Deeds.

Stars: 4.5

Damage Control is book 2 in the Dirty Money Novel series and yes you must read Hard Rules which is book 1 of the series. You will actually need to read all the books and read them in order. I usually don't like books that don't give me a happily ever after. I absolutely love Damage Control, but I'm not happy about it being book 2 of a 4 book series, hence the 4.5 star rating, had I got my HEA this book would have been 5 stars.

Damage Control continues Shane Brandon and Emily Stevens story. In this book we learn what Emily is running from. It also continues Shane and Emily's love story. We get a glimpse into the "Brandon's" actives and why Shane took off to get away, only to be pulled back in by the way his family is running the "family business". Shane wants it all to be a legitimate business, however his brother Morgan does not. Which causes a riff. Then we learn about Emily's family as well. Neither families would get family of the year. So Shane and Emily with a little help from Shane's friend they start to make their way through the mess that their families call life. Emily does try to run only for Shane to jump in and become the hero. This is one book that will make you fan yourself. The suspense of not knowing who or what will be coming and the smoking HOT scenes between Emily and Shane are off the charts.

Lisa Renee Jones knows how to write and I love that she has a series that pulls you in and keeps you interested. Its not your typical romance book, sex/romance and just all around great story telling. My only complaint is that to many books to finally get my HEA, only on book 2 and a total of 4 books in the Dirty Money Novel series. Thankfully 3 or the 4 books are out and we don't have that long to wait for book 4. I thank you Lisa for writing a story that is not a cookie cutter book, its got some substance to it.

Minus not having the happily ever after, Damage Control is a fantastic read. I enjoyed every single page and I'm looking forward to more about this couple. Enjoy reading.
