Damage control continues straight on from the cliff hanger at the end of Hard Rules, yet another great book in this series. Emily's secret is revealed but not after she goes through a lot of soul searching, worrying that telling Shane of her past will put him in danger, she wants to leave him to prevent this, but he's having none of that vowing to protect her.
Shane is pulling out all the stops to prevent his brother Derek taking over the family business as he in deep with the Martina cartel who want to use the business to run drugs. Shane is desperate to shut this all down knowing it would bring everything crashing down and a probable jail sentence for Derek which in itself would drag the company under.
Full of mystery, twists and turns, a family in turmoil but also a great sexy romance, bring on book 3!

In Damage Control (Dirty Money #2), Lisa Renee Jones does it again! Shane and Emily's story continues. Emily's true identity is revealed as well as the mystery surrounding her. I'll say I didn't see this one coming, but then again when I read Hard Rules (the first book in the series) I wasn't sure where Lisa was going with the story--and that is a good thing because it kept me glued to my kindle.

Again, I am a bit shocked at Emily's secret. It was a total surprise. Now besides her attraction for Shane and vice versa, the reader knows what they have in common--their love for practicing law. This bit reminded me of my favorite TV series Suits. Then, there are their families. They are the worst though. It's as if neither they nor the reader knows who the real enemy is, and I'm intrigued.

Shane's father's change of heart made me do a double take, and I'm still trying to figure out what his game plan is and if he really is for #TeamShane.

But I'll also add that I went back to Hard Rules and reread the prologue because I am not convinced that Derek really is such a bad person. I guess I'll find out more in Bad Deeds.

I never get tired of reading Lisa Renee Jones because her stories are always full of unexpected twists and turns. I've been reading her books for years now and keep coming back. Yes, you can say I'm a fan. Anyone looking for a smexy thriller, this is THE series to read. You'll have to read it in order as the books can't be read standalone.

If you have been following my blog for a while you probably know that I am a big fan of Lisa Renee Jones and I have read a lot of her books do of course I just had to read this book.

Damage Control is book two in the Dirty Money series and you do have to read the first book in the series to fully understand what is going on with the main characters.

I absolutely loved this romantic, sexy and suspenseful books. Just like all of the other books by Lisa Renee Jones that I have read so far, I just couldn't (and didn't want to) put down.

I'm seriously LOVING this series!!

Damage Control starts where Hard Rules left off and thanks to Lisa Renee Jones for the refresher at the beginning, helped me get back into the story real quick.

As always Lisa Renee Jones has produced another sensational page-turner. I loved getting back into Emily and Shane's story, more secrets, loads of twists and turns, suspense, romance and some pretty hot scenes to get the blood pumping. I was hooked from the start to the very last page and I look forward to the next book. Hoping the wait isn't too long.

Definitely a series I recommend, go get started on Hard Rules!!

An excellent well written read. I couldn't put it down. I devoured it as soon as I could.

Damage Control is the follow-up book to Hard Rules which must be read first. This book picks up right where the first book leaves off and it is just as great a read as the first book in this series. When it comes to the Brandon family no one is safe. Everyone wants control and everyone is fighting and going to war to get where they want to be. I'm surprised by the way Shane's dad has taken a likeness to Emily but I'm wondering if she is also a playing piece in the game they all play so well. I finished this book and one sitting and can't wait to get my hands on the next book to see what happens with this family. As twisted, deceitful and revengeful as this family and these characters are, sure makes a great and unpredictable suspense read that will leave you wanting more.

This is book two is the series. These books do roll fully into each other, so definitely read them in order. I left off with the last book looking for more answers, this one delivered. We uncover a lot more plots and lots of failed attempts at resolutions. More insight and answers on the secrets Emily was hiding, and boy are the BIG. Still lots of loose ends and pieces on the board to be played but seems like the power has shifted.

When you want mystery, intrigue and sexual chemistry like none other, you can count on Lisa Renee Jones to deliver!

Damage Control picks up after the end of Hard Rules, where Shane begins to question Emily's identity after finding some alarming information. The real story here though, is the questionable fate of the Brandon empire. With Sr's health declining, Derek and Shane continue to battle for the throne. The problem: it's unknown whose side their father is on. Further issues, Derek is in bed with the Martina drug cartel, putting everyone's lives at stake.

The lust filled, passionate relationship between Shane and Emily is not to be ignored though. You feel it to your core, but it's not just the physical. They become so emotionally bound that even his family has decided to bring her into their protective bubble, going so far as to warn Derek away from her.

As I mentioned, Lisa nails it when it comes to stories full of suspense and mystery. This series is no different. I'm on pins and needles waiting for book 3 to see how the story concludes!

5 enthralling stars!

For some reason I have been into suspense novels within the romance genre. Let me tell you, Lisa Renee Jones completely fulfilled that my need for me in her Dirty Money series. But why oh why does Damage Control need to end with a cliffy?!?!?! UGH!!!

* NOTE ---> Damage Control (Dirty Money #2) is NOT a standalone!

To be honest, I had to reread Hard Rules (Dirty Money #1) over again so that I was remembering all of the details that come up in Damage Control (Dirty Money #2). Damage Control picks up right where Hard Rules ended.

"I could f*ck her right here and now, the way she's been f*cking me over and over for weeks."
~ Lisa Renee Jones, Damage Control (Dirty Money #2)

Emily has decided that she needs to leave in order to protect herself. But Shane is not having that. He realizes that he will stop at nothing to have back not only in his life, but his bed too.

"We fall into step as we often do, which is something I have never experienced with any other woman."
~ Lisa Renee Jones, Damage Control (Dirty Money #2)

So I am not going to say any more about this book simply because I do not feel like it would be fair to you to know what happens. I will not spoil it for you!!!

"It's not me anymore. It's us. It has been since the moment we shared that first cup of coffee. Us, Emily."
~ Lisa Renee Jones, Damage Control (Dirty Money #2)

Hard Rules & Damage Control were the first and only books that I have read from Lisa Renee Jones. I have enjoyed her work. She has a special way of making you love her characters and keeping you in suspense at the same time. The twists and turns that happen throughout these two books kept my attention and made me want more! I need Bad Deeds (Dirty Money #3) like yesterday!! Can't it be August yet?!?! If you have not read Hard Rules or Dirty Deeds, I encourage you to take these two books to the pool this summer and get lost in Shane & Emily's story.

"I've never had anyone I wanted to take care of until you."
~ Lisa Renee Jones, Damage Control (Dirty Money #2)

Lisa Renee Jones, you have gained a fan for life! I am looking forward to reading more of your work here soon.

Shane Brandon is hot! Just had to mention that from the beginning. Great book that's full of suspense, intrigue, and hotness. We finally find out Emily's story and get to see just how protective Shane is. Not only do they have to worry about Emily's past coming back to haunt her, but they have to worry about Shane's family and the mess that his brother has created. They seem to have the whole world working against them. That doesn't stop them from being totally steamy when they are together!

Definitely a page turner! Can't wait for more!

Jones is back with an exciting new entry in the Dirty Money Series. If book one was the slow burn setting up a story, volume two is a flamethrower burning up the pages with juicy details. We are finally getting answers to so many of our questions but they are leading to even more dangerous places. Dominoes that were so expertly placed are now beginning to fall and the vibrations are being felt by everyone involved.
Amidst lies, deceit, and betrayal, truths are unraveling. Jones sets up two stories that run side by side while connecting through Shane and Emily. The first is Shane's story; the issues with his family dynamics along with their businesses. Second is Emily and the current threats she's facing from an extremely dangerous source. Now that there are no more secrets between them, we find them working to eliminate the risks. Just as in the last book, we see an emphasis on trust and the importance it plays between characters. How it shapes them and their actions. There is a definite shift in both Emily and Shane, as well as in their relationship. Together, we see their strength and resilience. Formidable adversaries, not to be underestimated.
Jones has a way with words and a knack for storytelling. Underneath the excitement and fast-paced storyline is the dynamic prose and bold characters I've come to expect from her. I can't even imagine what she has in store for us next. I have a feeling that it won't be what I'm expecting but far exceed any expectations I might have.

One of the things I love most about Lisa Renee Jones and her novels is that with most of her books she starts off with this letter to the reader that recaps the last book for you. It allows me jump right in without having to do a complete re-read. I adore it. I find it one of the most helpful things an author can do. I know it isn't necessary, but it truly does help when it has been awhile since the previous book.

Okay. Now onto the WONDERFUL EPICNESS that was this novel.

I read it a few months back and just went and did a re-read. It was twice as good the second time. I swear. Lisa has crafted such complex characters in this novel with a story line that both engages and leaves you pondering and scheming right along with it.

Emily finally has to let everything come to the light. With the ending that we were left with I KNEW (or at least hoped) that Lisa was going to finally give us all the secrets. Thank goodness we finally start making headway on the chaos that is the cartel.

Then everything started moving really fast and I got hooked like an addict searching for another fix. I wanted to know what was coming next and if things were going to play out the way we all hoped. It was energizing to read.

By the time I got to the end of the book I was not only gripping my iPad like my life depended on that next page, but I was 100% TEAM SHEMILY or, whatever their team name is. I'm working on it.

All I know is they WILL get their happily ever, no matter who I need to bribe to make it happen. Cartels be darned.

Impressive. A brilliant, serious undertaking that any suspense romance lovers will appreciate it.

I relish the quality of this author's narrative that is only equaled by the sheer intensity of every scene and the clever plotting.

Many-layered dangers surround Emily and Shane, the main characters in the second part of the Dirty Money series. They have to juggle threats on multiple fronts, and every move forward is crackling with tension and foreboding.

The very beginning of this novel is a fantastic, secret-ridden, furious confrontation between Emily and Shane as he discovers she's more than what she seemed. It's a real battle of wills and fear and guilt and betrayal, and love. Without missing a beat of pure energy, they launch themselves into investigations, armouring themselves against countless enemies, while holding onto each other like they are the last surviving male and female on Earth. Wow.

I was engrossed in the way their relationship deepens in the face of demons from within and without. The passion that consumes them is stunningly detailed. I can only praise the delicacy in the feelings as much as the thought put into the tangled web of deceit, intestine war, power control and strategy of the plot.

Even though there is no cliffhanger per se, the last part is brimming with corruption, dark pacts, murder and vicious violence, hungry passion and an ongoing family feud that I'm eager to see the result of.

Shane has been pushed to the point of breaking. He has been holding on to his sanity, control with a great effort behind it. He may just have to take some steps that may send him further down that path. Come in read this one. If you had a taste with Hard Rules, then you most certainly needed to come in and lose a bit of your control with Damage Control. There was just something drawing and filling about Shane and Emily, together. They blazed the world around them with the intensity behind them and within them, separately and together. This time the rules are left behind and it’s time to control a bit more of the board. More twist. More secrets. More passion. More intensity. Just plain and simple MORE.

There is a very high chance that I will be rereading this one with each new book released in the series. This will be an addictive series just to see where it all will end. Who will survive? Who will not? How will it all come to a head?

DAMAGE CONTROL - Lisa Renee Jones
Dirty Money, Book 2
St. Martin’s Griffin
ISBN: 978-1250083838
February 2017
Contemporary Romance

Present Day - Denver

Shane Brandon knows Emily Stevens has a secret, and considering he’s fighting his own family as well as a local cartel for control of Brandon Enterprises, secrets are something he can’t afford. It would be easier to intimidate her into revealing everything if he didn’t like her so much. But when he does find out what Emily is hiding, he ends up just adding her problems to his own. When it rains, it pours, and Shane is in the middle of a monsoon.

Now that Emily has revealed her secrets, and gets Shane’s offer to help, it doesn’t make her feel any safer - now she’s just more nervous since she brought deadly trouble to Shane’s door. But despite the threat to her life, Emily is not about to let Shane deal with Brandon Enterprises alone. Essentially working as a spy within the company, she has to walk the line between being damaging enough to not let Shane’s family win, yet helpful enough to be kept on.

DAMAGE CONTROL is just as much of a roller coaster as the first book, HARD RULES. Shane and Emily just can’t catch a break, and the world is coming at them from all sides. Luckily, Shane has some allies in his corner, but the forces he’s against are brutal and take no prisoners. The story itself is dark, gritty, and so fast paced you won’t get a second to breathe.

This book cannot be read without first reading HARD RULES (August 2016). Due to the convoluted nature of the story, even if you have read HARD RULES before, I suggest you read it again right before picking up DAMAGE CONTROL, or some of the subtle secondary plots will be lost in the shuffle.

Shane and Emily’s story continues in BAD DEEDS coming August 2017.

This book carries on seamlessly from the first one, there's also a bit of a recap to help you jump right back into the storyline.

As with every LRJ book I've read, I loved this one! There's mystery, romance, secrets, alphas, strong females, steamy stuff... it has it all, and in true Lisa fashion, she gives us just enough to eagerly want the next book!

4 stars! Damage Control, book 2 (4). Shane & Emily must come clean about their secrets to gain the upper hand in a game!

“I wonder,“ I say my gaze finding hers, heat simmering low in my limbs, one part lust, another part fury, “how it is that I didn’t taste your lies. I wonder if they’ll taste differently now that I know they exist.”

Books in Dirty Money series should be read in order:
Book 1: Hard Rules
Book 2: Damage Control
Book 3: Bad Deeds
Book 4: End Game

In Hard Rules, book 1 job candidate Emily Stevens, on the run from something, met attorney and heir Shane Brandon. And so she was pulled into a fight for control over a fortune between a deathly ill father, a meddling mother, one good brother and one who seems to have fallen from grace.

Damage Control, book 2 opens up to distrust. While Shane and Emily battle out their insane attraction… in the bedroom, the world around them is caving in. They will find themselves entangled with mobsters and hackers in a power game riddled with secrets, greed, deception, danger and conspiracy.

SHANE BRANDON: 32 years/$$$$/Heir/Harvard Law/Attorney/Dark hair/Gray eyes/6’2”/Tattoo.
Nine words to describe Shane Brandon: Noble, perceptive, loyal, dutiful, dominating, powerful, conflicted, enigmatic and private.

EMILY STEVENS: 27 years/Aspiring law student/Secretary/Brown hair/Lt blue eyes/Orphan.
Nine words to describe Emily Stevens: Secretive, loyal, cautious, naive, smart, perceptive, confused, vulnerable and desperate.

Damage Control, told from dual POVs, is a suspenseful whirlwind romance featuring a struggle between right and wrong; good and evil in a fight over an empire, a legacy and a fortune. It ends leading right to book 3, Bad Deeds for the continuation of their saga!

This is not just another office romance read! This has twists and turns, love and hate.... lots of hate. We have Shane a fiercely protective male and Emily an equally protective female, both sexy and both with amazing chemistry! When Emily runs from Shane, can she hide to protect him? Can she share her secrets? Can he share his? This story is intense and the sides are picked and line are drawn. biting my nails for the next in the series.....

This series, it’s the same as the first full of suspense, mystery, steamy. I couldn’t put it down, enjoyed and devoured every single moment. Lisa Renee Jones is quiet the pro at writing these suspenseful romances. The story its self is so hard to put down, the males are irresistible and the woman are always easy to relate with.

Her writing will pull you in and keep you till the end. I can’t get into so much because you know its a suspenseful tail that you really need to unravel on your own. It’s best devoured without knowing anything. But I think that you will enjoy this series, especially if you enjoyed other books from this author. You’ve got to grab a copy but first read book one if you haven’t yet.

This story wont disappoint, I promise!

I don't think I will give this book a review review. Reading Damage control made me realize a couple of things. I want to read something from Lisa Renee Jones that doesn't have not even a hint of suspense in it. I felt like I was reading the Surrender all over again. I want to see Lisa Renee Jones writing something new. I don't mind so much the connection between different series, but I minded this. Maybe if the story had focused more on the romance I wouldn't have felt like this, but unfortunately this book tired me and I wasn't as happy with it as I was with the author's other works. I will continue reading her book because I like the writing style and there is something different each time, but I don't feel like recommending this book. I feel bad for saying this because I like the author, but this is how I feel. In her recent books the author gives the reader the chance to remember the names and some basic info on some important characters in the story that follows. As someone who doesn't re-read a book in preparation for the next one and reads a lot of books between releases I found this very helpful because it gives me a chance to remember what happened. The book dragged a little and I hope the third book in the series will bring more excitement with it. Maybe this is the reason I felt tired after reading Damage control. If you want to read this book, please be aware that it's not a stand alone novel and you have to have read the book in order to complete understand things. It wasn't for me, but I hope it will be good for you.
