Morgan is a vampire and a Lord and talks of the 1800’s and how beauty was a valuable commodity intellect, and arts was keys to society and success. Morgan has been a vampire for four centuries. In time of trouble Morgan already returned to his ancestral home Royal oaks and his piano. Morgan had his back to the Chief Counsel Lucien of of the ruling body of of Vampyre. At midnight Lucian arrived at Royal Oaks arrived with the news. Lucien had driven his car to tell Morgan there was no such thing as forever. Morgan had never seen the Chief Counsel rattled as Lucien’s self control was legendary. The emotion in Lucien's black eyes was fear.Lucien wanted Morgan to be his lover. Lucien had driven straight from an emergency meeting of Les Elus and said they were all in jeopardy. There had been an episode of anthrax in Audorra. Humans died and also some vampires had died and turned into ash. Vampires should not perish from diseases fated to humans or very few other tricks of the Grim reaper. If the Vamprye Effect can be undone then the possibility of returning back to humans existed. That is what Morgan wants. Soon after Morgan transformation Lucien found him wandering in Paris Vampire mother had been destroyed. Morgan had been with Lucien one night sexually but Morgan wasn’t into men. Morgan wanted to get a scientist to go with him to Audorra. The best candidate was Dr. Wolfe and Morgan was anxious to meet him. He sounded perfect for Morgan’s secret assignment. Then when Morgan met Dr. Wolfe he was very surprised to see the Dr. was a girl. They were leaving for Audorra where the anthrax outbreak was the next day. Morgan knew it was it was the viral mutation of human DNA that causes vampirism. Amber Wolfe eventually learns of Morgan’s immortality and she wants that for herself.
I couldn’t really get into this book. It confused me at times. I just couldn’t get into it. I tried but just didn’t enjoy this so couldn’t make myself read the rest.
