A fascinating look at the pioneers of women in medicine in America. In-depth essays cover the important figures, but we also get some tantalizing glimpses of lesser-known female doctor, husband-and-wife teams, widows who turned to medicine to support their families. Excellent work on the part of the writers and editors.
