I really enjoy arm chair travel and this was a fun cycling trip through Eastern Europe. The author battles weather, history, borders, bad roads, hunger and still manages to keep going with a sense of humor. Not only did I travel to some new to me countries I also learned a lot of cold war history. The landscape described is rather dark and depressing but I still found the journey interesting. The writing is very good and the author does a great job. Enjoy this humorous cycling journey through many forgotten areas of Europe from the comfort of your favorite armchair.

A engrossing travelogue for bike enthusiasts - the author is definitely present here, so if you are put off by his humor or "voice" after the first chapter I'd say give this a hard pass, for readers who enjoyed him (and I did!) this is a very good time.
