A Touch Ms. Ryan's plot was interesting as well as heartwarming. I enjoyed watching Elizabeth and Lucian's relationship move forward to more than mire friendship. They were both easy to relate to, for me, anyway. Watching these two characters work through their struggles, challenges, and trials was truly heartwarming and endearing. I ejoyed the concept of forgiveness, healing, trust, and the promise HEA.

This story was so much fun to read. A Touch of Scarlet is part of the Gulided Promises series. I have not read the first book, Journey's End, but didn't feel that it was necessary in order to enjoy this book. That being said Renee Ryan is an awesome author, and you can bet I'll be reading it soon. She kept me turning page after page dying to see what was going to happen next. I felt that I could relate to the struggles the characters were going through, and enjoyed visiting another period of time. This book follows Elizabeth and Luke as they figure out where life is taking them.

Elizabeth has always been known as the perfect lady, and she is quick to do whatever her family asks of her. She's been taught that since the day she was born. The problem with always doing what you're supposed to is that you lose yourself in the process of making everyone else happy. Elizabeth has come to a huge fork in her life, she either goes to London to find a husband with a title, or follows her heart. No matter what she chooses, she decides that she is going to enjoy herself and go on a few adventures. Will Luke be her ally or will he stand in her way?

Luke has known Elizabeth for what has seemed like forever. When he hears of her plan to press her boundaries, he worries about her reputation. Knowing the mistakes he made only makes him want to protect her from them even more. He knows that society is harder on women, and doesn't want to see her hurt. When he senses his feelings shifting from brotherly, to something else entirely he doesn't know what to do. He lives as if he is waiting for some thing bad to happen, and doesn't want to draw Elizabeth into the middle of anything. Surely she deserves someone better than him.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. I found the romance to be sweet and tastefully done. I could easily see the main characters coming to care for each other, no matter how much they fought it. I enjoyed seeing them work through their struggles and how they became stronger through them. I can't wait to see what is next from Renee Ryan. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book was absolutely fabulous! I loved it from start to finish. The characters were amazing and I had a hard time putting it down. Elizabeth seems to be a naïve, New York rich girl who has grown up in luxury but has lived through a family scandal recently (a previous book) in which her mother has been "banished" to Florida. Her grandfather and father think it best for her to marry an English "titled" man so she makes the decision that she will go to London in a couple months and do that so she can do something to bring honor to her family. Then, she goes to her best friend's engagement party - a lavish affair - and escapes to the outside gardens for a breath of fresh air. There she meet her friend's brother, Luke, who she's known for years and had a secret crush on! She decides she's going to live a life of adventure and wants to do it with Luke before she leaves for London! Luke, who is older, knows the regrets that come from doing such adventures and tries to talk her out of this scheme. However, when he sees that Elizabeth is going to do her "list" with or without him, he becomes embroiled in her adventures. He suddenly doesn't see Elizabeth as a "child" anymore, but as a woman and his affections become more serious but he has a troubled past and his family is beginning to fall apart. I LOVED Elizabeth's spirit and love for life! She lived so zestfully! Luke was weighed down with so much responsibility and past regrets but Elizabeth brings out the best in him and if he can let go of the past, perhaps they will have a future together.
I highly recommend this book! It's fantastic!
