3 stars for Cavanaugh in the Rough. I thought the story was okay.

I loved this story, I think it is my favorite Cavanaugh story so far.
The suspense was well built. The cases detective Christian Cavanaugh O'Bannon and CSI Susannah Quinn are investigating are terrifying, menacing, and have a serious creepy factor in them that might seep into your dreams. There's just that air of hopelessness and frightening threat with little clues and terrifying possibilities that gave the cases the eerie effect.
Christian and Susannah were lively, energetic, and enthusiastic characters. They both have the passion for justice and doing the right thing. The sizzle between them was rather entertaining, and attraction they felt for each other was intense.
The way they communicated was through constant banter and bickering that was just on the border of not tipping over to the side of being mean and hurtful. Especially Suzie Q danced on the edge of being a 'mean girl', her words holding her defenses and keeping her at safe distance, so her family's past wouldn't be revealed.
Intriguing murder cases to be investigated gets Chris and Suzie a chance to spend time together and get to know each other while catching a vile criminal. The action and suspense are fast-paced and captivating, the drizzle of clues to solve the case exciting. The alluring passion that awakens between Chris and Suzie takes them both by surprise, as they find to be equal partners both while investigating the murders and developing a relationship. A riveting and enticing story all around!

Another delve into the Cavanaugh family brings us the usual great Detective finding his match and more!
Detective Christian Cavanaugh O'Bannon doesn't know what to make of his most recent case. Especially when Crime Scene Investigator Susannah Quinn says she suspects they have a serial killer on their hands!
When Chris gets her to open up to why she suspects what she does, he starts to agree with her and they move forward in their investigation to find the answers, but along the way, Chris attempts to find out what Suzie is hiding. She's a loner, and she's secretive ... what could be in her past that makes her keep to herself like that? And as they grow closer, will she decide to open up and explain her past to him?

I love strong heroines and like humor in my romance books. This one has it all and it kept me entertained.

Susannah is going through some deep seeded issues that make her skeptical of everyone and everything. That includes Detective Christan who loves to push her buttons. Knowing shed liked to help out he asks her to help him on his case.
I really loved this book. I loved the characters and getting to know their back stories. I loved that Susannah is the type of women who once she has a gut feeling shes not one to back down. I found the playful banter between Christan and Susannah entertaining. Clearly Susannah wasn't interested but Christan it very much like Susannah in a way of not backing down.I loved seeing them work together and how they worked out the case. I loved that Christan was there to help ground her, I guess in a way to because shes so focused when it came to the case he was there to balance things out and make sure she taking care of herself as well. I loved the connection between the two. Overall this book was really good I enjoyed it, managed to finish this book faster then I wanted to but that's only because it was so good I couldn't put it down.

I absolutely love the Cavanaughs and their family business. This is just another
enthralling installment in Aurora's finest. I did not put this book down once I
started it until I completed it. It got me attention from the first page. Chris
Cavanaugh O'Bannon is a detective who found the dead body when he saw two
teenagers obviously in a stressful state. With the help of Susannah Quinn, a CSI
agent, who substitutes for his regular partner, they investigate the murder and
finds some very earth shattering information.
Suzy Q (Susannah) has a big secret but it helps her understands the evidence
and proves to be an excellent complement to Chris in solving this crime. As
usual, Ms. Ferrarella has written a police crime thriller and I thoroughly enjoyed
the repartee between Chris and Suzy Q. I have read every book in this series
and they can just keep on coming. I give this book a 5-Star, thumbs up review
and I am awaiting the next book in the series.
