Baby Talk and Wedding Bells is the latest in the Those Engaging Garretts series and doesn’t disappoint.

I stumbled on this series by accident when I picked up Two Doctors and a Baby to read and fell in love with the family then and there whilst that was book nine in the series . I immediately wanted to know about this family and was happy to see the latest book up for review.

After two books I was addicted to this family and loved the set up for this book and how things played out

This time around it Braden who we previously saw as happily married however fast forward to the opening of this book. The Braden we saw is in a totally different place. Now a widower after the death of his wife. Braden is now a committed single father who dots on his daughter Sage as much as he can.

His life is around her and the family but his meddling mother Ellen has other ideas and the book is born and where part of title comes into play . Baby Talk the local library program that Sage attends and happen to be run a very cute librarian that his meddling mother thinks would be perfect.

So with some unfortunate events and meddling we soon find ourselves in midst of the chaos. As Braden gets thrown in to the deep end that normal leaves to his mother . A However Baby talk soon becomes easier of the problems as he finds himself in the company of the attractive librarian who rather have nothing to do with him.

Cassie has only had one dream. A perfect family and has dreamed of wedding bells but there never been a Prince. Braden may be handsome and she adores Sage but can she trust him given her past.

Fate may have other ideas and I loved the story. Whilst I’m a sucker when children are involved. I kept turning the pages wanting to Cassie to drop her guard and let Branden worm his way in . He had his own baggage and they were both perfect for each other. She wasn’t flashy or demanding . She knew was simple and perfect for Braden given his priorities despite being high up in the family business.

Whilst it was combing babies and wedding bells, this isn’t the story you will expect if you judge by the title. It is not hard to fall for the single dad and the librarian in this story whose romance is sweet. Harlen’s story telling and the bonds with this series makes it endearing and swoony worthy. I can’t wait for the next instalment of this series. The Garretts do live up to their reputation.

After the death of his wife Braven is learning to be a single father, with the help of family, to care for his adopted daughter. It seems his meddling mother is trying to set him up with the single Librarian ahead of the baby talk program that his daughter attends.

I thought that this was a sweet book to read. I loved how well meaning Braden meddling mother was. I thought it was interesting seeing how the book turned out. I loved seeing that connection between Cassie and Braden. I loved seeing the sweetness between Cassie and Braydens daughter. If you are looking for a sweet romance book then this is for you I really enjoyed my time reading it.

Baby Talk & Wedding Bells was more realistic than I expected and hit home on two questions rarely seen tackled on romance novels: adoption and infertility, and a relationship/marriage for the sake of a family instead of romance and love.
Both Braden and Cassie were likable and relatable characters that I enjoyed getting to know. Cassie had had her heart broken by the loss of family and unsatisfying relationships. She was determined not to fall in love, even though Braden and his daughter, even his mother, were so tempting with the warmth and affection that had been missing in her life for so long.
Braden has had his own heartbreak and trouble with his marriage before his wife died. He will not fall in love, has no interest to get emotionally involved, yet he is looking for a wife as a companion and a mother for his daughter.
The feelings that both Braden and Cassie goes through are rather raw and deep. The process for them to find peace in their hearts and lives, and find the balance they are looking for, the joy and cheer they were able to share with each other, it all takes it time, effort, and compromises they had not expected to make.
During this process, Cassie goes on a date with another man, and Braden claims to want only a marriage of convenience without bringing Cassie up to the same page with him. Both things that I wasn't a fan of, and in general don't like in my romance novels.
Braden's rowdy family around them, and Cassie's family of heart at the library, are a great addition to the story and the secondary characters help to move the plot along and contribute to the story in a significant way. Not to mention little Saige, Branden's daughter, who stole every scene she was in with her cuteness overflowing.
A fascinating story about marriage, children, the journey one has to go through to get to the point to be ready to be in a committed relationship, and the fumble life and love sometimes is.
