I loved this book! Not something I say about many books. It was exciting with constant actions and twists. Also very well written. I like that there are glimpses to Sam's past. The main character (Sam) is very well developed. The premise is interesting and different. A collect student working for extra income as a political tracker witnesses a murder of a national politician. Soon, the FBI and other agencies are looking at him as a suspect. He is forced to go on the run. Then he sets out to solve the murder to exonerate himself. The action, twists and engaging characters kept me wanting to read more. It wss hard to put down.

Tracker is the first book in what appears to be the Sam Callahan series. This was a fast paced political drama filled with action and numerous suspenseful moments! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a past paced read - no long dragged out moments in this book!

The Tracker is an absolute thriller written by author Chad Zunker. Murder and politics makes this story of nonstop action a must read. Can't wait to read more about Sam Callahan. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for the advance copy.

A law school student who's moonlighting as a political tracker receives a mysterious text and witnesses a political candidate and a blonde entering a motel room and a murder and must go underground until he can uncover who is behind it in this well written Political thriller / Mystery. I really enjoyed this novel I thought the plotline was unique and the storyline switching from past to present was well done.

I was drawn to this book for several reasons: 1) It's a thriller, 2) the author is a Texas Longhorn (we have a whole family of them!), and 3) I wanted to support a new author from Texas. I did enjoy this book, but felt it could have been stronger in places. I did feel, though, that it got better as it went along. I have a hunch this author is just getting warmed up as a fiction writer and will be producing some great stuff down the road. I'll continue to watch for new titles.

Why, why, why didn't I get around to reading this superb book earlier? It's a rip roaring ride which takes your breath away (also takes all your free time and sleep time too). I kept thinking 'just one mob re chapter' only to be reading at 4am and not wanting to put it down. I will certainly be looking out for more books by this very talented author. Many thanks

4 Star

Fast paced suspense triller, with a touch of romance.

This is Zunker first book in a series featuring Sam Callahan, a law student and part-time tracker, a spy, following of presidential candidates for gossip and dirt. Which he finds in truck loads, making him a target.

Sam’s character is well developed, and the plot face paced, making this an ideal book. The challenge for Zunker will be following this up with the next book in the series, and adding some more depth to supporting characters.

there were some really interesting aspects to this novel and the plot drew me in. however within 60 pages the 1st person narrator talked about various foster homes, calling his mom, and spending time on the street. may be this apparently contradictory back story was explained later but sadly I don't have the patience to find out. I would have been satisfied with a simple back story but it seemed like in an attempt to flesh out his MC the author just threw all types of tropes at him to see what would stick. I may read this book when it's published but I DNF my netgalley copy

While this was an okay story, I feel like I was told actions more than shown. I didn't like the alternate chapters between past and present. I think most of the past chapters were unnecessary and took pace away from the countdown to the election.

3.5 stars

Action packed political thriller with an intelligent and unique lead character.

25 year old law student Sam Callahan has led an unconventional life. He grew up in the foster care system and dealt with his fair share of horrible people and situations. To make some extra money, Sam takes a job as a political tracker, for which his main responsibilities are to attend political candidates’ rallies etc., with the hopes of finding enough dirt to sway an election.

One night, Sam is sent a mysterious text luring him to a location where he witnesses a horrible event and catches a candidate in a rather sticky situation. What Sam doesn’t realize is that someone saw him at the scene of the crime. Sam’s life is put in danger and he is framed for murder. He either must find out who is trying to frame him or he will die.

The narrative switches back and forth between Sam’s childhood and current events. I liked seeing how his childhood experiences shaped him to survive his current situation.

The Tracker has an engaging premise. Some elements seem a little far-fetched, but overall this is an interesting new series, and I look forward to seeing what happens next

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Great read. Lots of action and twists and turns. Makes the political arena look very murky.

Chad Zunker has penned a masterful thriller. Written in first-person perspective, the action is fast-paced and non-stop while also managing to flesh out protagonist (Sam Callahan) through interspersed flashback chapters. I rooted for Sam all through the book and can't wait to read the next book in the series. Highly recommended!

Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for providing a complementary eARC of this novel.

Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I had experienced the full measure and ramifications of these words the past three days. And I'd lived to tell about it.

Sam Callahan has a job he was born to do. Track political candidates without being noticed and have the capability to be where they are at any given moment. With a close election between candidates, there is more pressure to get the real story. When a undisclosed text directs Sam to a motel and to be ready, he cannot pass up the opportunity. What he gets is more than he bargained for as he is now running for his life after witnessing a murder. Sam begins to question who he can trust and who was behind the murder. As more people are taken out, Sam becomes the #1 suspect as he now has to find out who is behind this political motivated set up.

The narration is fast paced as you come to know Sam Callahan and the special gifts he has to outrun trouble. Going back to his life as a foster kid, his mother's abandonment, and his life on the streets. How his life turned around meeting a pastor that saw something good in him and gave him the tools to succeed and run from the life that had nothing for him. I have to do a shout out for the author's theology because it was good! I loved the relationship between the pastor and Sam. The gospel compels me. Can't get to the heart without getting to know you first! and the lessons that he taught Sam It's not about being worthy. It's about being grateful. And letting that gratitude help you maximize the new opportunities you're getting. I am grateful

A compelling thriller with heart. Very rare but something I appreciate!

A Special Thank you to Thomas Mercer, Chad Zunker and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
