As always, Katie gives us a great story! I love Violet and getting a chance to really meet her and Chevy. This book was breath taking from start to finish.

This book. Holy crap this book.
I'm the first to admit that I don't always read things in order...and I didn't with this series. I read book 2 first, skipped 1 entirely and then read this book. I don't regret my decision, because the blurb for the first book didn't pull me in, making me want to read it. It was only as I got to know Oz and Emily in the second book, and learned more about their relationship that I NOW want to read their book.
I'll admit, when I realized that this book was about Violet, I wasn't thrilled. I didn't care for her in Walk the Edge. So I was a little disappointed when I realized who she was. But being in her head, and reading her first POV really helped.
There were some great things that happened early on (and by great, I mean things that kick-started the story)...but then toward the middle, things seemed to slow down and stall...leaving me feeling like nothing was happening and my attention started to wander.
But then...this book! Things kicked into high gear, and things started happening and there were twists and turns and I just couldn't put the book down.
This was definitely a great addition to the series. I can't wait to see who the next book is going to be about!

Violet grew up at the Reign of Terror clubhouse alongside the other children of the club members. Her father taught her to be a strong women and to never settle. When her father is killed in an accident her world comes tumbling down. The men she grew up knowing as family suddenly become suffocating and the boy she loves refuses to put her before the club. Deciding that distance is the best option, Violet breaks up with her longtime boyfriend Chevy and tries to cut all ties with the Reign of Terror. But months later a rival gang seeks her out and makes threats she can’t ignore. What is she willing to give up to keep her family safe? Who can she really trust?
I struggled with Violet at first because I felt like she was so inconsistent and at first she came across as such a brat. Now to be fair, I kind of felt that way about her from the previous books, but luckily as the story progressed I really grew to love and understand her. She is very stubborn and there are certain things that she wants that she isn’t willing to give up. Her determination is very admirable and she eventually won me over.
Just thinking about Chevy makes me slightly giddy. He is so sexy and he is such a great guy. His whole life he has always tried to please everyone and let’s be real, that just isn’t reality. But he had such a hard time disappointing people he cared about. It was heartbreaking to watch him struggle but it was also inspiring. I felt like he grew so much throughout the story and I fell madly in love with him.
Long Way Home is a beautiful, emotional, heartbreaking romance that I really enjoyed. I was surprised by how intense this one was compared to the previous books in the series, but I felt it was the perfect addition to the story. The pacing was spot on and the plotline was very intriguing. I loved how sexy and dramatic the romance was and I was in heaven that my favorite characters from the Pushing the Limits series made a small appearance. McGarry has such captivating writing. Her stories are so easy to get lost in, but I also love how inspiring they are. I can’t wait to see whose story will be next! I thought this was a wonderful read and if you like sexy romance stories with lots of drama and suspense you have to pick up this series ASAP!

I absolutely love the Thunder Road series by Katie McGarry. I have been hoping for Chevy and Violet's story ever since I first met them in Nowhere But Here. The two have so much history together and even through their anger and frustration, we could see that deeper feelings lingered there. I was so excited to jump in to their story and I loved seeing the two work to figure out how to overcome all that history and fear. There is a lot of fear surrounding Violet and I loved that Chevy was such a rock for her. Both are incredibly pragmatic when it comes to their relationship and the way it was handled just worked so well. I really liked how much of the book was spent of them being together and not fighting like in previous books. The two come together and are each other's support after a pretty traumatic events occurs and revelations are thrown at them from every angle. Everything they thought they knew about their families, the Terror, and themselves will be questioned in this book, so it was a breath of fresh air to see them tackle it together.
Overall, I could not be more pleased with how their story concluded—it was such a fitting end for them and this was one of those books I instantly wanted to reread after it was over.

I will do my best to review this amazing story without giving anything away.
I was hesitant to start this series last year because books about boys on motorcycles did not really appeal to me. Then I gave the first book a chance and I was absolutely blown away. Not only does Katie McGarry know how to write a contemp story, she knows how to pull the reader in and never let them go. In the first book, nearly all of the characters are introduced - but the story focuses on Oz and Emily. Oh Oz. Mercy he was a steamy character. The second book centered around Razor and Brianna. Have mercy on my soul, Razor. Talk about the bad boy of every girl's dreams. Yowza. And the newest book focuses on Chevy and Violet. What girl hasn't wanted to take Chevy into her arms and try to take away his pain? I know I have. It is no secret that Chevy and Violet have know each other since birth. They grew up together and fit together like peanut butter and jelly. These two are simply made for each other but things in Violet's past make her want to leave the only life she has ever know. Not only does she want to flee to find a better life for herself, she wants to protect her brother, Stone. No matter how hard Violet tries, she is always pulled back to Chevy. Chevy has never stop caring about Violet and he never will. He will protect her and her brother until his very last breath.
In this story, Chevy and Violet find themselves being kidnapped by The Riot, the rival motorcycle club, and things do not go well. Both Chevy and Violet are injured pretty badly. Only, it seems Violet was the one they were after. The leader of The Riot talks to Violet and tells her of their plan that only she can help them with. If she follows through, it means she and her brother will be able to leave Snowflake and never look back. But can she do it? Can she give The Riot what they want to bring down The Reign of Terror? She finds herself running to Chevy for safety and comfort. Can she make the right decision? Can she let Chevy back into her life? Can she finally accept that the life she has now really isn't terrible?
I loved these characters. Everyone makes an appearance in this story and that made my heart happy. McGarry does a fantastic job of keeping all characters involved and even introducing new ones. The tension between Chevy and Violet is just as delicious as you would think it would be given the previous two stories in this series. Both characters are wonderfully complex yet intoxicating. I found I could not stop reading because I had to know what would happen to the both of them. This book ended much sooner than I wanted it to. It made me even more curious to know what happens next, if there even is a next book. I sure hope so!
I promised I would not give anything away and I'm sticking to that. Bottom line - AMAZING. BEAUTIFUL. HEART WARMING. SIZZLING. So many wonderful things happened in this book. Characters developed, bonds deepened, truths came out, hearts were healed. But please, pick up this book today so you can read Chevy & Violet's story for yourself. Then come back and talk to me so we can fangirl together.

When I read book two of this series (Walk The Edge), I knew that I was for the long haul. The Thunder Road series is just fascinating. Not because of the MC’s background, but mostly about the main characters and how each one has so many things to say. It's YA, barely teenagers who has so much to live and thrown into that life, and how they lived it.
Chevy and Violet were high school sweethearts. Best friends and lovers, until one moment in their lives changed everything. The pressure and the rules being MC legacy and the war that seemed to explode at any moment torn them apart.
Violet was always the little rebel, fierce and feisty. Fighting for the ones she loved fiercely. She didn't choose this life but trying to survive. When her world shattered into pieces, the only thing she knew that to protect herself and her family. To stay away from all the crap of her father’s friends and life. Completely denying it.
Chevy was put into the middle, the pressure of his legacy and the struggle to be a seventeen year old boy. But these two had seen so much that they kind of matured quickly and made them tough and rough, far away from all the teenagers preoccupations they should have. He was such a sweet but tough boy, in love for almost all his life with Violet, but hopeless to bring her back to him, where she belongs.
But now, love seemed not enough and instead of reunited them, it torn them apart. From lovers to strangers. They were at two different moments of their lives, lost and trying to fight against all the threats. What I liked the most? The POV, raw, deep and utterly heartbreaking. We could sense how hard it was to be separated. They didn't know how to find their way back home, to let each other in their hearts again.
Between this whirlwind romance, the war was coming and no one was prepared for what was coming, with some revelations that would once again change everything. They had a lot of hardships to overcome, and in a way finding themselves back.
Some scenes were hard to stand because the author managed perfectly how to bring the fear and despair, or moments of incredible doubts, but I think it was worth it. Like they were more acting than living, not being themselves because they couldn't reveal to the world what they wanted, afraid to be a disappointment or leaving people behind.
Darker than the other books, Chevy and Violet's story took my breath away.
The author wrote their journey with such passion with a little hint of sweetness. Each moment was charged emotionally. I experienced Chevy and Violet’s story with such intensity.
Can't wait to read more about this series!

I am a true Katie McGarry fan. I love her writing and her characters. And her stories always, always pull at my heart strings and draw me right in. So this story was no exception. Except maybe it was. Because while I have loved the other books in this series, this is the one that truly hit home with me. There's always that one book in series that you get, and that gets to you. The one where the characters are just the right fit. I had this with McGarry's Pushing the Limits series when I read Take Me On. It was a book I could not put down and one that still haunts me, in a good way. Long Way Home has had this same effect on me. I will never let go of the characters because my connection with them made more sense than any book I've read in the last six months. This connection is hard to explain but it's definitely the reason I loved the book as much as I did.
I think my favorite thing about this book, besides the story line and how well it unfolds, is the fact that Violet and Chevy have a past. This past plays such a crucial role in who they are to each other. So much history between them causes so many more emotional ties. And their connection is like a taught wire ready to pop throughout the whole book.
One of the most intriguing things about McGarry's writing is her grittiness. There's this shear power her writing has to lay it all out on the line. It's raw and completely naked. She makes you feel every emotion her characters feel. And she paces the book so you are never bored. You're never wondering if you'll be left hanging or needing more. McGarry gives it to you every step of the way.
I will say Violet is my favorite female character McGarry has written to date. She's fiercely independent, or at least wants to be. She wants to be heard. I love this theme, it's empowering for girls to see such a figure in a book. A great role model for teens.
Overall, I think this will remain my favorite book in this series. I am not sure McGarry could top it for me. But I've been wrong about her before. Go read it. She does not disappoint.
Thank you Harlequin Teen for providing me a copy of this book to read and review.

I think I have been waiting for Violet’s story since she was first introduced several books ago. She was just such a spit-fire and I wanted to be in her head and see what made her tick and boy was I not disappointed. The third book in the Thunder Road series was filled with drama, tension, plot-twists I NEVER saw coming, and romance. I really loved how this book brought everything full circle, the gang was together and made a pact to stick together. Their friendship, resilience, and determination is inspiring.
I adore Chevy, he is sweet, sexy, and selfless. Seriously, this boy would take a bullet for Violet, there relationship is so swoon-worthy. They push each other to be better and it absolutely turns me into a pile of mushy goo. I was just in love with them being in love. Then let me talk about these plot twists because I paused while reading and literally stared at my Kindle…95% into the book…and said, “I never saw that coming.” I was truly in shock, even as my brain was trying to work out the ending, I never would have called it correctly. It was the perfect twist to this story.
I love that Violet is becoming friends with Addison because I have wanted to know more about her since she first crossed my path in Walk The Edge. So fingers are crossed for that the next book is hers! It just a good read, to put it simply. It ends with me satisfied but the atmosphere always leaves me wanting more.

I've been reading Katie McGarry's books since her debut year of 2012. Every year, one book, but I never get tired of her love stories. Long Way Home - a.k.a Violet and Chevy's book was something that I've been waiting to read ever since I saw the undeniable chemistry between them in Nowhere But Here, and Katie McGarry, as always, didn't disappoint me with this long awaited story.
Violet and Chevy might have broken up, but the feelings hasn't died down. With Chevy's loyalty to the Terror, and Violet's reluctance to have to do anything with the club is keeping them apart even when they both obviously love each other. Things get more complicated when the rival gang Riot gets involved, when the root of Chevy's beliefs and loyalty is shaken up, and Violet's complex relationship with the club is put through the ultimate test, and Long Way Home is the story of how Violet and Chevy stay strong throughout it all, together.
I absolutely adored Long Way Home. Like I said before, I've been waiting for Violet and Chevy's book for a long time, as I've been shipping these two since the first book, and their romance was as good as I wanted it to be! Though they can't obviously beat my favourite sweethearts, Razor and Breanna, Violet and Chevy obviously have a special spot in my heart. Their chemistry was scorching, their divided sentiments regarding the Terror creating the ambiguity in their relationship and the way both of them were the rock to each other at all times was truly beautiful.
I've always liked the relationships and dynamics of this series, and it was the best in this book. My favourite is probably the tricky yet beautiful relationship between Eli and Violet. I also loved the appearance of all my fav characters, especially Razor!!! Speaking of, he almost made me cry in this one. I badly want a Breanna and Razor novella now!!!
Overall, Long Way Home was so good! All Thunder Road fans, go make sure you read this asap! And if you haven't read the series, what are you even doing??? Go check out the series, because this is hands down one of the best YA romance series ever, period! Here's to waiting to my next autobuy Katie McGarry book! :D

I cannot tell you guys how excited I was when I got the email that I was picked for this tour and received a review copy for it! I’ve been dying to read this since I finished Walk the Edge last March. And if you’ve been around here at all, you know I’m a huge Katie McGarry fan, so I was extremely excited to have this book in my hands and started it as soon as the download was complete!
And I’m not sorry I did at all! I love these books and this one was no different. The book is full of drama and chemistry and friendships and trust and love and danger. If you’ve read the first two books in this series, you know all about the motorcycle club that’s at the center of these books and the group of four friends we follow from beginning to end. Since that very first book, Nowhere But Here, I’ve been dying for Chevy and Violet’s story. I really thought it would be the second book but after finishing this one, it was clear that this one had to be the third. I won’t give specific reasons but a lot of what happens in two comes up in this on and the flow of all three books come together and everything makes a lot of sense.
As always, my favorite part of these books are the characters. I loved Violet in this book. We always knew she was strong and set in her ways and not afraid to stand up to the guys but we see that up close in this one. She knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to say it. In her relationship with Chevy, she tells him exactly what she wants and why it will or won’t work out. She doesn’t wait for him to say what he wants or for him to make the first moves and it’s always refreshing to see that. Sometimes the female characters in these books wait for the guy to save them from whatever it is they’re scared of but not Violet. She leans on Chevy and her friends when she needs to, definitely, but for the most part she’s a strong and independant female character who wants to protect the people she loves and demands to be treated equally and with respect and I loved that. Especially within the motorcycle club when the men dominate the community and think that by taking care of the women they love, they are treating them with respect. And that’s true, of course, but Violet demands more and I love that about her.
Chevy was a good character, too, though not my favorite of the male leads. I did like his character arc and the growth we see him go through this book. I don’t want to give anything about his story away because we learn a lot about him and his past and some secrets that he didn’t even know but about halfway through I loved the realization he makes about himself and how he decides to go about changing it. That and his devotion to Violet and really trying to understand her and be there for her are my favorite things about him.
And of course I loved seeing more of Oz and Razor together with these two. The four of them grew up together and I really loved that they came together so much in this book. Friendships are one of my favorite things to read about in books and this was no exception. These four understand each other and support and protect each other in a way I don’t see often enough in books.
As far as the story goes, I really don’t want to spoil anything about it for you guys. I read this book so quickly and I loved it all and I really hope you guys can have that same experience. The stories from the past two books come full circle, so if you were wondering about just picking this one up, it would definitely be better for you to start at the beginning. We learn more about The Riot and The Reign of Terror and their relationships from the past. And we get a lot of answers to things that were sort of passed over in previous books. Plus, GUYS, we get some really great cameos.
If you’ve been waiting for this book like I have, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all. The book starts with a big scene and doesn’t stop till the end. Stories are brought together and wrapped up and we learn even more about the characters we’ve grown to love. Goodreads lists a fourth book in this series and I have no idea if that’s true or not. I’d definitely be happy with more of these characters but this could also be the end and I’d be happy with how everything was wrapped up. I really hope you guys will enjoy it too!

As a fan of Katie McGarry, I look forward to each and every new release. And, not that I expected any different, this third and final book in the Thunder Road series did not disappoint.
Chevy and Violet grew up side by side, children of the Reign of Terror motorcycle club. Since the death of her father Violet has distanced herself from the Terror, including Chevy, the boy she has always loved. She considers the Terror’s continued involvement in her life as an unwanted intrusion and all she wants is to go to college and flee the small town and the reach of the Terror. When rival club, the Riot, becomes a threat to Violet, her mother and brother her only concern is keeping them safe. But is she willing to betray those she once considered family to make that happen?
The only life Chevy has ever know is life with the Terror. His mother has tried to counter their influence but Chevy has long straddled the line between her and the club that has always been family. With longtime love Violet cutting him and the Terror from her life, his uncertain future after high school, and the still unanswered questions about the father he never knew, Chevy feels the mounting pressure to choose sides.
Long Way Home started with a bang and kept me thoroughly invested until the very end – filled with tension, drama, romance and a twist I never saw coming. Chevy and Violet both found themselves in such impossible positions – faced with decisions that pitted one loyalty against another. How far would you go to protect someone you love? Would you betray one person if it meant saving another? Themes of what makes a family and what it means to be family were showcased so perfectly, along with loyalty, trust, forgiveness and forging your own path, even when that goes against expectations.
I truly loved Violet and Chevy’s story. Violet is a strong young woman who was never afraid to speak her mind or do what she felt needed to be done. She was devoted to her brother and longed to see him become independent – the same thing she wished for her other, despite their differences. Chevy, like so many of McGarry’s male protagonists, is fiercely loyal and fiercely protective – qualities that never fail to draw me in. As a young man living under the weight of others’ expectations, he has never allowed himself the freedom to decide what he truly wants from his life. The growth in these characters was so well done, so realistic, and made for a richer reading experience.
Fans already familiar with the Thunder Road world will be thrilled to finally see Chevy and Violet’s story told (as well as the appearance of a couple familiar faces from the Pushing the Limits series!). New readers will be instantly hooked and will no doubt be excited to backtrack and read the previous novels. Long Way Home is not to be missed and, while I’m sad to see this series end, I can’t wait to see what McGarry gives us next!

First off, I was so thrilled to get an ARC of this book. I dove right in and once again fell in love with another book by Katie. She never disappoints and you totally need to read all her books!!
Anywho...this is Chevy and Violets story. These two were lovely to read about and now I got to see why they are the way they are in other books.
Violet is strong, beautiful, smart and really cares for Chevy. Even though she leaves him, they find a way back to each other. After all, Violet has loved Chevy all her life. But once her dad died, things changed for her. She couldn't stand the Reign of Terror, and now has to be the one doing all the saving. So she had to cut all ties and focus on taking care of herself and her brother.
But getting away from these boys aint easy....they are always around. They won't go away and her dad was a big part of the club so they will be there. Its their version of a family. The Reign of Terror really aren't that bad as people think.
Then you have Chevy, who has the looks, is smart, and a decent football player. So he's doing the typical teenage life. Being late to class, not having a note, playing sports, and missing Violet. One thing he doesn't want to think about is the club. Its around that time where he needs to decide about joining and his place in the club.
They both have their things to sort out, but seeing them together is amazing. Watching how they came to be and loving these characters all over again. It was emotional and perfect. I can't wait for Katie's next book!

I’ve said this a million times before and I will keep saying it: Katie McGarry is one of my auto-buy authors. I began her Thunder Road series last spring. While I liked Nowhere But Here, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did the books in her Pushing the Limits series. However, the sequel, Walk the Edge, blew me away and is now tied as one of my favorite of Katie McGarry books (review here).
I had high expectations for Long Way Home since Chevy and Violet were introduced in the previous Thunder Road novels. I was beyond excited to be able to read their story in Long Way Home. However, I believe this led to me having too high expectations. I did end up enjoying Long Way Home, but again like Nowhere But Here, it fell short from her other books.
Long Way Home went in a completely different direction than I was expecting when I went into it. Early on in the story Violet and Chevy are kidnapped by the rival motorcycle club, which leads to their slow reconciliation while they deal with the aftermath from this traumatic experience. Due to this, the book is heavy on the motorcycle club information. Violet is being blackmailed into taking down one of the club’s key members whereas Chevy is trying to figure out who is Dad really was in order to help decide his path and whether he wants to join the club or not.
I really enjoyed Violet and Chevy’s development of their relationship. They didn’t completely rush back into things and pretend everything was going to be okay. They both realized that the problems they were facing when they broke up were still going to be around and that they needed to figure out who they wanted to be as theirselves before resuming their relationship. Also, I loved how strong of a character Violet is and really appreciated her fight to be viewed as an equal.
Overall, I will continue to read Katie McGarry’s future novels. Even though I was disappointed by Violet and Chevy’s story, Long Way Home was still a good read and others will surely love it. I look forward to her next book, which takes place outside of the Thunder Road series.
My Rating: 3.5 stars

Yes, I am here to sing praises for another fantastic book by Katie McGarry. Sharing my love for her books is like having my favorite song on repeat. I can't ever get enough if it. LONG WAY HOME is Chevy and Violet's story and oh have I been waiting to know more about this girl. I loved Violet for her fiery personality in the previous Thunder Road series books and couldn't wait to read more about her. And Chevy.
What I liked:
*The story went in a direction that I never imagined, but one that is prefectly fitting for the environment
*Really understanding and relating to Violet. Violet knows who she is and what she wants and the sacrifices she makes to stay true to herself in the this male dominated environment are admirable.
*Violet's relationship with her brother and how she tries to encourage him to become self-sufficient
*Sweet Chevy
*The crossover/connection of characters from this series and the Pushing the Limits series
I love how the intimacy and the tenderness and the delicate ways they show their affection for each other are written. Readers get just enough to understand the connection. It gives me goosebumps.
"I extend my arm, hand up, and she laces her fingers with mine. Our thighs are locked tight and I lower our hands so that they rest on both my leg and hers. Peace. This is the closest I've felt to peace in months."
What I'm most drawn to in the Thunder Road series and especially in LONG WAY HOME is the idea of family. Blood relations don't have to make you family, your friends are you family too.
"Families and friends don't abandon you if you decide you aren't exactly like them. They love you regardless of the path you choose."
Memorable Quotes:
"Loving him was easy, It's life that's hard." - Violet does love Chevy easily. Without even saying it, it is evident in everything she does. It's there in the way she trusts him, and it's there when she had to let him go.
"I'm secure in who I am and other people's definitions don't define me." - this is said by Chevy's mom. And this could have just as easily been said by Violet.
I enthusiastically recommend LONG WAY HOME to readers - both teens and adults, because of the storytelling, the heart, and the characters.
I'm sad this is the end of the series, but I know that rereading it will be just as delicious as reading it for the first time.

This is the third book in the Thunder Road series and as its predecessors it did not disappoint, with each installment in the series we get a closer look at the family aspect more so than the Motorcycle Club, because it all seems to revolve around them, the sins of their past sort of speak.
In Long Way Home we get to read about Chevy and Violet who we’ve known for the entire series and I was so glad we finally got their book because they were a bit of a question mark in the last two, I mean we knew they weren’t together but we didn’t know everything that happened between them in the past and just how really really close they were, and how much they meant to one another.
I do have to say this is a more action packed book or at least that’s what it seemed to me because from the get go we are in the center of this war between Clubs and families, I mean there are so so many secrets! In each book we find out more and more and I love how Katie had everything just perfectly mapped out in her head and how she has allowed us to be a part of this story and how she has given answers to some questions and then coming up with more questions for us to try and figure out.
The relationship between Chevy and Violet was just beautiful, so full of love but also a lot of angst, like a lot, a lot and honestly I don’t blame them, those kids have some pretty heavy burdens on their shoulders.
The book progresses are a perfect speed, we get action, mystery and romance in equal amounts and that makes the book much more enjoyable.
I have no idea if Katie plans on continuing with this series and I hope she does, because I have my eye on a couple of characters that I would love to know more about.

In this final installment of the Thunder Road series from Katie McGarry, tensions are running high. Violet's ex-boyfriend Chevy is still involved with the Reign of Terror MC, and she's still attracted him. I don't blame her! Chevy is totally swoon-worthy, and his emotional pain from losing Violet is written all over him.
When Violet's car breaks down one night, Violet and Chevy are thrown into a terrible and dark situation with a rival MC. In the process, they uncover secrets that rock their world and everything they believed about people they loved. As Violet and Chevy try to find the truth, they both uncover truths about themselves that may keep them apart or help them find a way to be together.
I loved this couple. Violet is strong-minded and strong-willed. She's not willing to give up her personal rights for anyone, even Chevy. I loved that about her, although it was clear that it also tore Chevy up. And Chevy knows one thing -- he loves Violet. He's got a heart of gold and the depths of his feelings are written so beautifully, I felt that love on the pages.
There's a lot of family drama going on here, mostly centered around the influence the Reign of Terror has on their lives and decisions. Katie McGarry peels back the layers of what it means to be family in much the same way families do -- sometimes delicately, sometimes brutally.
With a wonderful tie-in to the Pushing the Limits series, Chevy uncovers his truth and I loved how these two series connected. I was definitely a bit happy and teary-eyed at the same time. Violet's transformation was equally satisfying as she resolves who she can trust and what's important to her.
This is not a simple YA love story. There's a depth to Long Way Home that made me fall in love with these characters and want to know how they would find their way. I'm a little sad the series is over, but I'm looking forward to what is next from this author.

Where to even start? I loved this book beyond words, but I will try to explain how much I loved this book. Long Way Home could be my favorite book in Thunder Road. It could even be my favorite book by Katie McGarry, and that’s saying a lot. I had huge expectations of this book, because I know McGarry writes amazing books, and I know I love her books, so high expectations that they’re practically impossible to live up to. Long Way Home didn’t live up to my expectations. It beat them.
I LOVE Violet.
I always liked Violet, from the first time we met her in Nowhere but Here. But I started loving her in this book. I loved following her thoughts. Violet is a great character. She’s independent and relatable, but she isn’t perfect. She makes mistakes, has trust issues, and she blames the Terror for her father’s death. She can be downright mean to Eli. But that is great, because what person is perfect? Her flaws only make her realistic and more relatable. What’s great is that Violet grows a lot through the book. I don’t want to say too much and spoil anything, but let’s just say her life changes, and so does she. Violet is the perfect (imperfect) heroine.
How about Chevy?
Here’s the thing: I’ve always loved Chevy. Like, really loved him. Since the moment I met him in Nowhere but Here, I’ve loved him. And this didn’t change in Long Way Home. If possible, I fell even more in love with him. Chevy is the perfect swoon-worthy male: he’s sweet and protective and caring and just generally swoon-worthy.
I’ve always shipped Chevy and Violet, but in this book, I was seriously considering stopping just so I could have him for myself.
The plot was amazing!
It started out very fast, with a lot of things happening right at the beginning. Often, I write that the ending of a book is heartbreaking, but in this case, the beginning was. I cried and yelled and then cried some more, because it hurt that Chevy and Violet had to go through that. That being said, it kicked the book off in a great way, and it only got better from there. Sure, it still hurt to see Chevy and Violet struggle with what had happened, but it only made it more impossible to put it away. This whole book, and not just the ending, was the perfect ending to the series, but especially the ending. It felt right that this was the end, even if I’m sad that there won’t be any more books. I can’t say anything else about it without spoiling it, so you’ll just have to read the book.
The end.
This is the end, you guys. The end. I’m not sure how to cope with that. This series is one of my favorite Contemporary series, it has had me crying and laughing and swooning and crying some more. I am so sad it’s over. If you excuse me, I’m going to go cry some more because it’s over.
Long Way Home was the perfect blend between swoon-worthy romance, jealousy-inducing friendship and heart-stopping suspense. It kept me up all night, crying, laughing, fangirling, and then crying some more. So, in case you didn’t get it from my review, you MUST read this book!

I honestly cannot get enough from this series. I absolutely love the romance and danger that each installment brings. Unfortunately, I believe this is the last book in the series. At least I haven't heard otherwise. Hopefully I am wrong and there are many more books to come, I just don't know from whose point of view they will be from, because we've covered all the kids, or rather all the newly adults.
Now, where to start with this review? This installment was much different from the first two, because in those ones we had a guy who was in the Terror and a girl who was on the outside. Emily never even heard of the Terror or Riot, but unknowingly was MC royalty, and Breanna only knew the clubs by their terrible reputations. This story was so different, because both characters are on the inside of the club and have grown up with it their entire lives. It was just a battle of one wanting to be involved in the club and the other wanting nothing to do with it.
Both of them being on the inside gave this book a very big element of danger. I mean I believe it's only chapter three when all hell breaks loose. There was always some kind of big danger in the other two stories, but this time it was much worse, in my opinion, and felt so very much real. All of the books in this series have crazy twists and turns and you never really know what is going to happen next, but this time it was even more intensified. I absolutely loved how thrilling this book was. Everyone is dealing with their own issues and own dangers, but yet they are all slightly tied together. It was just so neat to see how each character dealt with it and came together thanks to the amazing alternating POV's.
I still think the first book, Oz and Emily, is my favorite romance out of the series, but I definitely believe that this one is my favorite for the action and danger. I cannot believe what these young adults get into and what they are able to not only face, but overcome. It is seriously amazing. At that age I was worried about getting into college and here these kids are worrying about not only their own lives, but the lives of their loved ones. Absolutely nuts!
I don't think there is much more I can say without ruining the elements of surprise for you, but just know that this one is packed full of action. I love how strong and stubborn Violet is and it was so great to see not only her, but also Chevy, find themselves. There is a lot of self discovery in this book as well.
Overall:
Holy crap! I think that is the best way to sum up the action and danger in this book. In each book of this series there is an element of not only romance, but danger. Long Way Home has plenty of romance, but it is just completely action packed. More than either of the first two books. That was my favorite part about this book, because I loved how real it felt. It seriously had me hooked once I got to chapter three. We learn a lot more about not only the Terror, but also the characters we've come across so far in this series. It really was not only an exciting book, but also one filled with self discovery. Chevy and Violet are trying to figure out who they are and what the role of the club should be in their lives. One is adamant about having being a part of the club and one is adamant about wanting nothing to do with it. Will their wishes change once they go through the scariest time of their lives? Read it and find out!
