Based on a brief sample provided - interesting setup and premise involving a missing child and the hidden lies within a family. Writing flowed and characters were beginning to take their places - too short a sample to comment on overall quality though unfortunately.

The only reason I gave this sampler a four instead of a five is because I was pretty confused about the timeline at first. I wasn't able to follow the time jumps as smoothly as I'd have liked. But other than that it was a great intro and I need to know what happened to Chloe! I can't wait to read the rest and give it a full review/rating.

Jess and Emily are sisters. Emily has a stepdaughter, Chloe, whom Jess loves to bits and a daughter, Daisy, that whom Jess is live-in nanny. We know that Jess is an unreliable narrator. Prone to having too much to drink, she also suffers from occasional blackouts. We also know that something happened in the sister's past which caused Emily to be uncertain with Jess, but in this sampler we do not learn what occurred.

But when Daisy goes missing on New Year's Eve, all suspicions will turn to Jess. Is Jess at fault or is Daisy's kidnapper elsewhere in this family unit?

This sample consists of the prologue and the first three chapters of Little Sister. My feeling upon beginning to read was one of unease. In the prologue, the narrator, who the reader later discovers is Jess, is addressing a child. It is clear that she thinks highly of the child, but as a babysitter, it seemed to me that Jess' connection with the child was unnaturally close. The sense of unease made me want to continue reading and find out more about Jess and the child and their relationship to each other.
The chapters in Little Sister appear to be written from alternating viewpoints. In this sample, we read the viewpoints of Jess and her sister, Emily. The use of this technique suggests that neither narrator will be 100% reliable, and I am intrigued to find out more about these characters and the reasons they would have to lie. The chapter written from Emily's viewpoint reveals that Jess and Emily have only recently regained contact with each other. This left me with several unanswered questions and I am keen to keep reading to discover more about the dynamics of their relationship.
The sample ends at the start of a police investigation, so it is clear that there will be an element of "whodunnit" to Little Sister. I look forward to the twists and turns that this will bring.

The cover of this book really works for me and is exactly the sort of book that I would grab instantly off the shelf. The juxtaposition of dark, moody imagery, yellow type and brash beach imagery convey the tone perfectly – a thriller bubbling with unease, betrayal and tumultuous family relationships.

Having selected 'Little Sister' based on the cover image, I knew from the moment I read the description that I would enjoy this title, and the sampler chapters did not disappoint. This novel is not a slow-burner, and the first twist comes only a couple of paragraphs in. This book is anything but predictable. It's often hard to convey confusion in a book without confusing the reader, but this novel strikes the perfect balance, somehow managing to employ an 'unreliable narrator' without losing the coherence of the novel's plot.

I will most definitely be seeking out the answers to the questions raised by this sampler by reading the rest of the novel as soon as it becomes available!

I received the first three chapters of this novel to sample and I'm already hooked and patiently waiting for the publication date so I can read the whole thing. The first three chapters had enough to draw me in and I'm betting the rest of the book is just as good.

I wish I could have read the whole book, but I am definitely intrigued by this sampler and look forward to the full story!

When I received this from Netgalley I did not realise that I would be getting just a sampler of the book. As a result I find that I can't really rate or review it properly. I quite enjoyed what I read & felt it was a promising start, but I've read many like that which didn't live up to expectations.

Will create an epic review once I've read the whole book.

This is a gripping 3 chapter sampler that everyone will be talking about. After Emily and jessica has been reunited after 16 years. Jessica moves into her sisters home to look after baby Daisy. One night Daisy goes missing whilst jessica is looking after her. But jessica blacked out and cant remember what happened. This book has lots of secrets and twists and turns. But sorry to say sampler was took short I dont usually not finish a book and dying to know what happened. Cant wait until the book is released.

I just read this sample in around 15 minutes flat, it was so gripping and left on such a frustrating cliffhanger (I wish there was more to this extract!) I am definitely going to be purchasing it and reading on, I feel like it will be a very enjoyable read!

I have never read a sample and have always actively avoided reading samples purely because I knew it would drive me nuts not to be able to read the whole book... Needless to say I am climbing the walls right now; utterly desperate to get my grubby mitts on the full story! How have I never discovered this author?! An utterly intriguing tease of a sample!
