Unfortunately I didn't get chance to read this book as there was an issue with the system that wouldn't allow me to download this. However, I've heard great things and will be buying the book soon!

Whilst I am not usually fond of short stories, I did enjoy 'The Things that Matter Most'. I am not going to say what the story is about for fear of spoiling for others, but I will say that it is a murder mystery and quite a page turner. Recommended.
Received an electronic copy in exchange for an honest review.
My review can be seen on Goodreads and Amazon.

Well I got through the book and it was okay but I found it unrealistic, I didn't like the main character Ethan either and found him annoying!....he kinda just jumps in on a police investigation and that just can't happen in real life lol, plus he did a better job than his best mate and he was the policeman and so I thought it was a bit nuts, .the plot was okay but slow in places and the ending fits the book, just a bit too slow for me...sorry!

This was just okay for me I knew right away who the killer was within the first 15 pages I did enjoy the banter between Maddy and Ethan.
Really fast read (Novella) if you have 2 hours.
My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is an introduction to a series about a paramedic, Ethan,. In this novella, he and his new girlfriend, Maddy, help the police with 2 serial killers that are stalking their city. It did seem a little bit strange that the police would allow 2 civilians to help with their cases, but it made for an interesting storyline. The characters were also very interesting, and well-developed. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

This book was interesting, but firmly set in Canada. The speech patterns, stores, geography, all of it made it hard for me to lose myself in the story. And it wasn't about being set in Canada, so I imagine a book set in Nebraska would be just as weird for someone else.
