Before now, I'd only read one novel by Jae. It was a historical romance called Shaken to the Core and I remember feeling that it was good, but nothing hugely memorable.

Something in the Wine is a contemporary, almost a classic in lesbian fiction, I'd heard. On that basis, and since I hadn't hated reading her before, I picked this one up.

And I'm really glad that I did! Although I feel that there were some problems with pacing in the middle, that the character of Annie spent far too much angst on whether she might actually be attracted to another woman, I really loved the friendship that bloomed between her and Drew throughout.

The foil, of course, for the whole story was a prank being played on Annie's brother Jake, after he set the two of them up as a joke. It managed to hold the story together incredibly well except, as I said, in that patch during the middle where I was ready for things to progress to the next part of the story where Annie began to embrace that she might actually like another woman for the first time in her life.

This revised edition of Something in the Wine is essentially the same as the first edition, with some minor tweaks. I'm not going to bother re-reviewing it, my original review stands.

The only real difference is that this also includes the follow up short story 'Seduction for Beginners', which pretty much just consists of the sex scenes that a lot of reviewers seemed to think the first edition of Something in the Wine should have included. I wasn't bothered by the lack of sex scenes in the first edition, but enjoyed the follow up anyway, as a nice catch up with the characters. If you've yet to read any version of this book, then buy this one, as it contains both stories.
