Enjoyable read about two sisters and their grandmothers inheritance. Beautifully written and easy to lose yourself in. Thank you for letting me review this book

While the idea of the late grandmother to ask her two granddaughters to live together under one roof to rekindle their sisterly relationship is cute, I find this book being very clichey. Older sister Gracie is the responsible one (but also judgmental and full of bottled-up anger), carefree Juliet simply sleeps around and has a secret from her past blocking her way to adulting (but really, this "secret" is silly compared to all the things that could happen to her living her chosen lifestyle). It is very slow, too.
I also find the book having very problematic way with men - they are the difficult kind here. You can consume what they offer, yet do not fall in love with them as they will only use you. They are not here to stay. Also, heroines behave incredibly stupidly in this area. How about exercising some borders and self-respect (or self-control)?

While I appreciate that the book does not go low and the writing skills are nice, I do not find that I can connect to this novel well.

Relationships can be tricky. This is especially true for family!

Gracie and Juliette Bennett are sisters who let life pull them different directions. They've lost touch with each other, something that is soon put front and center when their beloved Mimi (grandmother) dies. Mimi has stipulated that they live in her Santa Barbara house for 1 year. At the end of that time, they can opt to sell and split the profit as their inheritance.

The novel follows them through the ups and downs of the one-year arrangement. During that time, they learn that they not only can turn to each other in their time of need, but that it is sometimes the best thing they could do.

This is the story of two sisters, now living very separate lives, who come together because of an inheritance. Gracie and Juliette have drifted apart, but their grandmother found a way to renew their relationship. In order for them to inherit the house, they would have to live in it together for a year. I really like the flashbacks to their childhood; it made me really get to know the sisters. The pace was ok for most of the book, but there were some places that it was slow.

Sisters should share this book with each other. It will bond them and bring them closer than they were before.

I enjoyed this cute story about two sister's who must live together in their Grandmother's home for a full year in order to be able to continue to keep the house in the family. This is no easy feat for two highly independent women who have grown apart. Good writing, likeable characters, a little on the long side but still a good and heartwarming story.

I don't have a sister so I was actually jealous of Gracie and Juliette. Page made the two of them come alive on the page. She's carefully plotted a tale which will tug at your heart strings even as you might want to tell both of them to get over themselves. The situation- having to share a house for a year- is not that difficult on its face and sometimes they make things harder than they need to be but rest assured it all turns out well in the end. This was a good, entertaining read- a worthy piece of domestic fiction. THanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

This was a new author to me. It was a lovely story, really well written and thought out, and the three sisters are wonderful characters, hard to choose a favorite out of them. I found it to be an easy read and it was lovely to see how it all turned out for the sisters. There were moments where I smiled and there were moments when I had a tear in my eye.

Absolutely delightful read and yes I would recommend this book.

A Sister's Place
By Savanah Page

A Sisterly Bonding Fest !

Gracie and Juliette Bennett,  are sisters forced to live one year with each other in their grandmother's large rambling home to inherit it.

The two sisters, are total opposites. Gracie a paralegal, who lives her life crossing every T and dotting every I. And Juliette,  a fresh out of college student and free spirit who lives in New York City.

Each chapter is told in a Gracie or Juliette perspective, which pulls the reader into the ups and downs of each protagonists giving character insight.

A great read from beginning to end.

I received this ARC through Netgalley for a honest review.
5 stars !

I throughly enjoyed A Sister's Place. It is the story of two sisters who must reside together in a family home they inherited from their grandmother. The story line is all about their ups and downs as they endeavor to meet this stipulation.. I found the book to be very well written even though it took me a couple of chapters to become engrossed in the book.

A Heart-warming easy to read book about two sisters struggling after the death of their Grandmother. Well written and alternate chapters are told by each of the sisters, which is a lovely idea. I would recommend it to those who love Marian Keyes, Cecelia Ahern and Debbie Macomber .

I've been needing a feel good book, one that I know would end in a happy way. A Sister's Place is that book. The setting is a bit cliché, Gracie is the older more responsible and stable sister, while Juliette is the wild and free younger sister. The one thing I am glad I can say is that it doesn't start with the sister's having a falling out, they have just grown apart as people tend to do, however mimi (a great character I wish was used more) knew this and concocted a really great plan to get them together.

I love the growth the sister have together, yes they are seemingly different but that overwhelming drama that tends to happen, doesn't happen too often, in fact instead of the sisters seemingly switch roles like most of these books tend to do, they Gracie and Juliette instead manage to accept each other flaws and all.

I couldn't, unfortunately, relate to the book. I don't have sisters, I never even wanted a sister ( I have two brothers and sometimes wish I was the only child) so reading this sometimes just made me shrug most of the touching scenes off. I didn't care too much, even though the characters were pretty great. If you had a sister you were close with, yet life got in the way I can tell you this book would be perfect for you.

The ending was a bit predictable for Juliette's part, however I didn't see Gracie's ending coming. I wish the ending gave me more though. I wanted a 'year later' scene that showed me what happened with the sister's relationship, who lives in the house and whatnot. I guess Page wanted you to use your imagination on what happens.

Review:

All those who have a sibling will definitely share similar feelings that I have currently. We might get annoyed with them, and we have a urge to strangle them during such moments but when it comes to fighting the world for them, there's no question about who will stand up first. The book narrates a beautiful journey of two siblings who have drifted apart, despite being closer than best friends once upon a time. The characters have been beautifully etched with a lot of thought behind them and it shows in the way they display a depth of personalities that is clearly evident from the book. However, my favorite aspect of the book would be the five letters that the grandmother bequest as part of the inheritance, and which are to be opened only when the season changes. The metaphorical implocations behind such a simple tool is profound and can not be ignored. But its the content of those letters that leaves a greater impression behind. The entire plot makes you fall in love with the whole book.

My opinion: I loved everything about this book - the plot, narrative sryle, characters, cover image, the title. If you have seen the movie In Her Shoes, you might feel there's some correlation there. But I will still recommend it because not only words are better in creating pictures, but just to read those letters.

My rating: 5 out of 5

A perfect read to finish on Valentines Day. This is the sweet story of two sisters, Grace and Juliette, faced with a challenge from their late grandmother, Mimi, to live together for a year in order to inherit her house.

Of course it's a rocky road, facing lots of issues, coming at life with different philosophies, but ending with true closeness. The little bow that ties it together is the surprise pregnancy of one of the sisters.

A very sweet read!

A Sister’s Place is one of those stories that may take you a chapter or two to really get into the flow, the meat of the story – but once there the build up was definitely worth the wait.

Two sisters, Grace and Juliette, once were as close as sisters could be. But time, decisions and circumstances have widen the gulf between them that they now seem more like strangers. Their beloved grandmother has watched the space widening between them and was unable to bring them back to where they needed to be during her life. But a loving grandmother has her ways, and in death she has given them a second chance – if they use it wisely. They inherit Mimi’s home, a place of love and family together. The catch is they must live in the house, together, for one year before any decision to keep it together, one sister keep the home or sell it outright. It sounds like an easy enough plan for your average sisters – but not for these two. It will take a grandmother’s love, her wise words for each season and some major understanding, lowering of walls for Juliette and Grace to discover the true treasure in their grandmother’s house – love for each other once again.

A Sister’s Place will take you on a journey of pain, anger, sadness, tensions and disappointments – all things that every family goes through at some point, perhaps not to the extent of Grace and Juliette. It will also take you along on their discovery of very different emotions – liking, acceptance, forgiveness, understanding and perhaps back to the unique love that only sisters will truly appreciate.

This year full of Mimi’s letters for each season, the forced time spent together and the basic love that was always there beneath the surface will touch the heart of any reader. Life happens, we all know that. Decisions are often ones we’d take right back if we could, but we can’t. This story brings to life the journey back to family, the emotions involved and perhaps a bit of wise words for us to take away from the experience. I would recommend A Sister’s Place for any reader. This is a love story – between sisters as they find their way back to that closeness they once knew. Definitely a story to touch your heart and your mind.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Loved the relationship between both sisters in this book. They might drive you crazy but sisters are your oldest friends and fiercest supporters when life throws you a curveball.

Enjoyed this book, the conversations between the sisters were so true to life.

I didn't like this book as much as I hoped I would. I felt myself pulling away from the characters based on their actions (like Juliette really didn't know she hadn't committed a felony??) I felt that the premise of the story was good but was disappointed in how it turned out.

Gracie and Juliette have to live together for a year in order to inherit their grandmother's house. Mimi stipulated in her will the sisters need to grow closer together. Juliette moves back to California from New York and starts looking for work. Gracie moves across town and together they grieve their beloved Grandmother. The girls both grow and discover their sisters life isn't all roses and fun. I enjoyed seeing the girls overcome their own difficulties and put aside their own feelings to watch out for each other. I've never read Savannah Page before but she has a good story to tell with a flowing style.
