An honest review thanks to NetGalley. This was my first read by this author, though it had an interesting premise I couldn't find myself getting involved in the story line. It was too much time in the perspective characters head; I wanted to hear about their past relationships by seeing it, not hearing it by flashbacks from the characters. This could be a good book; it just wasn't my style. If you want to read something different, a romance about finding yourself you will enjoy this read.

What a great read. The author has really captured the depth of love and emotions through a difficult jourey

This is the story of a relationship break up and how it affects Alex and Cate. Alex disappears off into the yonder, deciding to trek the Appalachian Trail. Cate heads for Provincetown to paint and ponder what has happened to her life. We hear their thoughts through pieces of writing and memories and the reader has to be quite focused to keep track. The story moves back and forward between time lines. It is quite an angst-ridden book but their love is obvious. I enjoyed the trail descriptions and finding out more about the area.

I was given this ARC by Netgalley and Sapphire books in return for an honest review.

I half liked this book. I seem to have similar feelings as a few other readers. The amount of time I felt the characters spent in angst was extreme. Angst is important but there is a point when you can't take much more. Also, editing is a pet-peeve of mine, when I have to go back and read a sentence several times to figure out what is trying to be said.....

I have some real mixed feeling about this book. First I want to point out I think Madison can write. Her writing is very descriptive almost poetic at times. My problem was really more of the content and a few stylistic choices Madison made. This book was filled with angst, and I'm not sure it had enough of a pay-out for getting through the angst.

The story is about Alex, a teacher, and Cate, an artist. After a hot and heavy romance, Alex tells Cate, "I love you". Cate can't stand the thought of commitment, and they break up shortly after. Alex decides to hike The Appalachian Trail, to get herself back together from heartbreak. Even apart, both women seem to still care about each other. Can they possible get back together, or are they truly meant to be apart?

I guess there is a bit of a problem when, as a reader, you actually hope the two mains don't get back together. I just did not care for Cate, and wanted Alex to find her HEA, with someone else. I found the whole reason Cate could not trust in love, because she had her heart broken at 16, a bit ridiculous. We all get burned as teenagers, when we think we are in love. If every teenager that had their heart broken, never loved again, everyone would be waking around single. It was just not an excuse I was willing to give Cate for her behavior. I think not liking Cate, stopped me from liking their relationship, and that's not good when you are reading a romance.

I mentioned stylistic choices above, what I meant was they way the book moved around so much. You had to pay really close attention to the chapter headings, or you would be lost. This book head-hoped POV's, and had flashbacks, and moved months ahead. It was a lot to keep up with, and slowed things down for me.

What I did really like was the writing about Alex on The Appalachian Trail. It made Alex even more endearing to the reader. I only wish there was less flashbacks, and more time spent on the Trail. As I said before, Madison can write, and it was clear in parts of the story on the Trail and in Provincetown.

This was a hard book to rate, since Madison can really write. It was just my personal preferences, that I didn't care for this book as much as I'd like too. I am willing to give Madison another chance in the future, to win me over.

An ARC was given to me by Netgalley, for a honest review.

I liked this book, for the most part. Sometimes the characters seemed too young for their ages, and therefore not always believable. It was well-written and the characters were interesting and well developed. The author has a good writing style, but there were some editing errors (mostly missing commas). Overall, this was a good book, well worth reading. It won’t be a favorite, but it was very interesting. Based on the synopsis, I expected more sailing, although I really liked the hiking parts. I liked the title and how the author tied that into the story. But I do want to know what the characters end up doing further in the future (just more of an epilogue). So many books are about people that don’t have to worry about money. I wish I could be one of those people, but I also wish there were more books about regular people like me.

I will post this review on Amazon once that is allowed.

wow this book was fantastic an an ARC READER this book really made you think.
Cate and Alex are two stubborn people who met at a elementary school teaching, and their relationship went 0-100 pretty fast but everything was good till cate saw herself caring for Alex just a little more than comfortable. their relationship took both of them on a life journey at first to erase the feelings for each other but it turns out so much more. it took a accident for Cate to find what really mattered and to keep her grounded...I recommend this book to anyone
