Beautiful and silly illustrations will surprise and delight your young reader as you explore how one cleaver fox figures out what toys work best on windy days.

This book was absolutely darling. I love foxes, the illustrations were full paged and whimsical. I am quite wary of bad-tempered children in books (my young kids tend to pass over the lesson and simply repeat or mimic the grump), but despite the occasional harrumph from Argyle, he is quite the adorable little adventurer. I also enjoyed that the wind was almost a character in itself.
My favorite, though, is the ending. I absolutely adore the end page. I'd love a print of that to frame, truly. A very sweet story to recommend!

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read it.

Okay, gosh, this is just adorable. We follow Argyle Fox as he tries, tries, tries, tries again to play outside with different toys and games, only to be thwarted by the blustery wind at every turn. Bless his heart!

This is great story about not giving up and the art is absolutely precious. Definitely recommend!

I'd like to start off by syaing that the art style and artwork in this book is beautiful and a real saving grace of the story. The story itself is cute, but I think the message is overall a little lost. In the end, the message is supposed to be something along the lines of being creative in overcoming challenges (creating something to play with when it's too windy to play with what you want to) but I don't think the setup matches the ending moral. Still, I'm sure it's a book kids would enjoy!

Thank you to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

A lovely story about a fox who wants to play on a windy day. He struggles as everything blows away but then he has a good idea.
Lovely illustrations and a simple yet engaging story make this a lovely book for children.

This little picture book starts off with a bad mood but it ends on a good note for young readers who need a gentle reminder of working through a problem.

Argyle Fox just wants to go outside and play, but every time he tries to engage in his pretend play, he is thwarted by the spring winds. While his mother and friends try to warn him, he perseveres. Eventually he comes up with the perfect way to play for the situation.

Marie Letourneau’s Argyle Fox is a lovely book with beautiful full color illustrations. It is a great way to discuss brainstorming solutions with young children while enjoying a story together.

Spoiler alert: Emers (age 7) – I loved that at the end Argyle Fox came up with an activity and made kites for everyone so that they could all be included.

I would like to read this book to my class when we talk about weather. The story is about a windy day and how annoying the wind can be in spoiling all kinds of fun but also how there are fun things we can do in the wind too. It would be a nice introductory book in my classroom before a kite making project.

This is such a cute book. I read it to my 2 year old son. I enjoyed the problem solving tactics that Argyle implemented after he tried many different activities in the wind, only to have them fail. He was frustrated but he worked through the problem of the wind and found the perfect activity to do. The Illustrations are beautiful too.

Argyle Fox is a cute story of a young fox who wants to play outside on a windy day. He chooses games that cannot be played in the wind though some did seem quite possible.
He goes back home feeling sad when his mom gives him a nudge to think of something he can do in the wind. The concept is sweet, and the illustrations were rather cute. However, it felt like the young fox was a little too casual with his language. Not a problem in other books, but if it’s for kids, some parents may not like it much. Overall, I like it but didn’t love it.
Thank you, NetGalley and Tanglewood Publishing, for the ARC.

I received an eARC of this book in return for an honest review; thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity.

This charming Lee illustrated children’s book follows the adventure of bored young fox who is trying to find something to do on a very windy day. He tries many different things and eventually uses his crafty skills and resourcefulness to come up with a good solution for play.

I absolutely adored everything about this book except young Argyle’s actual verbal reactions to his play efforts being thwarted by the wind. I would have much preferred something more like “Oh dear” or other language to show dissatisfaction/disappointment but not brattiness/petulance to be modeled to young children. Also I think the title could have been more related to the plot elements since it wasn’t necessarily about Argyle himself.

Overall, a decent children’s book but I might change some of the language when reading it to my toddler.

That Argyle Fox is a cutie! This is a good book about persistence and thinking outside the box. I love that Argyle Fox tried several things and didn’t succeed so he found something that would work. Maybe it will help kids realize that even if one plan doesn’t work, another may.

Charmingly drawn story of figuring out how to solve problems and how to match play to the weather and environment. Fox faces a lot of frustration, but the story does a good job of showing how he can think and independently solve problems. Empowering.

Argyle the Fox is trying to play on a very windy day, and keeps getting frustrated when the wind disrupts his play. He is going to need to be clever and really think through the problem to find a way to have fun today! Argyle the Fox has super charming illustrations along with a fun story.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

Argyle Fox, with his signature style, wants to play outside on a springtime day, but the wind is wreaking havoc with his fun and games. As soon as he builds a card tower, climbs into a giant spider web, or takes up his pirate sword, here comes the wind: Woosh! Mama Fox tells grumpy Argyle that if he thinks long enough, he will come up with something to do. Following his mother's suggestion and inspired by her knitting, he works all the pieces of his day together and creates the perfect solution. The story of Argyle teaches that failure is often a path to success and celebrates perseverance, creative thinking, and an old-fashioned springtime activity.

This sounds like an amazing children's storybook. I was unable to download this title. Gave it several tries to no avail. I won't be able to review it.

My apologies,

When Argyle Fox chooses to play outside on a windy day he learns the lesson of choosing the right toys and activities to do on the day. Beautifully illustrated with colourful images that will attract children of all ages this book will help to open up the discussion over the right time and right place to do things. A good book to gift or to have on the shelf in a classroom or library for youngsters.

Argyle just wants to play out side but the pesky wind is making it hard to enjoy a nice spring day. He keeps trying and trying, and when it seems totally impossible he still doesn't give up.

This book is a great way to show your young ones that you need to be flexible and adaptable when things change suddenly. I love how creative and imaginative Argyle was.

Argyle Fox has a whimsical and colorful style. The illustrations are beautiful.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-ARC

This book has beautiful illustrations. It is repetitive for young readers and shows a character that tries to do things but cant and experiences disappointment. Then gives a way to work through the disappointment. This would be good for a child who is struggling with things not going as planned and needing to be flexible.

A young reader that seemed to be perfectly OK, but also one that failed to hit the spot for me. Argyle the Fox wants to do anything and everything in his woodland home that the wind can completely kibosh. Towers of playing cards, out in the open air? Woosh! Football? That's gone into the trees. Pirates? Bugger, my hat! (NB he doesn't actually say that.) Mockers well and truly put on him, he has to come up with plan, well, it's about plan F at the time, but it finally works. The moral is clearly, then, think on't and you'll work out how to have fun/how to solve this problem/how to get what you want, but I found the way Argyle just shouted into the wind (literally) a bit one-note. Three and a half stars, but that certainly doesn't imply classic status.
