The title itself is cringe-worthy, right? I told myself that I would make no assumptions and while some parts remained reprehensible to me, others offered some context and perspective. This book takes us out of our comfort zone and I think that's why I could read it objectively. It goes without saying that our hero is flawed. Lucas takes man-whoring to the next level. But he has layers and there's just something about him that made me keep reading. Perhaps the lure of the seemingly irredeemable? Avery was cute, sassy and funny. She has her own heap of flaws but I was rooting for her. The plot is complex, convoluted, and frankly, jacked up, but life is messy as hell. More than anything, it felt like a snapshot of a messy reality and it felt fresh and different for it. So with that said, safety gang friends: THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR YOU. (view spoiler)

Another novel that both elicits laughs and ALL THE FEELS. I wasn't sure about this book when I first started it, but two chapters in and I was riding the Lucas train. Full Speed Ahead!
I love a good romance that has me giggling at it as much as I am swooning. Avery is just as clumsy and non filtered as I am and I adored that. I would have reacted much the same to a lot of the things she did in this book and it made it all the better.
You are awkward too, admit it.
Then there was Lucas. I swear someone needed to just smack him upside the head once of twice. He made some dumb decisions, but in the end you get it. You get Lucas. You might not agree with how he went about things, but you laugh a bit with/at him, and you get it.
This is a romance that you end up truly falling in love with. By the end of it you are swooning all the same. It is a novel by Rachel Van Dyken, what isn't to love about that.
Hang in there. Give Avery and Lucas a chance and you will fall in love with a cheater. Promise.

I have to say i really enjoyed this book it was the first i have read of rachels and it certainly wont be the last. well written and characters well developed, very believable. Would highly recommend to others.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I've read several of Rachel Van Dyken's books, and I thoroughly enjoyed each one. I love her writing style. The banter between the characters is always my favorite thing. I didn't particularly connect with Thorn or Avery in this book, but I loved the banter between the two. Some of the situations seemed a little far-fetched, but this mostly light, fun read is exactly what I needed right now. I laughed. I cringed. I wanted to slap Lucas.
If you are looking for a story with a lot of depth, this is probably not the right book for you. But if you want something fun that isn't too emotionally draining, I recommend Cheater!

The title had me….hesitating. Cheater. Do I want to read about a cheater…..Yes!!! This was a fun read! It was not at all what I expected.
Cheaters aren’t born, they’re made. Never forget that. You don’t wake up one day and decide to cheat, you don’t make a career out of it, and you sure as hell don’t end up hurting an endless number of people for your own psychotic reasons.
Sometimes.
Things.
Just.
Happen.
With that blurb I must say this is not your typical “cheating” story, so please don’t let that sway you. It is hard without giving the story away to tell you about the cheating situation or why Lucas thinks he’s a cheater.
Lucas Thorn. His failed engagement 4 years ago left a lot of collateral damage. Being engaged to your next door neighbor/high school sweet heart was a big deal. Adding to that - both sets of parents are/were best friends hence ruining their lifelong friendship and it only gets worse! Lots of miscommunication and hidden agendas. Lots of drama & angst! But still so funny!
Four years later Lucas Thorn is a successful VP of Grant Learning. Avery Black, youngest sister to his former fiancée becomes his personal assistant. Avery did not know who she would be working with. She is still very angry.
Avery and Lucas were best friends. When her sister was busy with wedding plans and her Master’s degree Lucas would drive Avery to work and go to her softball games. Avery was 17, almost 18 at the time. Lucas was a huge part of her life.
What can I say? I loved this book! It was so funny! The banter between Lucas & Avery was hilarious! Those two together…..match, meet gasoline! Laugh out loud scenarios. The chemistry was hot!
I really don’t want to give any more away. If you are looking for a laugh out loud book with lots of banter and chemistry, then this is it for you!
“Is there a reason that every story you come up with involves you being the hero, while I end up maimed, in prison, or almost murdered?”
“I think my favorite one was when you got jumped, and I saved your life with my kung fu.”
“Admit it. The closest you’ve been to kung fu is the movie Kung Fu Panda, which you probably watched because you’re convinced the panda is your spirit animal since it’s always eating.”

Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, how many times can you shake your head at this boy before he gets it right. A man that thinks if he is open with 6 women about sleeping with the others that he isn't cheating. A man that thinks that as long as he is honest about where he stands, none will get hurt or attached. Boy is he wrong.
Avery knows Lucas well. He was after all her best friend when she was younger, set to marry her sister. They were close, he was her hero. She felt betrayed when it didn't work out with her sister. He left, never even saying goodbye.
The banter between these two made the book. It was cute, normal, and reminded me a little of people I know. They kept each other on their toes and didn't let each other off the hook. They were honest which was refreshing until it came to their feelings. Why? Because real feelings always get in the way.
As long as you can get past the whole he was going to marry her sister and is now with her plot, you will be good. I personally ignored it and moved to the story line.

Loved this book. I am a big fan of this author. I love the characters she writes. We start off me! I eting Lucas and he explains why he is a cheater. Then we met Avery. Lucas and Avery have known each other for most of their lives. When Avery sees him she is not at all happy about it, but they are stuck together.
As each of them try to make the other persons life hell, things start to affect their families. It was so funny. The scenes that were put together and the way Lucas and Avery responded to each was great. I loved it. I can't wait for the next book.

I actually loved this story. I loved seeing how everything came about and learning why Lucas is the way he is. It definitely has the humor you are used to reading from Rachel Van Dyken. It also has sweet aspects and times that you want to chunk your reading device.
I was not a fan of Lucas in the beginning, but after learning more and understanding him a little better, he really began to grow on me. I loved Avery in the beginning, but I was frustrated at the fact that she was so strung and had no trouble standing up for herself, yet she gave in so quickly to Lucas. Other than that, I loved everything about this story.
I will always read Rachel Van Dyken. She is definitely on my list for authors I will read whatever they right. I thought Cheater was a great story and I can't wait to read more from her.

If you are looking for a great laugh, you will find it in this book. It is true that Lucas Thorn cheated on the eve of his wedding ruining his reputation forever. So the man who made a mistake now won't let anyone get close. He becomes a true player. He does have rules no relations on Sunday, no commitments, no exceptions.
Avery Black, the sister of Lucas' cheated on bride and now she has to work with him. The snarky, strawberry blonde plots payback for her sister, but Lucas has a few tricks up his sleeve. They meet after a few years and they zing, but neither one wants to admit it even to themselves.
I enjoyed the comedy in the book. The banter between Avery and Lucas is funny. The dinner with Lucas' parents had me laughing out loud. The story is just not a predictable RomCom. The 4 star rating is based on the mistakes and the over use of slapstick scenes which makes it a bit confusing at times. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I really loved and enjoyed this book. Really a good story and great characters. Cant wait to read more.

Cheater was a really fun book to read, it had me laughing through so many scenes.
Even though the plot line might be a bit predictable, the story telling made it refreshing and I really liked reading it.
Lucas is the perfect romantic comedy male character and the kind of "jerk" I love. The leading female gives as good as she gets, though. They balance each other.
His family and Avery's family are INSANE, and sometimes for me they were too over the top. It made they seems too unreal.
Overal I really enjoyed reading Cheater.

OMG! This book is awesome!
Don’t hold this title against this book.
That word usually puts me off reading a book completely, especially when it's in the title.
This is the first book in the Curious Liaisons series by Rachel van Dyken, Lucas Thorne is charismatic, understanding, kind, and a complete manwhore and Avery is amazing, funny and independent.
Cheater is hilarious, beautiful, and sexy.
I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

This story was shockingly cute and funny which is not something I would have thought a cheater story would be. Avery is completely nuts and has a slight food addiction (that's my girl) and she also the baby sister of Lucas's former fiancé. As stated in the title there was cheating incident which is the basis for Lucas's manwhore behavior. However, we do learn the behind the scenes circumstances that lead up to faithful or should I say unfaithful event.
Favorite scene: the gynecologist visit (I cried!)
Possible Spoilers:
I'm usually not a fan of cheating books but I have to say this book was fun (go figure) and I didn't completely hate Lucas. Now I wasn't too happy with the sister connection, that is just way too much family sharing in my opinion. FYI, I hate Brooke.
I would love to know why Thatch did what he did to poor Austin because there definitely seemed to be a reason.

I am so glad I took a chance on this book! I'm ashamed to admit that as much as I love this author's writing, I almost didn't read this one because of the title and what I thought it meant. Please don't make the same mistake I did - read this book now! It was hilarious but also a bit angsty. There was a lot these characters had to overcome but I loved every second of it. This author writes the best humor! I loved this book and can't wait to read whatever this author writes next!

I enjoyed thoroughly reading Lucas and Avery's story. I found the title of the book intriguing and wanted to read it. Well it was not what I expected , it was better.
Lucas and Avery's story is entertaining, passionate and full of drama.
" when a man loves me, he's going to get all of me, not twenty-four hours."

Cheater had me hooked instantly. Lucas Thorn is the type of man you want to punch in throat, but still end up loving regardless. Rachel Van Dyken is one of my go-to authors. She never disappoints. This is right up there with Matchmakers Replacement as one my my favorite RVD books. Full of humor, wit, sexiness--I ADORED Cheater!
I can't wait for Thatch and Austin's story!

I absolutely love everything Rachel Van Dyken writes. She really knows how to create the best "bad boy" characters and Lucas was no exception in this book. Avery was sassy and outspoken and I absolutely loved watching her develop throughout the story. Definitely recommend, especially for New Adult readers!

5 I LOVE THIS CHEATER CROWNS
I love this book so much. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a title and a synopsis indicating the leading man, Lucas Thorne, is in fact a cheater. On top of being a cheater, he embraces it and defends his choices, but Rachel Van Dyken did an amazing job making him redeemable, resulting in my love of this book.
Lucas Thorne is something else, charismatic, understanding, kind, and a complete manwhore. Surprisingly, seeing him with his girls makes readers like him. Here is where the reader gets to see his compassion, his understanding, and his general like of each of his girls. As a result, he becomes so much more than a cheater. With his interactions with Avery, readers get to see a different side of Lucas. They get to see a little bit of the broken part of him, and they get to see what has motivated him to live this lifestyle. With each piece of his past that is revealed, readers begin to endear themselves to him, especially as he begins to change and evolve.
Avery, the woman responsible for so much in this novel, is fantastic. She loves food, like moans and groans over a good meal. She is working hard to be independent and make it on her own. She has no issue putting Lucas Thorne in his place. Even with all these wonderful attributes, she is still at times this clumsy and sometimes awkward woman, which makes her more relatable. What will also earn reader allegiance is the way she is treated by her family, particularly her sisters. Readers will root for her to get her HEA, even with a cheater like Lucas Thorne.
Cheater is so entertaining, funny, romantic, and steamy. From the opening pages, the banter and love-hate relationship between Lucas and Avery will engage readers. What will really enthrall readers, though, is watching these two begin to change and evolve, especially as it becomes more and more difficult for them to hide their true feelings for each other. By the end of this book, these two characters, especially Lucas, get the ending they absolutely deserve.
Cheaters by Rachel Van Dyken is so fantastic. To take story that centers around a cheater and to make him lovable speaks to the talent of this author, and I cannot wait to see her tackle the next cheater.

4.5 Stars!!!!
4 "Satan" Stars!
Alright, okay, I under no circumstances condone cheating! Like, hand-to-heart HELL! NO! BUT, and before y'all pull a "Kanye" on me, please let me finish. Lucas is a, um, complicated man. He has his system and all parties involved know what they're getting into. Do I approve? Well, no, but if it works for them, who the hell am I to judge?
I, like many of the women, fell under LUCAS THORNS' charm. Ugh, I didn't want to, believe me I tried, but he got under my skin; in the good kind of way. Yeah, don't worry, I just smacked myself in the forehead. Because why on earth would I find a cheater attractive?! *rolls eyes* But even with his charm and great hair and smoldering eyes I would NEVER, cross-my-heart and pinky swear would I become just a "one day" of the week girl. Because once a cheater, ALWAYS a cheater, am I right?
Avery Black, girrrrrrrl, you were so refreshing and feisty, and I applaud your tenacity. You seriously knew how to put Lucas in his place, and it was awesome! The banter between Lucas and Avery was absolutely hilarious. Seriously, these two complimented one another so well. They were s'cute together. I was rooting hardcore for them.
This was my first Rachel Van Dyken book and it certainly won't be my last.

***4,5 "Thorn in my side!!!" stars***
“Hating him was difficult. Being attracted to him was inevitable.”
Well, this was an interesting, very crazy, with lots of fun ride!!!
The story was a little bit absurd and the characters crazy as hell, but that was a very enjoyable compination...
I really had fun while i was learning the story of Lucas Thorn and Avery Black!!!
“This is my story.
You will hate it.
You will hate me.”
Lucas Thorn is a cheater.... He didn't born that way but he was made... And everything started when he was caught cheating his future wife with her sister a day before his wedding...
Now, after four years, Lucas is a professional cheater...
No, forget what you are already thinking!!!! His situation is different!!!
He has a girl for every day of week, except Sunday...
Lucas doesn't think that he is cheating on them, since they all know about the others...
His plan is working just fine until the moment Avery Black is coming back in his life...
"I loved it.
The rush.
The feeling of kissing a stranger a few days after breaking off an engagement, a promise of lifetime commitment that never felt quite right.
It was exciting.
Wild.
And the best part?
There was no chance I would hurt anyone—or anyone would hurt me. It was in that moment that I realized I wasn’t the guy who committed—I was the guy . . . who cheated."
Avery Black had bad luck lately, so she desperately needs this internship... She needs money, because she is almost homeless, very hungry and she doesn't want to get back home to start living with her parents in her old room...
But when she is meeting her new boss, she is becoming furious...
Lucas Thorn was the reason for all the hurt in her family, but for her broken heart too...
He was her hero and he turned out a cheater and a big a$$!!!!
"Lucas Thorn was a sickness.
A darkness that never left.
He was a rutting bastard.
He was still— unfortunately— gorgeous."
From that moment, everything turned upside down...
Not only in Lucas's plan, but with his whole life...
Avery and her big mouth is making a big mess for both of them and the things are getting very soon out of hands...
At the same time, they are coming closer and closer and they remember the hows and whys used to bound them all those years before...
"One step forward. A moment when he showed me he was actually a decent human worth saving. Worth loving.
Ten giant steps back."
Which were the reasons who led Lucas in that lifestyle???
Will Avery manage to forgive Lucas for his cheating ways???
Will Lucas deny his absurd ways with his women??? For Avery's sake??? Is it even possible???
Will Avery allow him to get back in her heart??? And with what cost???
How their family react in all this craziness???
Is there a future for them???
"It’s because what we had between us was real. The most real thing I’d ever experienced with anyone.
Only now?
I had nothing holding me back, except for the guilty feeling in the back of my head that told me—even if she gave me her heart, I’d never be able to give her mine. Not when so many other women currently had a piece of it."
I know that Lucas was a real a$$ with this crazy idea of his, but i really liked the guy...
I understood from the first moment that there was a reason for his downfall and i was soooo right!!! But i think that he made a big mistake back then, because he didn't try to explain...
And then, he started the professional cheating!!!! Bahahaha...
This man was gorgeous, sarcastic and very, very funny!!!
I loved how he pressed Avery's buttons and i enjoyed very much the way that he bribed her with food!!!! Bahahaha...
"One day you were my friend, and then you became something completely different. Because I wanted you. Because even when it was wrong... I wanted you."
"But I’d always been selfish—once a cheater, always a cheater, right? Only this time, this time it really did feel wrong.
This felt like cheating.
I wasn’t cheating her.
I was cheating us."
Avery was such an amazing, crazy, sweet, kind and hillarious person!!!
I loved that she was speaking whatever she was thinking without thinking the consequences.... In a way, it was adorable, even though the results were a madness!!!
I liked how she tried to deny her feelings for Lucas by insulting him all the damn time....
But what i enjoyed very much was that she was too easy to be persuaded by food!!!
God, that girl could do anthing for a hamburger!!!! Bahahaha....
"His grin made me weak, so weak that I had to hold on to him for strength. Funny how things come full circle. How he’d always been my rock.
Dependable.
Loving.
And now?
He held all the power. Lucas Thorn . . . could destroy me."
Those two when they were in the same roon was... volative!!!
They argue, fight, push each other to their limits and still the love that they were sharing, it was impossible to hide!!!
They were made for each other!!!
“Because I kissed you, and I knew in that moment that if I could kiss a seventeen-year-old girl... then I was already screwed. In my mind, I was cheating. I was a cheater then, Avery. I’m a cheater now. At least now I admit it. When I was with Kayla . . . all I wanted. Was. You.”
The secondary characters were also.... furiously hillarious!!! Especially Lucas's mother!!! The woman was totally crazy and absurd!!!
The same goes for his rest of the family, as well, for the Blacks!!!!
Those guys were sooo... irrational, but in a funny way!!!
I totally recommend this book for a happy break!!!!
Can't wait for the second book since I'm so curious about how Thacher will mend things with Austin after what he did in the end of this book!!!
