what a hot sexy read, wow Lucas has made a name for himself, the player, non commitment, ever since he was caught cheating on his fiancée on thier wedding day, he feels he can't do no better but Avery is causing him to second guess himself can he prove himself? working for Lucas wasn't her first choice, she's not forgotten what he did to her sister, so pay backs are hell but when loath turns into lust can she stop her heart from wanting Lucas?

Part 1 of a new series
My Cheater Review . . .
As per usual, Rachel Van Dyken had me laughing out loud with her outrageous banter and had me absolutely adoring this new series.
Lucas Thorn screwed up! Big time. And for his penance he's chosen to be a serial 'cheater' as its easier then hurting someone he cares about or hurting himself. So, when Avery the girl of his past haunts shows up back in his life, things are about to get tricky. As he's forced to face his fears, his past, his hopes and dreams.
Avery has loved one man and he shattered her heart and all her hopes and dreams. Now years later she's still hurt but she's old enough to try and move on even though the one man she loved, she now hates. Now that she has to survive on her own, it makes her desperate for a job, any job. What she didn't expect is to work for the one whom she loves and hates.
"Look at me like that again and I'm putting Ex-Lax in your coffee, then locking all the bathroom doors."
The minute Avery and Lucas collide into each others lives sparks explode. But not all good ones. For Lucas, his lifestyle isn't conventional but oddly enough seems to work for him. Even though his heart belongs to someone else. Someone it shouldn't. His odd choice of living are safe. But then Avery walks back in and causes his world to implode on itself.
"Right, I get it-to you it's not cheating if they know. To me it just seems like a really solid way to get an STD or get a girl pregnant that you don't even like, making it so you have to fire Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday!"
The banter between these two is hilarious and their families are absolutely crazy. Which I love.
"Riddle me this, " she said in a calm voice once we were back in the car. "How did a dinner with your parents turn into a discussion about an engagement, marriage, grandchildren, and safe sex-then finally somehow detour into planning an appointment for me with a gynecologist with both you and your mother present?"
I.
Had.
Nothing.
This series has so much potential and I love the way Rachel Van Dyken delivers her stories. This was fun, unconventional, witty, and sweet.
4 Wittiful Thumbs up!

3.5 stars
Cheater by Rachel Van Dyken drew me in from the first page and held me until the last.
A fun and entertaining read and hard to put down.
Looking forward to the next book Cheater's Regret in the Curious Liaisons series.

All I can say is don’t judge a book by it’s title. I know, I know… a book called Cheater? Has to be about cheating right? Well… not really. Believe me. I HATE books about cheating. They are hard limits for me. But come on now. This is RACHEL VAN DYKEN! Has she ever steered you wrong? Has she ever given you a book that you haven’t laughed your butt off or cried from emotions that you feel for the characters (either good or bad)? So trust me… You are going to love to hate and then love even more… Mr. Lucas Thorn.
Let me fill you in on some things about Cheater. Number 1: Avery is a hoot! I loved her the first moment she opens her mouth. She will make you laugh so hard that people will be looking at you as if you have a few screws loose. (I highly recommend not reading anywhere it’s quite, because you won’t be able to maintain the silence for long). Number 2: Lucas is the kind of guy you love to hate. He’s egotistical, arrogant, sexy and he knows it. But the boy is damaged. And Avery just may be the girl to change everything around. Number 3: You will never look at connect four the same again.
Take the leap. Be the rebel and read the book called Cheater. I promise you. It will all be ok.

Title was misleading on this one because the H wasn't actually a cheater. Either way i enjoyed, but didn't live up to her other books.

Everyone recommends books and sometimes they are... entertaining. THIS book will make your day, your week, your year!
Once you are branded a cheater can you ever convince the world you are not?
One drunken night the eve of his wedding, one mistake, forever under the hangover of being a cheater, destroying two families' friendship, and being the black sheep of the family. Well, if they are going to brand you cheater, you might as well enjoy the life of a cheater. Each night of the week has a pre-assigned mate, they all know you are on a strict schedule of variety with no commitments in sight. Lucas is convinced this is not really cheating, but heck, his family will not let it go! All is about to go topsy-turvy when who but Avery becomes his assigned intern. Can he possibly work with her and be her boss when she is the sister of the woman he almost married? When she is the woman who has held his heart all these years?
Our author has woven a funny, enlightening, and mind-blowing plotline just in time to melt the last of Winter's snow. Be prepared to laugh out loud and stay up all night reading this gem. You will definitely not want to put it down. The plotline is rather unique. Twists and turns will only convince you this was the book you really needed to read this year.
If I could give this book more than 5 STARS I would! I am reviewing this book on a voluntary basis. This book should be read by anyone loving a romantic and funny story.

Despite saying that it is a contemponary romance, Cheater has many romantic comedy features with funny scenes, sharp and witty dialogues, Avery and Lucas live a real external war for the power of control and an internal war as well because they can not stop thinking how they like each other.
What I find most interesting in the book's idea is that the main focus is on the boy and not the girl, he begins the book explaining what happened in the past so that he would turn out to be a guy totally averse to compromise .As the story unfolds, the writer creates a strong connection between Lucas and the reader. I saw myself at various times not accepting his attitude, but understanding and hoping that he could overcome the trauma, not because I felt pity for him but because I could see how it was a great pain in his chest. No matter how he said it, he had not moved on the night that had transformed his life.
Surrounded by so many feelings, Avery needed to show her strength and capacity to her family , mostly her sisters and this was another point that pleased me a lot, because the book is no longer a story of a womanizer guy who discovers love and wants to change. No! The book showed how the girl was able to impose herself to everybody who treated her as a child even though she was an adult. And that for me it had no better scene than the one at the end. She was amazing in this point.
The cover already conveys this idea of womanizer and funny book and it was it that really attracted me to the book and I was happy to see that I was not mistaken. The book is too good.
Already notice that I am anxious for the book of Austin and Thatch.
5/5 stars.
Kisses, Myl

Oooookay..... This almost was my 1st DNF for 2017 and I had to walk away from this e-arc from NetGalley many a times. A disappointment because I had enjoyed Van Dyken's Wingmen Inc. series. Like those books, the hero is a man whore and like it's 2nd book, always secretly lusted after his true love. Only in this case, it's his ex-fiance's kid sister who he used to help care for. Creepy, right? Also like Book # 2 Wingmen Inc: The Matchmaker's Replacement, the story is told in alternate POV and the frenemies-to-lovers have to work together because kid sis needs money to eat, though lover boy's VP status enables him disposable cash for food, drinks and a nice home where she can crash.
Now that I've established I'm kind of familiar with Van Dyken's guy-girl formula, I came real close to giving this book 1 star but reconsidered it could've been a heck of a lot worse and am going with 1.5. Why? Because this story was ungrounded and had no chemistry for the characters or this reader to get sucked in. Van Dyken tried to bring in the emotional hurt for our scarred characters on occasion, but it never matured enough to feel believable. Nor was the romance that sizzling. The whole set-up sounded goofy from the start and I found myself considering this such outrageous fiction, I could not believe this is marketed as only a contemporary romance.
Pet peeves I had a really hard time buying:
* For his Mon-Sat rotation of women, he was more sex therapist for the ladies than for himself, maybe even to atone for his "cheating" on ex-fiance with the older sister (yes, all 3 sisters have had a taste of him and, yes, we all realize this is certainly a messed up "sisters before misters")
* That kid sis Avery would dress like a hooker intern in a business environment where she is trying to impress people for a FT job. BTW, the whole clutzy in her heels thing is getting ridiculous. Why can't we find it endearing for guys to trip over their feet? And the sexy time where work people or family are a step nearby? That's not a turn on.
* That both characters would roll with a fake relationship in the most ridiculous of ways and get into the craziest of situations because of their far-out lies. In the real world, this would never happen and this is where the story went too far. Lucas not telling his sister (whom he spends time with every week!) the truth or that there'd even be a trip to the gyno? Really? I was stunned no one stopped Van Dyken from these insulting scenarios so she could craft something with more quality.
Her readers are smarter and deserve much better. I'm already cringing that there's a book 2 to this series.

Before I give you my 2 cents, I just want to say that I have loved many of Rachel Van Dyken's books. She is obviously an extremely, talented writer (a Bestselling author, to be exact!) and tells amazing stories. That being said, I am sad to say that Cheater was not one of my favorites. That's okay though, because others have fallen in love with Lucas Thorn, and for that, I am excited! I personally just struggled with the characters and the story line this time. The story was seamlessly written with love and humor, but I just couldn't get past the relationship between Lucas and the Black sisters. I struggled with believing that their families, especially the Black family, would welcome Lucas and Avery's relationship with open arms after everything they had been through over the years. It wasn't the cheating that bothered me, more so it was the idea of two sisters that were okay with knowing that they had both slept with the same man. I would be pissed and grossed out! LOL Prude... prude... I know, "I" just couldn't do that and so for that reason alone, I think I struggled with connecting with the characters. At any rate, would I recommend this book to a fellow reader? YES, I would! Just because it didn't do it for me doesn't mean it's not a great book. Rachel Van Dyken is brilliant, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to read one of her books based solely on my little opinion. In fact, I can't wait to read what's next from her. I am counting down the days until the release of book 2, Thatch and Austin's story!

I will be one hundred percent honest the title made me twitch. The blurb was intriguing but my disgust for that word made me hesitant. In the end my love for RVD made me do it and boy am I glad.
Society, and well me too, have a huge disdain for the word, the act, and the connotation. But to play devil's advocate...why?
Clearly some people don't or there wouldn't be any cheaters right?
I absolutely loved Cheater. Me, the girl who cringed in disgust at the title, I loved it. I, the serial monogamist with previous foray into naughty "two for Tuesdays", loved this book.
Welcome to the story of how a man broke a vow. How it broke him and those around him. See how a Cheater is made...
I love Avery. Her fire, her personality, and her down right love of food spirit animals- all these things make her special. She really is. So much so that the Cheater...is cheating on...wait, I'm not going to spill the beans.
Just know this Avery has a problem, it's called loose tongue syndrome. When she's nervous, random, awful things fly out of her mouth. This entire book is her fault- Lucas Thorn
A fun and wild story about family, love, and the wrong path!

This was a quick and easy read to enjoy. You get caught up in the drama and attraction of each character while at the same time being torn between wanting to root for Lucas or Avery. Never really had a book about cheater portrayed like this and I'm still on the fence if I agree with it but it was a good read nonetheless.

Kindly provided with an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.....
This was WORLD CLASS !!! Honestly, if you have never read anything from Rachel I suggest you get right on and change that !!. Her books are phenomenal !!!
This will have you blood pressure sky rocketing !! It was Lucas and Avery's tale and woo wee what a tale it was.
I refuse to give much away as I do not want to spoil it for you, but I will say Lucas starts off as a regular guy and has an experience that completely changes him and he become the dictionary definition of "casual relations only". Gah !! I totally got why, I just wanted to shake him and make him realise that not all women were the same and not to judge the female population (and make them suffer) because of one !!!
Then along comes Avery and she is just a force to be reckoned with and she is EXACTLY what Lucas needed. This book elicited so many thoughts and feelings......it was brilliant. I was genuinely depressed when it ended !!
Although I am counting the days until Thatch's book xxx
This book is a 10++++ "Cheat on my Heart Starts" (but I'll get you in the end !!!)
A MUST read peeps xxx
Rachel thumbs up and HUGE smile for this superb book. Many thanks for the opportunity xx
Later peeps xxx

With a title like Cheater, I was a little bit cautious about this book going into it, but I figured what the heck- I love RVD's books, so I may as well give it a whirl! I am glad I did because this is one of those books where the title definitely doesn't tell the whole story.
Lucas was together with Kayla from the time they were in 8th grade, and dating her was all that he knew by the time they graduated high school and started thinking about the future. The Thorn and Black families went together like peanut butter and jelly, and they were already completely intertwined before Lucas and Kayla ever got engaged. Unfortunately Lucas was only doing what was expected of him and became more and more miserable as he realized 2 things. One, he really couldn't envision a happy future with Kayla even before her bridezilla tendencies came through. And two, he really loved her youngest sister Avery in a way that spelled all sorts of problems for him. Finally, the night of the rehearsal dinner, he got really drunk and made a really big mess of everything although we definitely know the whole story until almost the end of the book.
Now five years later, Avery finds herself in desperate need of a job so that she doesn't have to move back home with her parents and her miserable sister Brooke, one of the main causes of the Lucas Thorn mess. She takes a job as an intern in the hopes that she will be able to land a lucrative full time position, but she is horrified when she comes face to face with man who will be her boss and in charge of her final review: none other than Lucas himself.
See, Avery also had a major crush on Lucas back before the whole wedding debacle, but his actions ripped apart their families and her heart so she now has it safely hidden behind seven foot walls topped by barbed wire. The question is whether those walls will hold up to the Lucas Thorn effect. He is still the same handsome, charming devil he always was, but since that awful night he has decided if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, and he has become exactly the manwhore everyone thought he was. He has a different woman every day of the week, and they all know about each other yet he manages to make them each feel special anyway. One of his ladies describes him best as she is getting ready to move on to find someone who can give her the HEA she is looking for.
Lucas is floored to see Avery, but old feelings come rushing back despite the fact that she despises him. What follows is a lot of moments masquerading as hate to camouflage love, moments of genuine disgust and anger, a lot of self doubt, and some seriously hot banter until they finally cave and combust. Little by little we learn all the details leading up to that awful night, and they also have to deal with a little white lie that spirals out of control and rapidly escalates until they can't find a way out. Hmm, do they really want to find a way out though?
I loved Lucas and Avery together. Lucas has become a victim of the misconceptions surrounding the night before his wedding, and he has built his own walls to protect himself from the pain of his family's disappointment in him as well as the loss of what could have been. Avery is quite a few years younger than Lucas but they still fall into their old patterns easily, and her defensive mechanism of sarcasm had me howling in laughter too many times to count. Add in their kooky families, especially Lucas's mom and dad, and I couldn't stop turning the pages. Unfortunately Avery's sisters Kayla and Brooke don't deal with the situation well, especially the mean spirited and bitter Brooke who has always looked down on Avery and anyone else she felt she could grind under her heel. Brooke tries one last ditch attempt to hurt Avery and Lucas, and although it didn't work out the way she planned, there are still some unresolved details stemming from it that I am hoping to see play out in another book in the future.
Bottom line: don't judge this book by its title!

An utterly fantastic book. Light hearted, weirdly romantic considering the title and totally swoon worthy. Fully review here http://www.mamamummymum.co.uk/2017/03/cheater-by-rachel-van-dyken-book-review.html

Let me start by saying this is a review I never wanted to have to write. I have been a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken's for a very long time, and for the most part I love her books. But occasionally she writes some that just don't work for me, and unfortunately Cheater was one that didn't. I still love her and am a huge fan, this just wasn't the book for me.
On the night before his wedding Lucas Thorn was caught in an incident that changed his life and reputation forever. Branded a cheater after being caught in another woman's bed, Lucas decided to own his new reputation. Now he has a different girl for every day of the week (except Sundays of course!) and he doesn't do any kind of commitment. But when Avery Black goes to work for him, he finds himself wanting more. Avery hasn't been able to forgive Lucas though since he betrayed her family and ruined everything, but she quickly learns that she just might want more than revenge when it comes to Lucas.
I have to admit that a huge part of my issue here were the characters. They were immature and over the top, something that I have had problems with from RVD before. Sometimes her humor just doesn't click with me and gets a bit too much, and that was definitely the case here. While there were a few things I found funny, for the most part it just felt so forced and didn't do anything for me. Lucas also continued to act as though nothing had changed and I wasn't okay with that when there were feelings being developed. I understand his reputation was the main point of the book, but he continued to have all these girls that he was with right in front of Avery. Once feelings start to develop or return, that is the kind of thing that ruins a book for me...especially considering that she worked for him and she had to manage his "other" calendar. Because of all that it just made it hard to really believe in any kind of connection between these characters.
Besides the character issues, I felt like the story itself was just a bit too over the top and unbelievable as well. Like the humor, there were so many things that just didn't sit right for me and I found it hard to actually believe that they were possible. Lucas was engaged to his high school sweetheart, Kayla who also happened to be Avery's sister, and the night before he was to marry her he was found drunk in bed with their other sister Brooke all the while he hadn't actually loved Kayla but was in love with Avery...it just didn't work. I thought maybe I could find something that would change my mind about these two and their relationship as I read, but honestly I just didn't see it and couldn't get past all the issues I had with the story. For me, Cheater was too contrived and immature for me to ever get into and unfortunately I was disappointed with this one. It won't be the last I read from Rachel Van Dyken though as I do love a lot of her stories. If it sounds like one you might like, give it a go but be prepared for the over the top and immature characters and humor.

So I will be honest and say I really struggled with this book. I was so excited about it and then I just really had a hard time. There was actually a point where I wanted to DNF it, but I stuck with it. And I'm happy I did.
From the synopsis, we know that Avery and Lucas knew each other well before Avery became Lucas' intern. But things have changed since Lucas cheated on Avery's sister. Lucas has embraced his supposed reputation of being a cheater, only he follows the adage that if they know about it, its not cheating.
The chemistry and banter between Avery and Lucas was awesome. Even when they bicker, you can easily see how they were such close friends before. I enjoyed the way the author made their friendship strong because it made it a lot easier to see their attraction to each other. Yes, both are good looking. But when we see them interact is where we see how they work as a couple. This was probably my favorite aspect of the story.
This book has a lot of funny moments in it. There is a scene, or several, with Lucas' parents and I admit that I outwardly cringed. You'll laugh but also die of second-hand humiliation on behalf of Lucas and Avery. Many times, I found myself laughing and also covering my eyes because envisioning the scene I was reading about was so mortifying.
I mentioned above that I struggled with this story. I wanted to explain that in depth because I think a lot of people assume it would be the cheating aspect, but its not. I think when we see the backstory of Lucas and Avery, and knowing how he was engaged to her sister, I kept feeling like this story wouldn't end well. So in my mind, I was dreading this family fall-out that I felt like had to be coming. I get involved with the characters when I read and I never want bad things to happen to them. This story literally brought pits of dread in my stomach because I was so worried about Avery and Lucas.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this author already or if you're looking for a book that definitely takes romance and completely flips it on its head. The story is fast-paced, hilarious and incredibly sweet. Take a chance on a Cheater...you never know what you'll find.

Cheater stole my heart.
It was sexy, sweet, and funny. Don't let the title fool you, it's not as bad as you may think.
Lucas has, err, issues? Yeah, lets go with that. He also has a past that won't stop haunting him. Don't we all? Thus, in short, a cheater was made.
Avery? She's a part of that past. The best part, I think. And they're brought together again, under surprising circumstances but it was entertaining as heck.
Their banter made me smile, their fights made me laugh (some made me almost cry), and their friendship was one I think a lot of people can relate to.
The only thing that bothered me was the timeline and how quickly it all happened, but that was so minor it didn't alter my love for this story.
Rachel Van Dyken is an author has has yet to disappoint me. Her stories are witty and original. This one was no different.

Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) by Rachel Van Dyken
4 stars!!!
“That’s the Lucas Thorn effect.”
Rachel Van Dyken has had me in hysterics reading this book, I have had tears of laughter and even had a “spat my tea” incident and I have to admit I haven’t laughed as much in ages. The dialogue in this book is some of the best I have read in a while and the humour, wit and banter was prevalent throughout.
“Never did figure out how he got his little hot dog in there!”
However, I will preface this review with a little disclaimer. If you have an issue with a total manwhore who has a schedule for a different woman in his bed Monday to Saturday, you will not like this book. However, if like me, it doesn’t bother you and you can read it for what it is, tongue in cheek, then you will definitely laugh as much as I did. Some of the treatment of secondary characters is rather shady and definitely not empathetic, but if, like me, you read it for the rom com it is, then this will not bother you either. I read this as a light hearted, funny read, yes, it is a bit unrealistic, yes, the situations are a little over the top, but it is rom com and it is that, that I base my review. Do I condone some of the actions, definitely not, but it made for hilarious reading none the less.
“Sometimes a guy just needs good sex.”
Lucas Thorn was engaged to his childhood sweetheart, the prom king and queen, the “it” girl and boy and because of the length of their relationship and the friendship of their parents he kinda felt he had to go through with it, even though, deep down, he knew he had feelings for someone else. The night before the wedding though, he gets cold feet and is determined to come clean and this night will forever be known as “the night that shall not be named.”
Having escaped “wedded bliss” Lucas is determined to never fall into the same trap again, so he has a different woman in his bed six nights of the week. They all know the situation, they all know they are one of six and all are happy with the arrangement. It works perfectly, until the woman, the one that made Lucas question his engagement all those many years ago, comes to work for him. Oh, and did I mention that she is the younger sister of the original bride to be!!
“It’s not cheating if you know.”
Avery Black was a fantastic heroine, her witty comebacks and her ballsy attitude really brought Lucas to his knees. It is her spitfire personality that really reigns him in and makes him want to change. Avery was always his unicorn, the one he couldn’t have, but give him the possibility and this man changes in the blink of an eye. It was this immediate change that really emphasised the depths of his feelings towards her. Lucas just needed a reason to change.
“There would be blood, folks. There would be blood.”
Rachel Van Dyken seemingly does the impossible with making me root for these two as a couple, I mean come on, this is Lucas Thorn, manwhore extraordinaire. However, once Rachel Van Dyken explains their past and explores Lucas’s feelings all those many moons ago you begin to understand why he did the things he did. He was trapped and he didn’t know how to escape. So, while getting a huge dose of the feels and all those emotions that an “I’ve loved you forever” storyline brings Rachel Van Dyken cements these two in your heart as a couple you want to make it. With love/hate thrown into the mix and some decidedly dodgy situations Rachel Van Dyken will also have you in fits of laughter and it is this light-hearted side that really cemented this as a great read for me.
“The last time I tried I fell for someone else. A girl with bright green eyes and strawberry-blonde hair who smelled like grape gum and called me by my last name. She made me feel alive. I think she’s the only one capable of giving a cheater a reason to change his ways. That’s all I can give you, the truth.”

Not usually a fan of "cheater" books, but I'll read anything Rachel Van Dyken writes, so I was willing to give this one a chance – definitely does not disappoint. This isn't your typical cheater book, I LOVED it!
Lucas Thorn is found the night before his wedding in bed with his wife-to-be's sister. Quickly earning him the label of cheater. Lucas does nothing to defend himself and spends the next few years living life with a different woman each day, literally. He has women lined up for each day of the week except for Sunday, of course. Then Avery Black walks back into his life, the younger sister of his ex-fiancée and also the woman who used to be his best friend. Now she's his new intern and she's pissed to discover he's her new boss.
The attraction between the two is off the charts hot and it doesn't take long for lines to start being crossed. This is a great story with a lot of different aspects woven together so very well and the writing is phenomenal. I love the characters, the plot line, and the pace. Great read and I'm excited for Rachel Van Dyken's next release already!

I love a good cheater book, I think I'm one of the minority; however, this isn't your typical cheater book, but it was still pretty awesome.
After a major mess up the night before his wedding, Lucas spends a while living life with different women, like it's easier that way. That is, until his once friend and sister to his ex walks back into his life.
The chemistry between these two is smoking hot. I enjoyed reading their story.
Another great book from Rachel Van Dyken.

Cheater is a quick witted Rom Com told in dual pov's with great characters, laugh out loud moments and a Frenemy to lovers story.
A lighthearted enjoyable humorous read.
