Hilarious, sexy and delivers all the feels. Lucas and Avery may not like each other, but their chemistry is off the charts! A great redemption story of love and second chances!

I'm a big big fan of Rachel's, And I'm always excited when i get to read one of her books, This was not what i though it would be it was a very great and gripping story, Lucas isn't who you think he is, to me he's just confused and when he sees Avery again everything changes for them both. OK so i hate giving too much away, I will say i couldn't put this down and there were many laughs, I loved every page and would defiantly recommend this as a must read.

If you’re a reader whose hard limit is cheating, don’t be scared away by the title nor the blurb. This story is not what you think it is; it’s actually quite fun and sexy with none of the kind of cheating you think there is. RVD’s brand of humor and playfulness is present as always, and it’s a unique tale of a man and a woman, the most unlikeliest of matches, finding their way to one another.

Cheater details a man made up of his choices–one choice in particular. His consequence for that night plays out daily with his schedule of women. But with the addition of Avery into his life, things become muddled and covered in static. It’s an unusual plot to a love story with these characters mired by the past and what connects them, but it works. The hilarity that ensues from a quick snowball of the situation gets funnier by the moment. Underneath the humor, though, lies the soul-deep connection these two share and I adored the way RVD carried us through their past and present.

I love stories of redemption and of true love, ones that have wry and witty characters, that ultimately show that faults or shortcomings aren’t what make you you. Cheater had all of that and more. I know fans of RVD will love it, and everyone will love Lucas Thorn and the impossible situation he’s in.

This novel was great fun to read, if a bit racy at times. The characters in it were quite dynamic and I enjoyed reading of all their escpades and adventures. Lucas Thorn was an... interesting.... character to say the least. He's introduced as a character you know you want to hate but can't end up hating, despite all of his (many) flaws. And of course I loved Avery, although i felt that the whole extra storyline with Lucas and Avery almost kissing while he was engaged to her sister was kind of awkward and redundant. I think that the storyline would've faired just as well without it and only having a slight hint of the mutual attraction prior to the first scenes of the novel.
Overall, a hilarious, (unexpectedly racy) novel.
Thank you so much to the publisher and to Netgalley for this opportunity.

This was a DNF for me. It wasn't even the "cheating" that I didn't like. I couldn't get past the idea of him being with all three sisters and with their family being okay with it.
Plus the whole love/hate thing going on between Lucas and Avery was too over the top and the way they talked to each other felt very immature.
This book just wasn't for me

3.25 stars--CHEATER is the first installment in Rachel Van Dyken’s contemporary, adult CURIOUS LIAISONS erotic, romance series. This is businessman Lucas Thorn, and PA Avery Black’s story line.

Told from dual first person points of view (Lucas and Avery) CHEATER looks at the tumultuous relationship between Lucas Thorn and Avery Black. Avery’s history with Lucas is a heartbreak of family and friendship. Lucas Thorn was once engaged to Avery’s sister Kayla but the night before their wedding a drunk Lucas was found in bed with Avery’s sister Brooke and the aftermath broke two families and destroyed several friendships that were years in the making. Four years had passed and Avery found herself employed by Lucas Thorn-a man she despised for betraying her family. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between two people who have loved one another for many years.

CHEATER is a story about one man’s fight to move on with his life-a move that furthers his reputation as a manwhore and cheater. Lucas was never in love with Kayla Black but had never intentionally set out to destroy her life. Lucas’s attraction to Avery began years before but the ten-year age difference meant Lucas was more of a big brother than a potential romantic involvement. Now that Avery is Lucas’s assistant his attraction to his ex-fiancee’s sister continues to grow. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive although both keep secret their ongoing affair.

There is plenty of back and forth banter with some over the top (and sometimes funny) but not necessarily believable reactions from the parental units on both sides of the relationship. For those readers who despise ‘cheating’ or ‘infidelity’ in their romance story lines CHEATER is a different take on adulterous relationships with some angst and heartbreak, humor and fun, at the expense of our story line hero. Not everyone or everything is as it seems. The maturity level of all of the characters is questionable; oft-times the juvenile behavior was similar to YA; all of the women in Lucas’s life obviously have issues of low self esteem; the parent’s attitude and emotional reactions were outlandish and caricature-like in presentation- the gynecological appointment so out of this world.

We are introduced to Avery’s sisters: Kayla the betrayed; Brooke the psychotic; and of course Avery’s parents whose acceptance of Lucas is way too enthusiastic. Avery’s best friend Austin Rogers may or may not have a thing for Lucas’s best friend plastic surgeon Thatch Holloway-a man whose own history of ‘cheating’ becomes fodder for Austin Rogers-their story line is next in Cheater’s Regret.

CHEATER is a slow building story line that tries too hard; a look at one man who lives life by his own rules; and one woman who doesn’t want to be another nameless face one night of the week. The premise is imaginative and farcical; the characters are sensational and theatrical. Rachel Van Dyken is a delightful story teller but I had difficulty enjoying her take on the CHEATER.

I think Rachel Van Dyken is incapable of writing a book which I won't fall in love with! Her writing is simply pure genius, she makes me laugh so much but also you feel so much emotion with the characters.

My head kept telling me I shouldn't like the main man Lucas Thorne but I just can't help but love the cheeky, dirty talking, manwhore who manages to get away with having a different woman for each day of the week because he's honest with them!

You know that someone is going to come along and turn his world upside down, you know it's going to be hilarious when it does happen. Add the fact that she's his ex-fiancées sister and well the fun really kicks off. She certainly knows how to push his buttons and the banter between them is simply brilliantly witty.

I loved Avery her wit was brilliant and her love for food honestly had me laughing off my chair. She really knew how to challenge Lucas and I love that she went all out to help him out with his family despite wanting to hate him.

There is one scene in the book that simply had me crying with laughter and almost peeing my pants. Who would have thought a trip to the gynaecologist would be so hilarious and cringe worthy at the same time.

Everything that you could love is in this book. Friends/enemies to Lovers, taboo love from your teenage years coming back to tip your world upside down, and of course completely nutty families.

Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favourite One-Click authors and I can't not wait for the next book in the series to see what she has planned.

Cheater is a hard book for me to review. I love RVD romcoms and hoped that this would be something along the lines of the Consequences books- light, silly, fun, with a touch of heart. It had some fun moments and there are aspects to Cheater that I liked- the witty banter between Lucas and Avery, her snarkiness and sarcasm, and her friendship with Austin. But there were more issues with this book that I really didn’t care for, or understand- particularly how over-the-top and meddling his mother is, why she thought things would magically be repaired between the families if Lucas and Avery got together (this honestly completely perplexed me), and particularly Lucas’s “in your face” attitude when it came to his daily bimbos, even after Avery showed back up in his life. I wasn’t put off by the “cheating” per se, because once you get into the story you’ll understand that a little better, but throwing it in her face, after everything that happened in the past, was hard to accept.

With that said, I definitely felt a connection between Lucas and Avery. There's a lot of shared history with them, so it bothered me how glib, at least on the surface, Lucas was towards her. I did feel bad for him, to a certain extent, because of some of the things that we learn through the book, when it comes to what happened with his engagement to her sister 4 years ago. But my biggest issue, and what really held me back from enjoying this as much as I could have, was Lucas’s age. He’s 32 years old but acts more like he’s in his mid-20s. And honestly, if he had been in his mid-20s I’d have a whole different outlook on this book. It’s hard to get into detail, without giving too much of the storyline away, but I found his actions and the way he dealt with things to be very immature. Avery is 22 and he came across closer to her age instead of a grown man a decade older. I really wish he had been 25, 26, 27 years old. I feel the story would have played out much differently if he had been a younger character, and I would have more than likely really enjoyed it.

Sometimes, as much as you want to love a book it just doesn't happen- and you can't force it. Sadly, this was the case for me and the book just didn't work. I'm a big fan of RVD's so I'll just chalk this up to an anomaly and look forward to what she's got coming up next.

Don't let the title turn you off from this book. I'm not a cheating fan but I absolutely LOVED the last Rachel Van Dyken book I read so this was a no-brainer.

I immediately hated Lucas Thorn. Just reading the blurb, made me hate the manwhore he was. And don't get me wrong, he was one - hello, he had a different girl for 6 days of the week! However, slowly but surely you start to get glimpses of why he is a "cheater" and you speculate A LOT. Fortunately for us, in this book, you find out whyemoji unicode: 263a And over the book, you start to like him and maybe even love him a little bit.

Avery Black has known Thorn for a long time - and hated him for some of it. She really has a valid reason and when he becomes her boss... oh boy.

This book is full of laugh til you're snorting times as well as HOT sexy times and some heart-melting sweetness. Amazing, amazing book 1!

Is it cheating if the women know you have a different woman for each day of the week? Lucas Thorn…always by the full name..doesn’t think so. Once a cheat always a cheat right? I loved watching Lucas grow and break. I loved Avery. Her love of food and quirky young nature was refreshing and so very RVD. The family angst, the fun, the building story of lies. These two really dig themselves in deep. You will love to hate Lucas Thorn!

Lucas will steal your heart and Avery will fill it. Lucas’ faith in love was broken years ago. He created his own grave. But circumstances are never what they appear. A fun filled page turner.

The family, oh geez, the crazy families. Rachel is such a great writer of crazy, crazy family members. Normal just isn't in their vocabulary. A Flirty, 'it can't be love', swoony swoon, roller coaster ride of 'weeee, weeee, weeee all the way home'!

Don’t hold this title against this book. I was hesitant at first to read this book but OMG this was a really good read. The prologue will draw you in immediately and what you think you know, isn’t what is going on at all. It sets the stage for how the book will start off and the emotions that rifle throughout. Note this is an unconventional love story which is a good change that I have been looking for.
Lucas Thorn has a reputation as a cheater—some say its well-deserved, others say this isn’t him at all. But Lucas does whatever he can nowadays to live up to the rep he has of a tomcat. He does make sure the ladies all know the rules before he crawls into bed with a woman and never stays with the same woman twice. He doesn’t want there to be any hurt feelings on anyone’s part. He’s been there before and doesn’t want to go down that road again. He lives alone yet has his hookups..that is his penance for what happened. For what he was unable to fix on that night long ago and his determination to never revisit the past until the past comes back to haunt him in the flesh.

Avery Black is haunted by the memories of that long ago time when she was secretly in love with a man who was supposedly in love with her older sister and a man who was supposedly her friend. Until everything blew up in her face when she caught that guy in a very compromising position with another woman on the night he was supposed to marry her sister. 5 years since all that went down yet now Avery is in a position where she will be working in the internship position for this man, this former best friend and her secret crush. If she only didn’t need this job.
There is so much angst told with a touch of wistfulness to it. There is also a bitter aftertaste of betrayal flavored with heartbreak on both sides. But there is this attraction that flavors the MC interactions. Lucas doesn’t make excuses for what happened and he definitely took ownership for what happened but he never talked to his supposed friend Avery about it at the time and tried to explain and there comes the anguish. For we will never know what could have been for them if Lucas his just tried to speak, to get his feelings across. Avery is one woman you root for and I definitely did so.
This is a fast and easy read. It was one that I much enjoyed= a beautiful 2nd chance romance novel with themes of forgiveness, jealousy, sibling rivalry and love. I am so looking forward for Thatch’s story next.

…this couldn’t happen! Not only because he was my boss.
He literally slept with other women.
ON PURPOSE.
And they knew about it.
Besides, he cheated on my sister!
I knew what he was capable of.
I would not be that girl.

Okay, I’m going to start by saying that I know that this is going to be one of those books that people are either going to love or they’re going to hate. I think there’s going to be very little room for in between with this one. Personally? I loved it! I thought that it was pure RVD goodness and I loved that she took a risk by writing a hero who had such a skewed moral compass and who was a serious manwhore. I’ve read plenty of books with a manwhoring hero, but none of them were quite like Lucas Thorn. I mean, the title pretty much says it all, however, it doesn’t take long to realize that there’s way more beneath the surface and more to the story than Lucas might want you to believe. I loved that RVD was still able to spin this story into a sweet and funny romance and actually make me believe that Lucas was a decent guy who just went to the extreme to try to compensate for an unfortunate incident that basically caused his world to implode a few years earlier.

“The Lucas Thorn effect doesn’t work on me, sorry.”
“It does, you just won’t admit it.”

As the blurb indicates, Lucas Thorn finds himself in a pretty disastrous situation on the night before his wedding. It not only breaks up his engagement but it also tears apart his and his ex-fiancée’s families and earns him the reputation of a cheater. In the years that follows he’s fallen into a mutually beneficial arrangement where he doesn’t commit to any one girl, but rather he secures different women, one for each day of the week. The way he sees it, if they all know about it, it’s not cheating and this way he won’t be allowing anyone to get too close and risk disappointing anyone again. This arrangement is working great for him, until sexy and spunky Avery Black shows up in his office as his new assistant. Once inseparable, Avery has spent the last four years hating Lucas Thorn for breaking his sister’s heart. As much as she tries to make his life a living hell, she can’t fight off the attraction that still sizzles between her and her childhood crush. Avery knows she’d be a fool to let Lucas in again, but the more she’s around him, the harder he is to resist. You know what they say, once a cheater, always a cheater. But can a tiger change his stripes? Could Avery be the one woman who can get the infamous Lucas Thorn to become a one woman man?

I think that RVD shines when she lets loose with the witty banter and over the top antics. If you’re looking for a 100% believable scenario, this might not be for you. But if you’re looking for fun and light and sometimes silly, then you need to check this out. The constant back and forth between Avery and Lucas will have you in stitches and then when you add in their crazy families, be prepared to laugh again and again! This book is a bit of a friends to enemies to friends to lovers story and I loved the animosity between these two that was clearly born out of sexual attraction and eventually love. Throughout all of the silliness, though, there is the whole moral quandary of Lucas’ lifestyle and I really liked how RVD dealt with it and worked through it with these characters. If the “cheating” aspect is making you hesitant to try this book out, I really think you should give it a shot. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading Thatch’s story later this year!

And now?
He held all the power. Lucas Thorn . . . could destroy me.
“Stay.” He brushed a soft kiss across my lower lip. “I want you to stay.”

Let me say this. I hate books about cheating, books that contain cheating and everything along those lines. So I will say, this book is nothing like i expected. I was so wary as like I said above I hate cheating. I trusted in this author because I absolutely love all her work! And that paid off because this book was EPIC!

The hero has issues and as we delve deeper into the book we come to understand him and his attitude a lot. The heroine also has issues that mainly revolve around her hate for the hero lol.

Throughout the whole book we can literally feel the connection between these two characters, they have so much chemistry and sexual tension I think we all felt it. The plot was original and kept me hooked beginning to end and has left me gagging for the next in the series. This author is and probably will always be and automatic buy for me!

Cheating…..it’s never pretty. It destroys the lives of so many people that are involved. For Lucas Thorn – his cheating ways lead to the end of a soon-to-be marriage. To make matters worse, Lucas woke up in the bed of his fiancée’s sister. Talk about awkward moments.

Stained by the defining moment from his past, Lucas now has a sort of revolving door where his dating life is concerned. A different lady graces his presence each day of the week on a revolving schedule. Many would find this deplorable. However – Lucas looks at it as you can’t cheat when all parties know about one another. Right? If only it were that simple…..

After a lay-off, Avery Black finds herself back in an intern position. The bottom of the totem pole in the business world. What she could not have prepared for was discovering her boss was none other than the ‘cheater’ that destroyed her entire family when he slept with both of her sisters. Avery should be furious when she realizes that she will answer to the one person that makes her want to flee from what is ‘right’.

Avery always had a soft spot for Lucas. Well – one might say she even harbored a strong crush on the man that should have been married to her sister. Now – Avery is faced with that same attraction that she felt as a teen for the man that was never hers. With the string of women that revolve in Lucas’ life, Avery discovers that maybe her feelings for Lucas weren’t so innocent after all. The only question is what is she going to do about it?

Knowing how much Rachel Van Dyken puts into creative story plots, I just couldn’t wait to unravel what she had in store for readers with Cheater. With a title like that….I knew it would be full of delicious and juicy moments. I definitely wasn’t disappointed.

Don’t expect a ‘typical’ story about cheating in the book. Rachel pulls out all the stops and gives us a story riddles with a forbidden romance, and some seriously hilarious laugh out loud moments. Each more captivating than the next. There were so many times I just busted out laughing at the craziness that is Lucas Thorn!! Avery and Lucas find themselves in so many situations that are hard to believe, yet I found myself saying ‘can you imagine’ over and over again. I loved the chemistry between Avery and Lucas, and was rooting for them throughout the entire book!!

I loved Cheater!

Lucas Thorn is a cheater. And he owns it. He has a girl for each day of the week, except for Sundays, and they all know about each other. Because, according to Lucas, as long as they know about each other, it isn't exactly cheating. That's Lucas life until Avery Black becomes his new assistant. Avery, the youngest sister of his ex-fiancée.
Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for what he did. Not only to her sister, but to her and their families. So, why not make his life a living hell while working for him?
But the real question is: what happened between Avery and Lucas in the past?

Cheater is a fantastic read. It hooked me from the first page! It's a funny and sexy story, full of emotion and drama. All the questions about what happened between Lucas and Avery, why he became a cheater... I couldn't stop reading! I loved the banter between Lucas and Avery. It was hilarious and made me laugh a lot. And the chemistry between them? Off the charts!
I loved that the story was told from Avery's and Lucas's POVs and the flashbacks to what happened in the past.

Lucas Thorn is a cheater. He used to be the perfect guy. He was the quarterback, had the perfect grades, and had the perfect girlfriend. Until the day he cheated. Everything changed for him. Now he owns being a cheater. But deep down he's a good guy who let the pressure beat him and made very wrong decisions. At times I wanted to smack him but other times he made me swoon. Loved him!
Avery Black is the youngest of three sisters. She always thought she wasn't as perfect as her sisters, especially Kayla, Lucas's girlfriend and then fiancée. She always had a crush for Lucas, but he broke her heart when he cheated on her sister and destroyed the relationship between the Thorn and Black families. She's very funny and smart, with a sharp tongue. I loved that she wasn't afraid to go toe to toe with Lucas.

Rachel Van Dyken did an amazing job with Cheater! Cheater is a funny and sexy book, with an awesome story and great characters. It's an easy and fast read that will hook you from the first page and Rachel's writing style makes it easy to connect with the story and the characters. I can't wait to read Austin and Thatch's story in Cheater's Regret!

This one was hilarious! I totally wasn't expecting to love this one like I did. I had a different expectation of what this book was going to be about.
It was such a cute and funny read.

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it doesafford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

This is one of those books that could turn a reader off by the title but I loved it! With the: humorous dialogue and the awesome characters, even when you want to hate Lucas. I love everything RVD writes and can't wainfor more!

Cheater is not what you think. So if you are put off by cheating, don't worry; you will enjoy this book! Cheater is a fun, riveting romantic comedy that had me laughing frequently. I love the way this author can make the most mundane experiences, like a trip to the gynecologist, an unforgettable experience filled with hilarity!

Lucas Thorn is a VP at a tutoring/educational company. Avery is his new intern and the younger sister of his ex-fiancé. Avery still hates Lucas for cheating on her sister the night before the wedding, especially since Avery worshiped and looked up to Lucas for years. And she doesn't even know yet that he keeps a different girl for each day of the week. What could possibly go wrong?

I loved Avery from the start. She's feisty, loud, and constantly puts Lucas in his place. Also, Avery loves to eat, just like me. I had mixed feelings about Lucas at first. I didn't hate him, which I thought I might. I just got frustrated with him at times. And the two of them together? I nearly threw my Kindle a few times out of exasperation at how dense they were being! But I will admit that by the end I loved both Avery and Lucas. Both of them are flawed. Their relationship is flawed. But they are so perfect together.

The plot was steady and full of laughs. I read it straight through until my eyes went blurry. Then I got up early and began reading again. I just had to see how Cheater would play out.

This was not my first book by Rachel Van Dyken, and it certainly won't be my last. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, to find out what is going on with Austin and Thatch!

Lucas has been branded as a “cheater” so he’s embraced it fully. He has a different girl for every day of the week. He’s also Avery’s worst nightmare. Avery has lost her job and finally landed an internship. What she didn’t realize is she’s working for Lucas “Satan” Thorn. How will she survive being near her sister’s cheating ex-fiancé? Or as she has tried to forget, her secret crush?

“‘Lucas, as much as I’d like to shove our history up your ass and light you on fire, I can’t, you know, because I wouldn’t survive prison, and they don’t have Starbucks there…But four years is a long time. I’ve changed.’ I sighed. ‘I mean, both of us have. I’m a mildly successful college graduate discovering what I want to do with my life, paying my own electricity bill and you’ – I pointed to him – ‘you…’

‘I what?’

He took a long sip of coffee. I didn’t wait for him to swallow.

‘You’re a lying, cheating whore.’ I said it sweetly, even batted my eyes at him. That made it better, right?”

Yeah...I loved it! So funny and awkward and sexy. Avery is just a foodie mess. You want forgiveness? Just offer her a pastry or Thai food. Lucas Thorn...I don't know how anyone could resist this sex on a stick. I loved all of the sister wives jokes and how feisty Avery was trying to ignore her feelings for Satan. The entire story was just so entertaining and fun to read. So many of the misunderstandings by his crazy parents really cracked me up. Talk about “shipping” a couple! His parents are the ultimate shippers! I couldn’t put this book down except to burst out laugh or shuddering at something they did.

If you love funny and crazy stories, you'll adore this quirky romance. Although it’s called “Cheater”, I kind of agree with Lucas. It’s not cheating if they know about each other. Don’t blame the player…
