At first I was a little turned off by who the heroine is, because of how she is connected to his past. However loving Rachel's books like I do, I knew she would turn it into something amazing. And of course she did!! I found myself loving the heroine, even cheering her on. I loved everything about her, the way she does not take it easy on Lucas, but still tries to help him so others don't think poorly of him. Lucas is a bit different, there is actually so much more to him than what he portrays. By the end I actually love him as well! This book was definitely not what I expected, it was so much better! It was one of those books that had your emotions all over. It had me laughing many times, parts made me sad, a few times I even got mad at some of the characters. You find yourself wondering what made Lucas the way he was and could he ever change, or at least I was. I am so glad I read this book. It is a reminder that usually there is a reason people act the way they do and most importantly that true love wins in the end!! Great read, looking forward to Thatch's story in the next book!!

Likable characters and hot sexy times made this a fun read. I have some doubts about the believability of the storyline, but enjoyed the read anyway.

Lucas Thorne was labeled a cheater the night before his wedding. Rather than fighting the reputation, he embraced it, seeking to fill his weekly social calendar with a lady friend for each night, with no commitments and no expectations. He hasn’t faced the events that labeled him a cheater since the night they happened, but he is forced to face his past when Avery Black, the youngest sister of his ex-fiance, is assigned as his new administrative assistant.

Avery Black hasn’t forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister, and would have turned down the job if she had known she would be working for him, or if she wasn’t in jeopardy of losing her apartment and having to move back home with her parents again.

These two could banter like no other. Though they did not meet again in the workplace on purpose, their history means Avery has a chip on her shoulder about the last time they saw each other. The barbs they throw at each other made it hard to find the attraction underneath the banter, until they started admitting to the feelings themselves. It was also hard to find the companionship they used to feel for each other because of the hurt from the past. He is described as once being her best friend, so I had a hard time believing she wouldn’t have given him the time to explain himself at the time.

There is no actual cheating, at least not in the typical sense. In fact, Lucas spends a lot of time justifying why what he does is NOT cheating. He is given grief for his practice of having a woman scheduled for each night of the week. I didn’t have as hard a time accepting this aspect of his life as I thought I would. I didn’t necessarily *like* it, but based on his history, it made sense that he would keep his relationships at arm's length as much as possible.

This was a fun, entertaining hate to love story as Avery and Lucas face each other, their pasts, and their mistakes together. There is plenty of sarcasm and humor as they navigate their present work relationship and Lucas works to repair their previous friendship. In the background of this book, Lucas and Avery’s best friends have some kind of hook-up that leads to a blow up. Their follow-up story, Cheater’s Regret, promises a similar vein of spark and drama.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book took a little bit of time for me to warm up to, but in typical Rachel Van Dyken fashion, she eventually hooks me in and I can't put it down. I can't explain my attraction to this book, while I didn't experience many laugh out loud moments, I didn't want to put it down. I think I was fascinated with this taboo story line. I mean it takes a special author with some balls to write an entire story centered around a cheater, and Rachel does it with easy and a well practiced mastery.

I was captivated by Lucas, I wanted to be in his head, and know what made him tick. Avery was a spit fire and I loved the absolute chaos that ensued when they are reunited. The secondary characters are absolutely, over-the-top ridiculous, and made the story so much better. I really like how unique and different the story was, it was a refreshing POV, regardless of the story line. Lucas really grew over the course of the story and while I am not sure he is a changed man, I have high hopes. I was also cheering when a certain character got punched in the face. Some characters are so awful you can't help but be satisfied when karma rolls around.

Overall, this book has me very hopeful for the second one. While it wasn't the insta-love I usually experience when reading a Rachel Van Dyken novel, I did enjoy the interesting story line and the different POVs. I am feeling confident that the next book will far exceed this one.

This was my first Rachel Van Dyken so I didn't know what to expect from it except that I had been hearing some really good things about it. Let me tell you that this was such a great surprise and I loved it!! It was just so funny and I just loved the characters and their connection.

This book might look a little bit weird because first of all the book is called Cheater and we know that Lucas cheated on his fiancée and will get involved with the ex-fiancée sister but it's not weird because it was explained so well and everything was done in such a great way that it made everything better. I loved the story. I loved the fact that even thought Lucas and Avery have a big age gap they still had a connection while growing up and before he messed everything up. I loved Avery and Lucas not only together but also individually. Avery was such a great girl. She knew what she wanted and did everything she could to have her own life and live on her own. Lucas was so damaged and while he might had a weird lifestyle I still loved him a lot and I loved to see him realizing that he wanted something else. And don't even make me talk about these two together because their connection wasn't just physical. They also bonded a lot, especially when they were younger, and had a deep connection that made me love them even more together.

As I said, this was my first Rachel Van Dyken book but I'm already obsessed with her writing. It was super funny and I loved it. This book was told in a dual POV, which I love, but it also had some flashbacks that were amazing because it let us learn more about their past, what happened and how everything started. My only problem with this book was the time span. The book is set in only two weeks which makes everything look too fast.

Overall, I loved this book. It was hilarious and intense and I loved everything about it. I 100% recommend this one to everyone because it's such an awesome read.

Another hilarious winner from Rachel Van Dyken! Lucas and Avery's relationship is complicated, today the least. She wishes she could hate him for his cheating ways, but she can't help but love him. Their banter is hilarious, sexual tension is fierce and their story is sweet. You'll never look at a cheater the same way.

Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favorite authors - she can write about anything, in any genre, and make a good and enjoyable storyline out of it.

This book is no exception - what you need to be able to do is overlook the title and get over the fact that Lucas Thorn is labelled as a manwhore and a cheater, having a different girl on his arm everyday except on Sundays - even this isn't what it seems when you find out about the girls, its not all sex and wham bam thank you Ma'am!

The real point of the book is finding out why he is the way he is. There is a cause, and this is the effect. Sh*t happens.

Lucas has been dating a girl since school, it happens to be one sister in a family that his family have grown up with since being little. He knows the whole family, and they know him. Before he knows it they are engaged, as expected of them, but happy and in love?? Lucas spends more time with a younger sister who is his best friend, who he realises he is in love with. Can he go on and marry the wrong sister?? He ends up making a huge mistake (but not really his fault) and then the sh*t hits the fan.

From now on he doesn't do relationships, he has arrangements, which all the girls are fully aware of. Until the little sister, Avery, turns up working for him in his office. She is being forced to take this job because she needs a review, but she despises him for everything that has happened, all the while unable to turn off the chemistry and love her body harbors for him. They end up trying to fake a relationship in order for their family's to get back together again. But the lines start to blur as the attraction takes hold.

This was a really good read!! Avery is a spitfire with wit and sass and totally adorable. The lines she comes out with had me laughing out loud many times. Lucas is not what you think he is, and I really felt for him. We all make mistakes, its how you pick yourself up and move on with life that counts.

Sometimes you just want a fun story to waste a day reading! Cheater was the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon. After being found drunk and in the bed of the wrong sister the night before his wedding Lucas Thorn has resigned to the life of a cheater. A different girl everyday, only they all know that they are not the only one and that it is just sex. Enter Avery Black, youngest sister to his scorned ex-fiancée and his old best friend. She is his new intern and he is her boss. Nothing about their relation says that they should be more than enemies that work together but they can't seem to escape the lingering feelings they have for one another.

'Cheaters aren't born, they're made. Never Forget that.'

Cheater was absolutely hilarious, the gyno scene alone had me laughing so loud I almost woke the kids and add in his parents openness about sex and the giggles never ended. But beneath all the humor was a tur enemies to loves love story that made me swoon. Rachel never fails to give a well written book but also delivered on a heavy dose of steam and laughs this time too!

Avery and Lucas have history. Avery hates him. Lucas has feelings. And we know about that fine line! Love, laugh and cry. This has it all! I love the story! I love the characters! I can't wait for the next book! I give this book 5 stars and a strong recommendation!

4.5☆
The Lucas Thorn is quite the interesting manwhore. The story starts saying you probably won't like him and he's a cheater. I honestly liked him through out the whole thing, manwhore-ness and all.
I really liked the story line of his and Avery's relationship. Their story is unlike any other I have read. There was plenty of humor too, there were several times I laughed out loud! The two of them manage to find themselves in some awkward situations, granted some is quite extreme.
I really liked how their relationship developed, it flowed well and was fun. They have great banter and a good love/hate thing going on. I enjoyed them trying to figure out what was going in with their relationship. It was fun to learn all the details of the past and how that played out in the present.
I loved how much development there was to Lucas's character. He has a lot more going on than what's on the surface. I loved him by the end of the book and I love the sweet side to him! I think they are such a good match and I loved reading them trying to find their happy ending.

If you haven't been scared off by the title of this book and you're a fan of Rachel Van Dyken's comedic talent, then I think it's safe to say you'll likely enjoy this book. The only reason I even gave a title like this a chance was because of who the author is. I absolutely love romantic comedies and I know the title and blurb can be misleading. I hate cheating. I don't want to read it in my books but even I can admit that I can get past some blurred lines depending on situations.

If you want to know if there is cheating, it's not a cut and dry answer. The famous cheating line "It's not what you think" can be said here. Things are implied that didn't happen but Lucas still goes on a path that many will not like or enjoy reading. I didn't enjoy some of it and had moments were I felt he was acting like a douche and his excuses were weak. However, I never felt he actually cheated. Lucas and Avery are not a couple through most of this book but the feelings are there. This will be enough to bother some readers and it's best if you skip this book.

Rachel's talent to write fun, whitty banter is present in this story. Despite the moments I wanted to slap Lucas, I really enjoyed these two together and it didn't detract from my love of watching these two spark. Besides, Avery slapped him for me on several occasions. :) ARC provided by NetGalley.

Lucas Thorne is a man-whore, who believes that as long as all of the women he sleeps with (he has a different woman for every day of the week) knows about each other, then it isn't cheating. He loves his life and sees nothing wrong with sharing the love. He does have regrets, but hides them from everyone. His main regret is tearing his family apart and ruining their longstanding relationship with the family that he was supposed to become a member of years ago. The night before the biggest night of his life will forever be burned into his memory-he didn't mean to sleep with his fiancee's sister, he didn't even really like the sister. Not that sister at least.
Avery, Lucas' ex-fiancees younger sister, is trying to make something of her life. She doesn't want to move back home with her parents and finally gets a job. Unfortunately, her new boss is no other than her ex-best friend and the ex-fiancee of her sister. She has hated him for years-ever since he slept with the wrong sister. But, looks can be deceiving and the reason she hates him isn't what you would think.
This book was told from both points of view and from both time frames. Most of the book was in the present, but there were snippets of the past and you realized that the reason Avery hated Lucas wasn't because he cheated on her sister, it was because she loved Lucas-even though it was wrong, because he was engaged to her sister-and she was upset that he slept with her other sister when she thought that he loved her. You also learn, that he did love Avery, got drunk, and thought he was in Avery's room to confess to her how he felt.
Can two people who were as close as brother and sister and loved each other at one time find their way back to each other? How would Lucas' ex and her family take the news of them being together? When Avery and Lucas start pretending to be a couple (not something that either would admit they wanted to be real), will sparks fly? Can they find a way to be happy? Let go of the past? Not hurt their loved ones anymore than they have?
Pick up Cheater and feel your heart being torn out and being pieced back together as you find out if Avery and Lucas can find happiness, or if Lucas will always be a cheater.
I received an ARC, via NetGalley and have willingly read and reviewed.

Lucas Thorn is an ass and Avery is hysterical! He used to think of her as his little sister, until he didn't. He was going to marry her sister, until he wasn't. Now she's working for him and he literally has a different woman every day and/or night of the week, except Sunday. He's labelled a cheater, but all the women know the score. This story, the characters, and the situations are amazingly funny. I wasn't sure I'd be able to look past the sister aspect, or the man whore cheater aspect, but I took it for what it was, which was a laugh out loud light hearted story, and really enjoyed it.

What a crazy and unique story of friends, family and calendars..... Loved the crazy banter between the main couple, and then you realize that their parents, even though are deemed crazy, have a long lasting relationship because of all their quirks. So many funny lines in this story...one of my favorites is:......... "because when I looked at her, I remembered the way her mouth tasted— and that would encourage me to throw the girl over the table and screw her senseless in front of my parents. Hell, my mom would probably cheer us on and make sure that we forgot a condom. She’d make signs that read “Grandchildren Under Construction” and paint her face like she was at one of my old football games." Seriously, everyone need to read this book!

Rachel can do no wrong! This book is funny! So very very funny and LUCAS THORN.

Another Fantastic read from the amazing Rachel Van Dyken! Cheater is the story of Avery Black, who after losing her job ends up working as an intern for her sister's ex-fiance Lucas Thorn, who pulled out of the wedding the night before after being caught in a compromising situation with the 3rd sister Brooke. This is turn destroyed both families and broke friendships.

Lucas Thorn is a serial womaniser, who now has a different woman for every night of the week (except Sundays). Avery has no choice but to continue to work for Thorn despite her hatred for him. However, it doesn't take long for Avery to see a different side to Lucas and to find out why he acts the way he does.

This book was brilliant! I absolutely loved Avery! She was a great character and felt so real, especially with her love of food! I loved the way that RVD slowly peeled back the layers of the past, slowly giving readers a glimpse of the back story between Avery and Lucas and their relationship.

I do have to say though that I totally agree with Lucas on the subject of cheating! The other girls were aware of each other and they were not exclusively in relationships, so it's not really cheating and just sex.

Looking forward to the next book in the series!

***4 Lucas Thorn Stars***

I almost passed this one up because, as with most people, I wondered how a cheater could be redeemed since most of the time there is no good reason for it, even if you understand why the person felt the need to cheat. But then I read the blurb and something just grabbed me and I figured, Why the hell not? And whadda you know? I thoroughly enjoyed this RomCom. Though there were some things that were just too over the top for even me, I found Cheater to be a funny, sweet, smexy and even heartwarming journey.

I’m putting this here so we have a clear definition of what it means to cheat ~ just for reference sake.

Definition of Cheat:

1a : to practice fraud or trickery <denied the accusation that he cheated>
b : to violate rules dishonestly <cheat at cards> <cheating on a test>
2: to be sexually unfaithful —usually used with on <was cheating on his wife>
I loved Lucas Thorn (did ya see I used his full name ;) ) And quite honestly didn’t see him as a cheater, at least not as defined above, the man was a true manwhore and I know that there will be a great debate on that, but if I’m not supposed slut shame a woman for being sexually open and prefer to have multiple partners, then I’m definitely not going to do it to a man. Lucas has rules and he sticks to them. They may seem callous on the surface, but he has his reasons and I honestly appreciated them because underneath it all was a man who, yes liked variety, but also cared about those women and to me that was the important thing and what endeared me to him because he really did have a huge heart, but didn’t know what to do with it. As for his “cheating”, not his best moment, but there is so much more to and I felt my heart bleed just a little for him.
Avery is a spitfire and I spent half the book loving her for it and the other half wanting to slap duct tape over her mouth. The girl seriously has verbal vomiting skills to rival my own. But beneath all of that sass and snark is a girl with insecurities brought on by years of being made to feel second best by those who were supposed to love her the most, well not all of them, but enough that she simply wants to show everyone that she can stand on her own two feet. That determination combined with her huge heart and snarky mouth had me loving her.
Holy sparks flying all over the damn place. Lucas and Avery were nuclear together in every way possible, which was an amazing thing and a painful thing all that the same time. How can that be you ask? Simple. As their past is revealed you start to understand what their relationship was and why the hurt runs so deep ~ on both sides ~ and it makes you root for them while questioning if they can truly navigate their way around the sink holes in their journey and not only forgive but be absolutely honest with each other. If of course happens, but not without the “help” and believe me I use this term loosely, of some crazy ass characters, and I have to say that I loved how things ended up with them.
The funny thing about this book is that I know that people are going to be divided on it for one reason or another, as can already be seen by the early reviews, and that’s all good. Your opinion is your own. The funny thing is I had no issue with the whole cheating/manwhore thing nor with the issue falling in love with your ex-fiance’s baby sister, my biggest issue was the over the top antics of some of the characters. This is RomCom and Ms. Van Dyken did well, hands down, but some of the things I had to do a bit of speed reading because it hurt my head ~ “Are you fucking kidding me?” popped out of my mouth a few times (Which in all honesty can be looked at as a good thing since I did react) But outside of the crazy, which there is a lot of, I enjoyed the story and the characters, one I want to gut with a spoon even as it makes me giggle a bit that we share the same name, and am looking forward to what the next book will bring us.

Cheater. Curious Liaisons #1 by Rachel Van Dyken. "Lucas Thorn," said in my most breathiest voice. My what a tangled web you weave. Engaged to one sister, almost slept with one sister, and fell in love with another sister. "Cheaters aren't born, they are made." Keep this in mind while you read this book. I might get some flak for this review, but is anyone going to take Thorn's side? Anyone? Honestly, I disliked his character at the beginning, but throughout the book, the author does a wonderful job of reflecting back on his past and giving us insight into his character as to why he is unable to commit to just one woman. "It's not cheating if they all know." Lucas Thorn is unable to commit to one woman because he is in love with Avery. (Stay with me here). Has been in love with her for a while. He's made mistakes of epic proportions and he owns up to his flaws and transgressions to be the man that she needs. It's a bumpy and winding road full of humor, sarcasm, and redemption. This book isn't a dramatic, angst inducing read with complicated love triangles. It is however, an entertaining contemporary romance bordering on romantic comedy and can be read as a stand alone. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you've enjoyed other book by this author, give this one a chance.

I wanted to love this book. I love the author, the blurb sounded great, but unfortunately it just didn't work for me. I disliked Avery from the start, and never changed my mind about her. She was immature, and quite honestly a little b*tch. She was so superior and pompous, but her behavior was horrible. And then she refuses to take responsibility for any of the fallout, but she is the whole reason they end up in the predicament. Drove me batty. And he's all oh well, this is what you deserve. Grow a backbone! Just didn't work for me.
