Really tried to stick to this book but after 150 pages gave up. Too much of going nowhere.

When Jamie is accused of raping Beth, Laura and Kit come to her aid. But in the years to come, Laura's lie on the witness stand haunts her. Jamie sends threatening mail from prison and Laura is powerless to prevent her life, Kit's, and their unborn twins lives from spinning out of control. This is a great mystery with a few twists that will keep you guessing. Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Just as there are different phases in an eclipse, so are there different phases to this book!
Eclipse chasers Kit and Laura are set to experience their first eclipse together at one of many festivals held around the world. For the couple this will be the adventure of a lifetime, special memories to be shared between them both. Perhaps even some day with their children. (If they make it that far). Instead, what they witness will change their lives forever.
Told from both Kit and Laura's p.o.v, the story incorporates two separate time-lines. Present day and 15 years earlier, when everything began spiraling out of control. Sounds a bit complicated, but as the book progresses things begin falling into place.
Cleverly composed, it is divided into sections that parallel the different phases of an eclipse. So in keeping with that theme I’ll to divide my review into 2 separate parts.
1st half: Started a little long-winded and never quite held my attention. A great premise, but it didn't feel like it had either focus or direction. I had a hard time relating to the characters, wondering if I’d actually be able to finish it.
2nd half: literally half-way through, gratefully, things took a 180 degree turn and was finally off and running. I was rewarded for my patience! The suspense dialed up and I couldn't put it down. Suddenly there were curves I never saw coming. (Actually gasped twice!)
Sorry to say I can't reveal much more about the story-line without giving it away. Just know there are many sides to a story. Don’t forget – what may first appear straightforward may be anything but…

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Erin Kelly for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've got to say, this book did not play out at all the way I expected it too. Nonetheless, it had an intriguing plot.

And it was the plot that carried this book. I found it really hard to get into the story and to care about the characters. While I eventually became intrigued by the court case, I never really related to the characters at all. I couldn't understand their decisions and I struggled to see things from their perspective. The book mainly centres around a rape case.

Kit and Laura's love was very sweet but very intense. I appreciated it for the perspective it brought; however, they were incredibly judgemental and I found it hard to really care for them. I didn't comprehend the complete and utter terror they had, their fear to the point of crippling anxiety, even after the ultimate reveal. This could have worked with more setup or perhaps if I'd suspended my disbelief more, but while some incidents did happen, I expected a lot more horrible things to have occurred to have completely altered the way they lived their lives.

The final twist itself was pretty great, almost enough to carry the entire book, but the ending itself was incredibly strange and not really what I expected from those characters.

The most accurate portrayal in this book seemed to be of the rape case itself. I was intrigued by how all of the players were set up and by the ultimate results, which dealt with a very real world topic.

Ultimately, though this book didn't quite draw me in, plot was great and the twist was surprising, and I recommend this to those who enjoy thrillers.

Simply riveting, an absolute page turner whose structure and expert pacing will keep you perched on the edge of your seat. Erin Kelly's deft, empathetic characterization will leave you pondering this harrowing, thought-provoking story about the power of love and the danger of lies. Unexpected revelations throughout and I absolutely loved it, this book needs to be a movie!

He Said, She Said is absolutely riveting! Erin Kelly has created a tightly-plotted, suspenseful psychological thriller with three-dimensional characters you will care about and remember long after you are done reading. In fact, this is a book that will stay with you for days after you've finished. I pride myself on seeing plot twists coming, but I could not predict one single thing that happened in this book. I was shocked and surprised over and over again. Simply brilliant.

Kit and Laura are young and in love the summer of 1999. They are going to see a total eclipse of the sun in Cornwall and hang out at a festival there. Just before light returns after the eclipse, Laura sees a man and woman together and she sees the man do something terrible. The man says it never happened, his victim is pathetically grateful. But what did Laura really see and did she believe the wrong person? Fifteen years later, Kit and Laura have new identities and are living a life “off the grid”. They don’t even own a cell phone. They may think they have escaped their past, but they’re wrong, it’s about to come roaring back….with a vengeance. I LOVED this book. It kept me on tenterhooks the entire way, I never knew what would happen next. Expect this book to be HUGE
