I always enjoy the chance to read a Buzz Books book as it allows me to read excerpts of many books being published in the coming months, helping me to decide which ones I want to put on my reading list. As expected, this book of excerpts showed me several books that I'd like to read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for enabling me to read this edition of Buzz Books!

The Buzz Books 2017: Young Adult Spring/Summer was a great sampling of many books that are anticipated for release in the coming months. Each excerpt is approximately a chapter, with some being much longer. In particular, the excerpts I enjoyed the most included Roar by Cora Carmack, Spirit Quest by Jennifer Frick-Ruppert, Geekerella by Ashley Poston, The End of our Story by Meg Haston, and Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh.

Renee Ahdieh is one of my favorite writers thanks to her duology The Wrath and the Dawn, so naturally I was incredibly excited to see her new book excerpt as the FIRST excerpt in the book. The Flame in the Mist is set in Japan and opens with a back story involving samurai, followed by a first chapter that highlights a journey of a young woman on her way to an arranged marriage. The setting is detailed, dark and atmospheric. I cannot wait to read the rest of it!

The second big winner for me is Roar by Cora Carmack. I have never read any of her numerous previous works, however I have heard her name several times before. I did not know what to expect, and far as I'm aware, this is her first fantasy genre book. Aside from the cover being absolutely stunning, the story itself engages you right away. We get a taste of the heaviness of Aurora's character, the crossroads that she is standing upon, the weight of her family duty, and the uniquely interesting world of magic and storms that threatens the lives of her people. If for only this sample, the whole Buzz Books 2017 was worth reading. I look forward to picking up several of these books this year!

I loved reading the except of "Dividing Eden". I hope Charbonneau decides to open it to NetGalley first, but even if not, It's on my TBR list for 2017!

I had never heard of or had read any of the Buzz Books before but was intrigued by the link on the main page of NetGalley and so took a look. The young adult titles in this volume were very a very diverse mix. I am glad to have picked up a copy. I particularly loved the formatting of blurbs, excerpts, and then more technical information. One of the best things about being a reader are all of the recommendations I receive from sources like NetGalley and Buzz Books. It definitely helps expand my reading horizons. Looking forward to reading more of these.

These samplers are the perfect way to cull your over the top TBR pile. You get a taste of what is coming and then can make a request to get more. I recommend this to any reader who has a bigger stack of books than they can get through.

Buzz books are just like a box of chocolates, you open it and you can smell the wonderful aroma and they all look so good that you don't know which one to pick. My advice: pick them all. All the excerpts in this 2017 Young Adult Spring /Summer novel will appeal to many types of readers. There's fantasy, love, hatred, fights, and even comics.
If I had to choose one to start with, I would choose Rebels Like Us by Liz Reinhardt. In this novel the author deals with the unthinkable idea of a segregated prom in a rural community and a girl who has to face the fact that being half black is still a problem in some parts of her country.
