There are some authors who will forever be your favorite and you will read them through genre re-inventions and spurts. I loved this book it was classic Nora.

I always enjoy reading Nora Roberts, but honestly this book I just had to put down. Don't get me wrong, we all have different tastes, so please don't let this stop you from trying this book! I will definitely read more of Nora Roberts, I just tried the first few chapters and just couldn't get into this one. Sometimes it happens, sadly.

Come Sundown had me at the edge of my seat, wanting to know what was going to happen next.

The family ranch and resort is the setting for this family drama and mystery with a missing woman. ARC from Net Galley.

A great novel full of suspense. Family secrets will be revealed that lead to murder. Bodine Longbow runs a family ranch that goes back four generations. When a battered woman's body is discovered Bo turns to new hire Callen Skinner for help. A family mystery will be solved when a long, lost family member is discovered who was presumed dead.

I loved the real characters. I was captivated by the description of the Montana resort. I never thought of it before, but it made me want to visit even though I am not a dude ranch kind of girl. The book wasn't wildly action-packed, but I couldn't put it down, I had to know what was going to happen next.

I really liked "Come Sundown" by Nora Roberts. Her characters were very likeable and the story held my interest. The evil conveyed in the Sir character made me hate him. It is written with intense feelings for the victim. Also, the ending has an interesting twist, leaving me wondering why I didn't see it coming.

The Bodine Ranch and Resort in western Montana has been a family endeavor for many over the years and business has been booming ever since Bodine Longbow has taken the helm. Bodine commands the respect of her employees, but she works hard and they take their cues from her. Their quiet peace is shattered when one of their bartenders is found dead in the snow. Even though one of the cops have zeroed in on the newly returned Callen Skinner, Bodine knows that he is innocent. Tensions in the area heat up with Bodine's long lost aunt is found wandering along a dark road. Alice Bodine was gone for decades and many thought that she had just abandoned the family and the ranch. When in reality she was on her way home more than twenty years ago when a man kidnapped her and has kept her hostage all of these years. The one quiet and idyllic ranch is now on edge as they try to figure out who took Alice and who is targeting the women of the ranch. Will they be able to catch the madman before he takes what he wants again?

Come Sundown was not my favorite read of the year, but it was okay. I thought that certain aspects of the story were fairly predictable, even for Nora Roberts. I thought the most engrossing part of the story was Alice - her capture, her life with Sir, and her escape. Her reintegration into the Bodine family was handled well from a few different angles, and it was what kept me reading. As you would expect, Bodine and Callen ended up in a steamy relationship. Totally predictable, but that was okay. In the end, they got the bad guy, but not before an attempt on yet another Bodine woman. All the loose ends were tied up neatly and I appreciated it.

Bottom line - Even though I did not enjoy Come Sundown as much as I have her other recent novels, I did stick it out and read the whole book. There was mystery, intrigue, and of course those steamy scenes that have made Nora Roberts a bestselling author.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Nora Roberts’ newest release.
Readers of Nora Roberts’ novels anticipate a new title each summer. Whether that new title is part of a new romance series or a standalone romantic suspense novel, it is always near the top of many readers’ Summer Reading Lists. I must admit it was very high on mine this year.
Come Sundown, a standalone title, features the story of Bodine Longbow, manager of her family’s Montana resort/ranch. Struggling to keep the business going after several employees unexpectedly leave the ranch, Bodine begins working with her brother’s best friend and her former teenage crush, Callen Skinner.
There are family dynamics, several romances, a shooting, and the murders of two local women. It also includes the back story of Bodine’s Aunt Alice’s kidnapping, rape and brutal treatment by a madman.
I must admit that I did not enjoy this story. I do not consider descriptions of a brutal kidnapping and decades of repeated rape with mental/physical torture of a woman to be part of a romantic suspense story. Alice’s pain overshadowed any joy or happiness that the other characters in the book were experiencing.
Readers of darker romantic suspense titles might like this one but I would recommend some of Nora Robert’s earlier titles to anyone who wants a good romantic read.

This was a typical Nora Roberts Suspenseful Romance. It was a little to detail oriented with the day to day lives of the main characters but the suspense story line was interesting. As always, looking forward to her next book.

While I did enjoy this book, I felt like this had the potential of being a trilogy.

*Thanks to NetGalley for a digital copy of this book!*

This is a normal, traditional Nora Roberts book, which I haven't read in a while. It has the expected themes of suspense and romance. Her characters are well developed, with realistic interactions and emotions. This is a standalone novel. At the center of the plot is a strong family.
The plot of the book is not just a prop for the romance. The parts about Alice were descriptive and her reintegration into the family dealt with the types of issues that would be present in that situation. I would actually have liked a little more romance. I would have liked the relationship between Bo and Cal to have been more deeply developed.
I think there was too much detail about the actual running of the business. This was not interesting and didn't help in developing the plot. During these times, I felt that the book was running long.

Nora Roberts at her suspenseful best! Come Sundown was a little different from previous books I've read of Roberts due to the interspersion of Alice Bodine's captivity segments. A wonderful cast of characters.

Really enjoyed this one, but knew I would because it's Nora Roberts!

A guilty pleasure! A little too long, could have been more tightly written, but an entertaining interlude in the rush of life. I hadn't read a Nora Roberts in years but this one seems to delve into more serious matters than the ones I have read. I loved that it was a stand alone amidst all of the series this author has written. There is much fodder present to spin into a series but the novel covered lots of ground and included many people and doesn't create a need in the reader for another.

All about love and family with murder and torture and suspense thrown in. Finely developed characters that are interesting and likable. It is really a romance novel with embellishments and I nonetheless totally enjoyed it. 3.5 stars and I really fought deciding whether to round up or down.

I always love the Nora Roberts suspense novels that come out each spring. This was not a disappointment. Very engaging characters... I like that the families she creates are so close, but not perfect. My only concern with this book were the parts that were similar to Room by Emma Donoghue. Not exactly the same, but I had read that earlier this year, and found it disturbing... and then to come across a similar story was surprising.

Nora Roberts has written a competent novel with a disturbing plot; the aunt of a rancher went missing many years ago when she was kidnapped by a serial abuser; now all the threads of the past have to be resolved; How much violence before resolution? Not for the faint of heart.

I have been reading Nora Robert's books for a very long time, and rarely do they disappoint. This is one of her suspense novels with romance woven throughout. While a little slow in places, the story pulls you in. I found the backstory of Alice the most fascinating. Ms. Roberts as always, has created compelling characters and a creative story.

With beautiful settings, interesting characters, and a very suspenseful plot, Ms. Roberts has given us a heart-breaking, hopeful story that keeps us entertained and interested throughout.

Received as an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
