Exhilarating, Titillating, Explosive!

Gideon, a hard-hearted hit man and lover extraordinaire, finds himself in an uncomfortable rivalry war when he cannot say no to the woman who haunts his heart. There is much damage on both sides, and there is a personal revengeful element that will lead Gideon to become more introspective than in previous books. But the other side, knows how to mess with his head leading Gideon to ponder what type of monster he has become but also opening his eyes to the trail of broken hearts he abandoned in the call of business.

As expected, the fast-paced storyline is filled with scary twists, violent encounters, and tantalizing intimate moments. One of the aspects that I enjoy in this series, is the author’s amazing description of the landscapes as the characters romp through North and South America.

This is the fifth book in the Gideon series, after a hiatus, but the author reminds the reader who the cast of characters are and what they mean to Gideon.

This is an edgy turn-pager that answered questions that have puzzled me in the past but to the author’s credit has now provided another cliff-hanger ending that I did not see coming. I hope the wait for the next Gideon will be a short one!

As an Eric Jerome Dickey and Gideon series fan, I was too happy to request this book. Afterall, I had to get an update on my favorite assasin, Gideon! Needless to say, I am glad I requested this book, and as always, EJD brings action, hot sex, and revenge like no other. I needed a cigarette after the sex scenes!

Finding Gideon is a serial novel by Eric Jerome Dickey. My favorite gun-for-hire is back! Ah, it's been way too long. In this new novel, a professional job turns personal. Picking up exactly where the previous book left off, we see that neither Gideon nor Buenos Aires has recovered from the violent mayhem. And Gideon is not quite done doing damage. Enlisting the help of friend assassins, Gideon plots revenge on Midnight, the man he believed he'd already killed.

Meanwhile, Midnight is assembling a team of way more than Four Horsemen to take down Gideon and other targets. Lives and family are a stake in this all out international war spanning the globe from Buenos Aires to Uruguay, France, Athens, U.S. city of Atlanta and more. It is a whirlwind when their paths finally cross.

"I know twenty-two ways to end a life. I just didn't know how to save three." ~ 67%

"I know just as many ways to please as I did to kill." ~ 96%

Not many authors can combine adventure, suspense, dark fiction, erotica and thriller into one novel. ONE DAMN NOVEL! Finding Gideon is a prime example of the new genre that Eric Jerome Dickey now writes best: sexy thrillers. Longtime fans of EJD will be quite pleased to find almost all of his characters in this one book. I am trying to avoid spoilers but have to share my pleasure in seeing bits of Arizona, Sierra, Lola Mack, Hawks, Shotgun, The Four Horsemen, Scamz and others. And these characters were not just thrown in; they were all strategically placed in the story. Well done!

Because there are so many side characters, it may be difficult for some readers to follow along if you are unfamiliar with the backstories. I recommend at least reading Resurrecting Midnight first. In the Acknowledgments, EJD wrote it best: There are a lot of Easter eggs.

"Wingtips or high heels, an assassin was an assassin." ~ 50%

The only thing I did not like about Finding Gideon was the book cover art. It is similar to The Blackbirds in that it features a close-up of a woman of color. High cheekbones, full lips, eyes looking off to the side. On another book, I would like it. But Gideon is the main character. This is HIS story. So why is a woman on the cover? Am I missing the point here? *insert shrug emoji here*

If you are looking for a very detailed novel—the kind of book where you miss something if you blink or turn the page too fast—then purchase Finding Gideon when it is published next Tuesday, April 18. Thank me later.

Have you ever been so excited to read, watch or eat something and the anticipation was killing you? That's how I felt waiting for this book to happen. Just like everyone else, I couldn't wait for another adventure with Gideon. Then the day happens, you get what you've been waiting for, and then it falls short of your expectations. You stop for a minute and think "something is wrong with me, why didn't I love it," and you're beside yourself.

Finding Gideon wasn't a "bad" book by any sense of the word. It's Eric Jerome Dickey for goodness sake. And, he's still one of my most favorite authors but there was just a lot going on and it didn't hold my attention like I thought it would. Finding Gideon had a colorful cast of characters, tons of action, and I'm sure EJD's most loyal readers will love it!

I started reading this book but... I just could not get into it. I didn't get very far, so I opted not to review it. The GIdeon series started off great for me but he has really lost his shine on my TBR, unfortunately.

Eric Jerome Dickey is a master at his trade. I tried to fall in love with Finding Gideon but... not sure what happened. Lots of characters and twists and turns. It was an effort to read. I would still read more of his work.

Finding Gideon was marketed as a stand-alone, even though there are more stories in this series, and technically it is, but I did feel that I fell feet first into a story that I wasn’t ready for. I think it had to do with the main POV in the beginning which was Medianoche, which starts out in a place I didn’t want to be. I didn’t like him, I didn’t want to read about him…and it kept increasing. Dickey tried to explain his backstory, but then just as you were getting comfortable, another tidbit was introduced and I was lost in someone else’s backstory. It got confusing at times and I stopped reading the book at a few points, only to pick it back up again, thinking it might a failing on my part. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood. Because I did want to like this book.

The overall gist of the story is that there are bad guy vs. bad guy, each one has a length backstory of why they are bad. Gideon, the somewhat redeemable bad guy, is one set on revenge against the hired killer that is sort of his nemesis. But, Midnight - or Medianoche isn’t an easy target - and that guy is set on killing Gideon even more. There is a lot sex, but none of it romantic. There is a lot of violence, which is all quite gory, and there are a lot of cool references to usually not featured places, which I thought was the best part of the book. But, it’s all packed into 450 pages that seem to go on forever.

My overall experience of the book was not a good one, unfortunately. I found the writing style hard to digest, I can only describe it when your ten-speed is on some crazy setting and you pedal and pedal and the pedals move fast, but you aren’t going anywhere. The anticipation and anxiety was high, the talk of killing and revenge, when only ten minutes passed in the book. It was all devious thoughts in the characters head. Then I was popped out of the book because something didn’t make sense, or a phrase I didn’t get. I liked exploring what it meant - but it’s hard to get back into a book like this.

I did like the diversity, and the descriptions of the different places, the authors knowledge of certain aspects described in the book, and the intensity of the entire novel. I wish I could have gotten into it more. Maybe if I read the first books, I would have. If it looks interesting, go back and check out the Gideon series.

In this installment of the Gideon saga, we find him in Argentina face to face with someone who he thought was dead: yet here he is and begins another story that pulls you in from the first page until the final period.

A lot is going on in this book. At times I felt there was too much and that is wasn’t need to move the story forward. I was lost at times with the many side characters, some of the expressions in Spanish and the huge thing was the repetitiveness that caused the story to become confusing. Way too descriptive at times in the scenes also with people and places.

With that said Gideon the character brings it, and it is an action packed story - we who follow EDJ and his work have come to know and love. Lots of action and characters I suspect you will not be inviting over to dinner.

Even with the “flaws,” I look forward to the next chapter in Gideon’s life because there is much more that we don’t know and after all, this is Eric Jerome Dickey you know, he has more in store for the man and his mystery. Plus if you have read his work you know what you’re getting.

Don’t miss out on any of his work and I highly recommend Resurrecting Midnight. Loved it. But so that you know Finding Gideon can be read as a stand alone but why would you do that. Read them both...no read them all!

Another fantastic journey with the sexy, skillful assasain Gideon. I have read each book in the series multiple times while waiting for this book to finally come! (It was like the worst torture Gideon could've ever dealt out) This story can be read as a stand alone but I wouldn't advise it. Explanations are given brilliantly without making you feel like you're rereading everything. (Why cheat yourself read the other books first you won't be disappointed.) Once again I was dropped into countries I've never visited but swear I've seen via the author's luscious descriptions. I could feel the rain, smell the dog doo as I try not to step in it--it was everywhere! I hid out in safe houses, flew in private luxury jets got jacked on a cruise ship and visited gorgeous hotels.. Of course I got to scheme, heal and fight, take BC Powder, kill and make love like there would be no tomorrow while making profound discoveries about myself and others along the way. Each character is fully developed and I know them. Some I love, some I love to hate, and some I'm still not sure about (Thelma I'm looking at you!) If you want to be immersed into an epic adventure with big screen blockbuster action and an unguessable plot this is the book for you. I made myself slow down as the book neared its end but then I remembered I get to ride the ride again any time I want. My only warning is you may find yourself walking down streets looking through glass windows to make sure no one is following you and you may develop a trigger finger that jumps whenever you think danger is near. Anxiously awaiting the next book!

A Thrill ride! Welcome back Gideon- oh how we've missed you! Picking up right after the explosive events in Resurrecting Midnight, Finding Gideon plunges you right back into the dangerous world of assassins, mercenaries and the secrets that drive them to greater danger and self discovery.

It was action packed, sexy and intriguing. The wait for this Gideon novel was a long, long 8 years. EJD definitely made it worth the wait. It broke my heart, made me laugh, made me blush and want to hide and cover my eyes. The battle scenes are so well written, so smartly crafted, perfection!

Hawks and Gideon gutted me! I want them to HEA so freaking bad! So bad! I love them!

Gideon is still the hit man of my dreams. I loved his duality. He's my whiskey!

Midnight. Savage. His dynamic with his team and with Gideon- mind blown!

The new assassins we meet- all characterized beautifully, no throw away characters in EJD novels folks!

And Catherine. Natalie. Thelma. She is an enigma. Secrets inside of secrets and I am pulling myh hair out that there are STILL huge things that Gideon does not know.

I sincerely hope there is another Gideon in 2018. Finding Gideon ends with more questions, more uncertainty! And I love it!

This was a very difficult book to finish.

Let me break the reasons down:

1. Aside the main ARC involving Gideon and Medianoche(Midnight), there were many many many many MANY side characters. All who were described, given backstories, and sometimes had their own POV. This cluttered the story.

2.There were many expressions, most in Spanish, that I had to keep translating or looking up because I didn't get them. This soured & slowed down my reading experience.

3.The writing was a bit choppy, sometimes repetitive , and didn't flow as smoothly as it could have. The arrangements of POVs and events also needed some work. It got topsy turvy at times and got one confused till the point of the chapter or event was revealed. It also tended to be overly descriptive of scenes, time, people and places.

With that out of the way, the story was action-packed and even through the overly packed pages, it was nicely paced. The characters were ruthless in all they did, never held anything back and I must say I enjoyed the action immensely. Medianoche was evil-incarnate , with no scruples and no remorse whatsoever.Though Gideon was not a saint, he at least had a code he lived by.

Honestly, I think that the action saved the book for me. Had the action not been as good as it was, I would've gotten fed up and DNF'd the book before the 50% mark. by. All the characters were badasses. They might not all have been likeable but they all were badasses.

I think it is worth mentioning that this was not a romance. There wasn't a scrap of romance anywhere in this. I don't even know why it was tagged as such. The characters slept with who they wanted to, when they wanted to. They neither had, nor formed any emotional attachments to anyone aside their work groups or families.

Finally, Gideon's mother deserves a special mention for being the worst friggin mother in this entire universe. After destroying one child's life, she just went on and casually traumatized two more lives. What a character! Many times while reading, I wanted to reach into the book and punch her in the face. Several times. For long periods. Ugh.

I sense there is more in store for Gideon, his mother, the lady from Uruguay, the arms dealer from London, Arizona and her sister among others.I might pick up that book if it comes out just to see where he ends up.

I just might. I've still not decided yet.
