Overdramatic, but fun and sweet. More of a fairy-tale than something you can really buy in to, but it was easy to cheer for both characters and hope for the best for them.

This is the first book that I read from K.A Tucker and it will NOT be the last! I have good things about her from everyone, so when I found this available on NetGalley, I was down to jump in. It was easy to fall into step with this story. Catherine Wright has had a difficult go at life during her teenage years. She fell in love with her high art teacher and was quickly ostracized by her entire community once word got out. It was unfortunate that Catherine had to endure such strife at such a young age, but the best thing to come out of her troubled youth was her daughter. One night on her way home, she happens upon a situation where she is compelled to help. It leads her into the path of an NHL hockey hottie, Brett Madden. There is a lot of back and forward with these two, but you can't stop reading to find out what happens next. Love this story and I can't wait to share with friends. :) 5/5 stars.

This is my first time reading a book by K.A. Tucker. What immediately drew my attention about this book in particular was that the protagonist was a single mom. I was excited to see what this was about and how everything would possibly pan out in the end! It's a fairly light and fun book to read.

At times it was a bit of a slow book to read but it just made me anticipate when Catherine and Brett would finally get together. I adored the characters and plot, and loved K.A. Tucker's writing. This entire book was just overall amazing to read.

I would highly recommend picking this book up and checking out today! Seriously, it's that good.

This is an excellent read by Tucker. If you haven't read this one or any others, you should grab them up now! This is a story where the waitress meets a hockey player. A real-life fairytale, right? It's a fast-paced story that will keep you entertained from the first page to the last.

This book is hard for me to rate because the writing was like a 5-star but my enjoyment was more like 3-stars.

I chose this book because K.A. Tucker past stories have been raw, gritty and mesmerizing authentic. This one was slower paced, methodical and well developed. It just lacked that gritty angst that I was hoping for.

The heroine Catherine Wright was a young student who made a mistake with her teacher that shadowed her life for a long time. This story was the growth, maturity and reconstruction of Catherine’s life.

As a single mother Cat works as a waitress in a diner owned by the only person in town who gave her safe place. She found support and even friendship at the dinner. On her way home she came upon an car accident. Cat rescued the occupant to only discover he was a famous hockey player Brett Madden.

The author slowly begins Catherine’s journey to reclaim her sense of self worth and trust in others. I really liked Catherine, her daughter, dad more than mom, her brother Jack, friend Keith and her boss Lou from the diner. Even with a good supporting cast, this story was the same cliche famous guy falls in love with poor downtrodden girl and saves her. I appreciate the systematic development of the Heroine but I found the pace too slow and frankly boring.

I lost interest about 60% into the story and struggled to finish it as the end was so predictable. The best part for me was that the teacher got his just due. At the beginning of the book, I disliked Catherine’s mom but by the end, I saw her for what she was, a mother trying to protect her daughter Catherine the only way she knew how. They paid a price but in the end, I truly comprehended what she was trying to do as a mother.

KA Tucker is a great writer but this one just lacked excitement and angst for me. I would recommend it to those who enjoy chick lit as it’s still a good story.

I'm fortunate to be able to read this early! And wow, was it GOOD!

Oh man this book left me reeling! This is by far my favorite K.A. Tucker book! And I've read them all. I mean all her books are amazing! I just love the way she writes and the characters are so relatable and real that I get sucked into the story. I find myself flying through all the books and not wanting it to end at the same time. This book was no exception. Until It Fades is one of her more light-hearted books. It's a fairy tale love story and it had me from the beginning. I just loved everything about it. From how they met, to the very end. Catherine is just a single mom who has been scorned by the small town she lives in until she meets Brett.

I mean BRETT! He was just a perfect book boyfriend. He is like my image of a perfect man. I am basically ruined for any man I meet in real life because none of them would be as close to Brett.

The instant connection Brett and Catherine has is very obvious and I just love that it wasn't instant love. Catherine had her reservations and Brett had his life but it didn't matter because their feelings for each other just grew and you definitely see that in the book.

This is definitely a book I would re-read time and time again. This is definitely a GREAT book to read to get you in a good mood. It definitely affected me. I am definitely setting my sets high on a guy that is into me as much as Brett is to Catherine. Everyone deserves a guy like Brett!

4.5 Stars!

If not for the ending of this book, Until It Fades would have been the perfect story!

Catherine Wright is a young single mother living in a small Pennsylvania town. She made some bad choices during her high school years, resulting in a scandal that rocked her town. For the most part, it’s all behind her though. She has two good friends, Keith and Misty, surrogate parents in Lou and Leroy (who run the diner where she works), and is repairing the estranged relationship she’s had with her difficult mother and distant father. Everything she does is to make a better life for her daughter Brenna. She’s owned her past mistakes, and is determined to live smart from now on. She’s the best kind of heroine - flawed, but working towards becoming a better person.

When Catherine rescues professional hockey star Brett Madden from a fiery car crash, she does everything she can to keep people from finding out who she is. She knows her heroic efforts will also dredge up the past, which she’s desperate to keep in the past - not for her sake but for Brenna’s. Then Brett insists on thanking her in person, and she’s not anything like he was expecting. He falls for her quickly, but has to work hard to get through the walls Catherine has built so she can live smart. He’s the best kind of hero - honest, kind, and determined to win the heart of the woman he loves.

Where some people may think this was a slow moving story, I saw it as relationship development. Brett didn’t go in, all hormones-a-blazin, expecting things to move at breakneck speed. Instead, he goes to Keith for intel so he knows what he’s dealing with. I loved Brett, and I loved the love story between Brett and Catherine. I loved their flirty banter and nonexistent angst.

Frequently I don’t like when a story is told with the single person point of view. It leaves me feeling like I don’t know the thoughts and feelings of the other main character. But this time, even though the story is told from Catherine’s POV, we get enough about Brett through his conversations with her (how novel!) that I don’t feel like he’s an unknown. He’s kind, and patient, and is upfront in telling Catherine how he feels about her. He’s not intimidated or put off by Brenna. And while my big disappointment about this book is that we never get to see that moment when they first declare their love to each other, Brett shows her all the time - in small ways and big - how he feels about her.

I’m a reader who likes my romances to end with happily-ever-after. Which is NOT what we got here. Even though there was an epilogue, I feel like it gave us closure for Brett’s future career, and not the future for their relationship. We waited so incredibly long for them to be together, for Catherine to decide to take the chance on letting Brett into her life, that I wanted to see them married, having children, being happy together. I wanted so much more for them, and instead, I read the last line and felt like a deflated balloon. I can only hope there will be more stories for the people in this book, and then perhaps we’ll get a glimpse of Catherine and Brett with a happily-ever-after!

PS KA Tucker - PLEASE find someone wonderful to love Keith (not Misty - she deserves love too, of course, but she’s not for Keith)! He’s so selfless, and caring, and always running to rescue Catherine without expecting anything in return. I loved how he did what he could to push Brett and Catherine together, even at the expense of having his own chance to be with her. He deserves to have a happily-ever-after, too!

I am a huge fan of Tucker's, but this wasn't her best work. Until It Fades had a unique storyline, but at times it felt a little drawn out which made it hard to keep my attention. It was still solid and worth a read.

KA Tucker is without a doubt one of my favourite authors. She's versatile in her writing so you never know what you will get with each book, which is such a refreshing thing in a market filled with the same old same old. Until It Fades was another great read from KA. It was one of those books you pick up and don't put back down until its finished. I got completely swept up in Catherine's story.

I thought the entire premise of the story was fantastic. I loved learning of Catherine's life, both past and present, and I loved her makeshift family at the diner she worked at. Her daughter added so much cute factor to the story, and hello Brett Madden - swoooon! All of the characters added so much to an already great story, and you can't help but love them all. Well...most of them.

Until It Fades had the sweetest romance I've read in so long, I swooned from one page to another whenever Brett was around, and I was hoping and praying they would get a HEA. This was no simple hearts and flowers story though. Learning of Catherine's past and everything she has been through was heart-breaking to see, but it all just made her that more relatable as a character; she's flawed and has made mistakes, but that doesn't mean she's destined for a miserable existence. Thank the book gods that Brett Madden came along.

Hold on to your hearts with this one, ladies.

Three and a half stars: A cute rag to riches/ Cinderella story, but it felt a bit too good to be true.

Catherine is used to struggles. She has worked to make it on her own since she was seventeen years old. After an illicit affair with her high school teacher, Catherine became the town pariah. At twenty four, she has fought to make ends meet and to provide a home for her five year old daughter. Everything changes one night as Catherine heads home on a dark, curvy road. Catherine comes upon a deadly car crash. Risking her life, Catherine saves Brett Madden a hockey icon. Catherine wants to hide as she doesn’t want her name back in the spotlight. What she doesn’t expect is a friendship to form. Will Catherine ever escape her past?
What I Liked:
Until It Fades reads like a Cinderella type story. It is predictable, romantic and sweet, yet fun. This is a light read without heavy angst and drama. So if you want something on the fluffy side, this is a good bet.
*The story moves back and forth in time, you witness the horrible events that occurred during Catherine’s senior year in high school, then you are in the present as Catherine saves Brett. I liked the movement back and forth because I liked understanding Catherine’s character.
*The romance is just right. I appreciate that it took its time to develop. It solidifies as a strong friendship before transitioning into something more. I especially liked that there was a great deal of trust between the two. Finally, there wasn’t angst or drama or any ridiculous stumbles, which I found refreshing.
*I liked that this was a bit of a second chance story. After Catherine’s terrible fall, she busts her butt to find a way to succeed. I loved Catherine’s sheer determination. I couldn’t help but root for her. Yes, her character in the beginning is hard to like, but after you see how far she comes, you can’t help but cheer her on.
*The cast of secondary characters was terrific. I loved Catherine’s diner family, especially how they stood beside her when everyone else abandoned her. I also enjoyed seeing Catherine work through the difficulties in her relationship with her own family.
*I thought the way the story line involving the teacher was well done. It was especially nice to see how it all worked out.
*The ending was sweet and nice. I perfect happily ever after.
And The Not So Much:
*Even though I liked the romance and the story, it read too much like a Cinderella type fairy tale. It was a little hard to believe. So if you are going into this one expecting a realistic romance, this will disappoint you. It is also very predictable.
*I loved Keith, Catherine’s best friend, who stood beside her through thick and thin. I was bothered the way things settled out. I wanted them to discuss things thoroughly. I also felt like this story line was left undone.
*I listened to the audiobook version, and I had problems differentiating between the past and the present as there were no markers to let the reader know you were back in the past. I am sure it was marked clearly in the physical book, but for the audiobook the transitions were somewhat confusing.

Until It Fades is a light, fun fairy tale type romance perfect for when you want something light and fluffy. I appreciated that the romance was without drama and angst and that it took its time to develop. However, it felt a bit too unrealistic. Pick this up when you want a feel good read, but don’t go into it expecting to it to be a believable romance.

K.A. Tucker always seems to amaze me with her heart-felt and original stories. Her characters and plot are always intriguing and easy to read.

This story was no different in those aspects. I found myself turning page after page, wanting more. I fell in love with the characters almost instantly. The story took on a life as its own.

I can never seem to get enough of Tucker's stories. I never seem to want them to end. The love, warmth, likeable characters, and ever moving plot will always keep me coming back to read her books!

I’ve seen a lot of great reviews for K.A. Tucker books but for some reason, this is the first time I’ve actually read one of her books. It’s interesting reading the other reviews for this one because most of them say it’s different from her other books. I, obviously, can’t comment on that but it does make me interested in reading some of her other stuff because while I definitely enjoyed this book and it was a cute and quick romance read, I didn’t really love it. But I do wonder if something a little less light from her might be something that I like a whole lot more. I just felt like it was a little unfocused, with a lot going on and a lot of conveniently placed obstacles in their path. It also had a very Cinderella feel to it. I wish it would have just taken a few of the things going on, like the past with her teacher, the media frenzy, his future in hockey and her relationship with her parents, and focused on those. There’s a lot more going on around them with a lot of other characters but these were the items that I felt carried the most emotional impact in the story and wish there had been a bit more depth or development of those situations. But that could just be me.
Of course, I absolutely loved Brenna and the comedic relief she offered. Also, Lou was fantastic and one of those characters you always wish you knew in real life. I liked Keith, except that he sorted of faded from the story and really wish he had been there as just a friend instead of adding in his feelings for Cath to the story as well. But at least it was handled well and didn’t have a love-triangle sort of feel to it.
Overall, if you’re looking for a cute romance to read, this is a good pick. It’s fast, has a cute hockey player as the LI, an adorable kid, and a very fairy tale ( man swoops in and solves all the girl’s problem feel). Of course, if that sort of thing drives you crazy, I’d stay away. (The money solves all problems was the least favorite feeling of the book for me.)

This book was a sleeper hit for me! I wasn’t expecting it to hit me like it did. I loved it so much I read it twice and listened to it once. I don’t know what it was about it that just made it stick with me.
Cath is a young single mom working as a waitress at a diner. She is running from her past reputation and it colors everything in her life from her single status, trust issues and poor relationship with her parents. She never expects anything good to ever come her way.
I loved Cath’s strength and vulnerability. I loved her total cluelessness about her appeal. But most of all this book was just absolutely all about the swoony Brett. Rich, handsome, famous. Everything that Cath can’t see herself falling for. But he slowly chips away at her resolve. This is a definite slow burn which I love. It was just sweet and you rooted for the couple the entire time to get their HEA. When they finally do it’s like the cherry on top of an ooey gooey sundae! This book definitely earned a spot on my re-read list. It’s become a total comfort read for me.

One of the best, if not the best, books from K.A. Tucker.

I seriously couldn't put this one down, and it was completely believable and relatable. Just a joy to read from beginning to end.

My curiosity got the best of me and I requested my first book by K.A. Tucker from NetGalley and this just was not for me.

First off romances are not my favorite genre to read and I should probably stay away from them, however, that’s not my main reason this one didn’t work for me. I don’t read many romances and as a non-romantic, I do try to avoid them so I am not really sure what to expect from them.

Until It Fades was a predictable, unrealistic read for me that felt a bit overdone. The characters were just a bit too perfect to be realistic and I felt no spark between Catherine and way too perfect Brett.

I wish I had like this one better, however, I have already forgotten about this one to write anymore about it.

Thank you, NetGalley, Atria Books and K.A. Tucker for a copy to read and review.

Until it Fades is the very first book I've ever read by K.A. Tucker, though I have quite a few of her books on my TBR. I've wanted to read something by her for quite a while now, and Until it Fades sounded like the perfect book to start with. And it was!

The book is full of all kinds of interesting characters, including the main character, Catherine, who has quite the back-story. You can't help but feel for the girl for all that she has been through, and I was able to relate to her in quite a few ways. I definitely appreciated her determination throughout the book, especially when it came to her daughter. And I kind of love Brett Madden for entering her life and turning everything around. The relationship between the two is really sweet, and put a smile on my face more than a few times.

The storyline for the book was really interesting, and made for a very quick read. It's a contemporary novel, which is my most favorite genre, especially lately, and it was a little predictable, but it was just what I needed to read at the moment. I really enjoyed reading the book, and I kind of didn't want it to end!

Overall; Until it Fades was an interesting read, and I'm thrilled to have finally read something by K.A. Tucker. I'm even more excited to read the rest of her books that are on my TBR now, and I'm hoping to get to some of them soon!

Happy Reading!!

I’ve read and loved several of Tucker’s books, so I decided to read Until It Fades without paying much attention to what it was about. Turns out it wasn’t quite what I expected, but still a good read. The previous books I read by Tucker were more romantic-suspense, so I kept waiting for that suspense element to pop up, but it never did. This is a straight contemporary romance that doesn’t involve excessive angst or drama.

I totally feel for Catherine and her situation. After an effed up incident that occurred when she was a teenager, she prefers to live a low-key life with her daughter and avoid any type of spotlight. Yeah, so much for that plan. When she rescues Brett, one of the most famous hockey players known to man, the media wants a piece of her. Turns out Brett wants a piece of her too.

The pace is a bit on the slower side, but doesn’t feel like it drags. It’s just that it really gets into the character and plot development. There’s a lot more going on than a romance between two people; it delves into what Cath went through, the relationship with her friends and family, and how everything has impacted her life. I really like that it’s basically Catherine’s story and her growth as a person.

I like Catherine and Brett, but don’t feel strongly about the romance either way. It’s interesting, because it seems like it takes awhile for the romantic aspect to build up, but at the same time it happens quick. There’s plenty of time from when they technically meet to the end of the book, but I would have liked to experienced more interaction between Cath and Brett, even if it had been through text, because I didn’t fully feel their chemistry together. There’s definitely something between them, but it just didn’t do much for me. I’m not saying it’s a bad story, because I really did enjoy it. I just wanted to experience them getting to know each other better.

Overall, though, Until It Fade is a good book that kept me interested from beginning to end.

I've been meaning to read K.A. Tucker for awhile now and when I checked out the synopsis for Until It Fades, I decided not to wait any longer. Granted, it might have taken a little bit longer for me to actually start it, but it was worth all the waiting I did. Until It Fades was positively wonderful and it was the perfect first book to introduce me to this author!

It's somewhat hard for me to decide who my favorite character is between Brett and Catherine because I loved both of them a lot and on one hand I know Cath more because the whole story is in her point of view, but on the other hand, Brett is such a wonderful hero. I'll go with him first for the former reason I just mentioned. Brett is a nice, sweet, down-to-earth man who has such integrity, is all about honesty, and is unbelievably generous. When I realized that we were only going to experience Cath's point of view, I wondered if I would be able to love Brett that much or at all, but I really shouldn't have given it any thought because he made it impossible not to fall in love with him.

Catherine hasn't always made the best choices in the world, but she is truly a great heroine. She's independent, she's a hard worker, she cares so much about Brenna, and even though she has her weak moments, she is still a strong woman because of all she's been through. I said that Cath has weak moments and she does, she has moments of insecurity, doubt, and fear, and she doesn't just immediately give Brett a chance and while that might have normally been annoying - in Cath's case, it wasn't. I never got annoyed with her for being cautious and uncertain about how she should precede with Brett, I understood her hesitations and it didn't bother me at all. I think Catherine is strong and brave and deserving of every happiness because she's a sweet, kind soul and I couldn't help but love her either.

Until It Fades was a fun, light read though it definitely had times of heartache, seriousness, and frustration. It was engaging, entertaining, funny, and surprising at parts. I had such a good time reading this book, it was beautiful and heartwarming. I absolutely loved Until It Fades and I can't wait to read more of K.A. Tucker!

Until It Fades is a standalone told from only Catherine's point of view that does have a lovely happily-ever-after ending.

4.5 stars!!

This book!!!! This book was everything and it completely surprised me. Im usually not a fan of slow burn books and although this one was a slow burn, I wouldn't want it any other way! Its been three weeks since I've read this book and it still stays with me. I loved it! The only reason why I gave it a 4.5/5 stars is because I was little disappointed in the way the author ended the story. I didn't want it to ever end so I was already saddened by the end but I still would have preferred a better ending. I felt like it ended abruptly, the author implies that there's a HEA for the two but my heart wanted it with concrete proof. Must Read if you ask me.
