Catherine is a 24-year-old single mother working in a truck stop and barely getting by financially. She is driving home from a disastrous blind date one night when she comes across an accident. The driver is dead but she is able to pull the passenger out of the car before it explodes into fire. Because the passenger turns out to be a professional hockey player named Brett, there is a lot of media attention. Catherine had been part of a scandal in the town when she was seventeen and doesn't want to draw attention to herself or her daughter.

When Brett meets Catherine to thank her for saving her life, they become friends and then more. But Catherine's life is very different Brett's. She's living paycheque to paycheque with government assistance. Money and media attention has never been an problem for Brett since he is a hockey player whose team is in the playoffs.

I've read a few books by this author. This is a departure of style for her (not as intense) and I liked it. I liked the story and the writing style. It's written in third person perspective with a focus on Catherine. As a head's up, there is swearing and adult activity.

I liked the characters. Catherine has had to endure some hardships ... raising her daughter as a single mother with very little money. She had just gotten back to having a relationship with her family (there was a riff because of the scandal seven years ago). Despite having a privileged childhood (his mother is a famous actress) and now being a star hockey player, Brett wasn't pretentious or annoying. He seemed pretty down to earth and valued honesty.

This was my first K.A. Tucker book so I really didn't know what to expect but after reading the blurb I was really intrigued and I wanted to know more about it. Well, I can tell you that I ended up loving this book and everything about it.

First of all, I loved the characters. The main character, Cath, was such a great girl. She did a few mistakes in her past that ended up putting her in a difficult situation but she grew and she tries to have the best life for her and her daughter Brenna. I love how hard-working Cath is and how much she cares about her daughter and her family, even if her relationship with her family wasn't always the best. Her life is not the easiest since she is a single mom and raises her kid alone but she does the best she can. Brett was also a great guy. Unlike Cath, he always had an easy life. He comes from a rich family and always had everything he needed. He was also an amazing hockey player. But while he had an easy life he struggles a lot with his accident and that might bring to his future and he career. But as I said, he was such an amazing guy. I love how much he helped Cath (and how much she helped him). To be honest, their relationship was the cutest thing ever. I love how they start as friends and only have something else when Cath is sure of it. They also an amazing chemistry and that always helps a lot. Another plus in this book was Brett's relationship with Brenna. They were the cutest thing ever.

Another thing I really enjoyed in this book was that it wasn't all about Cath and Brett. I loved how important their families and friends were in their story. Brett's parents and Cath's boss were awesome and it was impossible not to love them.

Since this was my first K.A. Tucker book I didn't really knew what to expect from the writing but I loved it. Also, while this book is told only from Cath's POV I still enjoyed how the author included some flashbacks so we could understand a little bit better what happened in Cath's past... even if I wasn't expecting some things to happening.

Overall, this was a great book. I loved everything about and I definitely recommend this to everyone else who loves some romance. I can't wait to read more of K.A. Tucker's books and find more awesomeness.

Until It Fades came to me at the right time. I needed something sweet and it hit the spot perfectly.

Just like K.A. Tucker says in her acknowledgments, this romance is different than her prior work. I was a little worried I wasn't going to love it. Sometimes when an author changes her style, it doesn't work for me. I'm glad this wasn't the case. I fell in love with the characters and I couldn't wait for them to be together.

Catherine Wright made some terrible choices. As a teenager, she fell in love with her art teacher who's a lot older than her. When their latest rendezvous is discovered by her mother, she's forced to go to the police to accuse him. She, later on, recants her testimony and she becomes the pariah of Balsam, Pennsylvania. She's not the only one affected by her actions, her parents and younger siblings suffered too. Soon after, Catherine leaves her family home to distance herself from her family and her mother's recriminations. She seeks a new job as a waitress but she has a new complication. She's pregnant. Fast forward seven years and Catherine's still at the same job but her daughter Brenna is a happy kid despite them not having much money. Catherine is talking to her parents again and her mother helps her with babysitting on weekends while she's working. However, fate has plans for Catherine. In the blink of an eye, she's faced with a horrible car accident. One of the victims is still alive. She tries to help him but he's big and heavy. When the car ignites, she knows she's running out of time but leaving him is not something she wants to do.

Brett Madden is a famous hockey player. Some say he might be the best there is. He's also the son of a famous beloved actress and the spotlight loves him. He's not sure how he survived the car accident that took the life of his best friend but he's very grateful to the person who saved him. He wants nothing more than to meet his savior. When he finally learns it is a woman who pulled him out of the Corvette, he wants to see her to thank her in person. When he does, he feels an instant connection to Cath. He wants to get to know her better but she has created huge walls around her heart. Also, the reporters who have descended on the town trying to find more about the good Samaritan, are making Cath's life difficult. Brett will do whatever is necessary to make her life easier even if it means stepping away.

At the beginning of the novel, I wasn't sure I was going to like Cath. She was selfish and rude but with time and life hitting her hard, she matures into a very nice person. She's a hard worker, a good mother who wants the best for Brenna and who wasn't going to let a man hurt or use her again.

Brett was too good to be true. It's true. Still, I couldn't help but fall for him. He was sweet, attentive, and patient.

Overall, Until It Fades made me happy. I enjoyed reading it. Cath deserved happiness and Brett was there to provide it. The only thing missing was a big epilogue.

Catherine until she was sixteen was a passionate and inconsequential teenager who ended up making a mistake that transformed her whole life and her family too. Now seven years later, she just wants to give her daughter a decent life and be invisible to the prejudiced people in the city where she lives. The night she saves a guy involved in a serious car accident, she has her life radically transformed again for good this time . But she does not want to be featured again.

The boy Catherine saves is nothing more than a famous hockey player, Brett, who was going to a party with a colleague and friend who was not as fortunate as him to survive this tragedy. He does not content himself with not being able to thank personally for his life to whom saved him and does everything to find out who his heroine is.

Their reunion is both exciting and the sparkling of passion is almost instantaneous which creates a confusion of feelings in both of them, making them refuse to admit what they feel for each other. Meanwhile the media are crazy speculating who this heroine is and what she does and begins to investigate her life leaving Catherine worried about what can happen to her and her daughter.

The book is very well written with every situation set in the right moment to culminate in a surprising and beautiful ending. It is a typical modern fairy tale with all the elements that characterize this genre, from the enchanted prince, villains, heroin, fairy godmother, the special magic of love , everything is solving the problem with a beautiful lesson and discreet criticism of the initial situation and Suffering of the protagonist in the past.

Speaking in the past, what in the course of reading I have confirmed is that the book is about overcoming and growing Catherine having the romance as background to show everything that happened to her in the past as in the present. It is narrated in the first person only by the girl which gives more strength to my thinking even more when you look at this bright and illuminated cover that shows well that the main focus is girl.

Highlight for me was mainly:
- Catherine's friend, Keith, another passionate prince who I hope to have a book for him too;
- the couple who take good care of Catherine, Lou and Leroy;
- and her daughter Brenna who is such a curious and entertaining figure that puts her mother in embarrassing situations at various points in the book.

Highly recommended

This was such a sweet love story. It had a slow and steady build up. It had a swoony, sexy hockey player and a struggling single mother. The attraction was undeniable. The chemistry could melt your kindle. The story will have you feeling all the feels. This was a true slow burning love story. This author is known for her angsty stories but this was less angsty and more swoony and sweet. You won’t want to put this one down.

I just loved the feel of this book. The writing was smooth and flawless. The story was captivating. The characters were real. Everything just flowed together into this perfect romance book.

My first read from Tucker was He Will Be My Ruin and I absolutely loved it. I knew from the moment I started reading it that I jut enjoyed her writing style and would read more from her. So when I saw Until It Fades, I gobbled it up. While I haven't read all her books, it's clear that Until It Fades, is different for her and I'm actually glad she did it. It's lighter-hearted and full of love and ultimately happiness. Sure, there are struggles but the resounding picture is the epitome of love.

From the age of seventeen, Catherine's life has been turned upside down. A scandal marks her as the town's outcast. She's now a waitress at a diner and doing everything she can to give her little girl everything that she needs. When a selfless act of bravery lands one of the most coveted NHL players in her life, ultimately everything changes.

Here's what I enjoyed the most about this book. Sure, some might call it cliché and predictable if you look at the overall outline but there's so much more to it. Catherine's struggles are real and her determination and stubbornness is one to be admired. She's just very relatable and easy to like. And while Brett has had a much easier time in his life, he's certainly got a bit of his own scares but ultimately he's just a good guy with good morals and a huge heart. When he's with Brenna, Catherine's daughter, I pretty much swooned.

I enjoyed every character in the book. Even the ones that we love to hate. I think they everyone had their own role and it tied in perfectly with everything. The relationships between friends, family and even townspeople are both saddening and wonderful. There are ups and downs but ultimately, love win.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I read it in almost one sitting and didn't want to put it down. I was just drawn to all of it. If you are looking for a light-hearted (ish) book with a cinderella (ish) feel and love conquers all, then this is the book for you! Just remember there's more to it then that overall theme that you might think you are getting. Well done, Tucker. I can't wait to see what you do next.

This is not the usual type of romance that you expect from this author. It is still as good as you would expect. The romance between Catherine and Rhett is described as a fairy tale. So it is not unique but Catherine and Rhett along with little Brenna make you fall in love with the story and with them. Catherine had a rough life. She went through a rebellious period and had a few self esteem issues. Someone that she trusted and someone that should have helped her, took advantage of that. She was ostracized by her classmates and her town. Pregnant at 18, she finds herself alone and scared. Fast forward 6 years later and we find that she has managed to eke out a quiet, modest living for her and her daughter, Brenna. After her heroic rescue of superstar Rhett, her life changes dramatically. Her privacy is invaded and secrets are exposed. On top of that, Rhett is hot! Is his attraction real or is because she saved her life? Catherine struggles with this question and takes some convincing to face her fears and move on with her life. I loved the story and the characters. They all were well developed and easy to love. Brenna added smiles and laughter with her questions and comments . Gotta love kids. Each side character added definition to the main character and helped define who they were. Great story!

Until It Fades is by far one of the bests stories I've ever read. It's almost like the modern fairy tale story, Cinderella. This 6 star story made me cry, smile and swoon. It left me downright speechless.

Catherine was at the right place at the right time in order to save Brett. Catherine as been through so much. A single mom, waitress on welfare. She really works hard to give her daughter a good home. Brett an NHL hockey player almost lost his life in a car accident, until she pulls him out. When he first meets her, it's love at first sight.

I loved this storyline so much. This original story had me fall in love with the characters that were perfectly created. I can't find anything wrong with this amazingly written story. I was hooked from the blurb to the last page. I read it way past my bedtime. Trust me this is a must read.

Standalone told in Catherine's POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

K. A. Tucker says in her afterward for this New Adult romance that some people might consider Until It Fades a trope-y book. I am one of those people. If a celebrity romance book and a Harlequin single parent story had a baby, it would be this book ... but I'm not saying that's a bad thing! She also calls Until It Fades "light (for me.)" I agree that this is much less angsty than her prior titles.

Catherine -- a waitress and single mom who has overcome a lot of hate in her small town after a high school affair with a popular teacher that got him arrested --is driving home after a bad blind date when she comes across a car that's smoldering after a recent accident. She calls 911 and drags the surviving victim to safety.

Unbeknowst to her, the man she saved is a hockey star and the son of a movie star (covering all the celebrity bases here...) Catherine, fearful of media attention after being slut-shamed by town gossips years ago, doesn't want to be identified to the press or to the hunky guy she saved, who is not only gorgeous but seems desperate to thank her.

Until It Fades was fun to read. I'm a big fan of most romance novel tropes, but interestingly, I thought this book would have been fine without many of them. The book keeps flashing back to Catherine's past. I didn't think was necessary to do that quite so much, as for me it slowed the action down in the present. It also slowed down the romance - this is definitely the slow-burn kind and more PG-13 than her prior books.

The story puts a bunch of obstacles between these two -- her fear of notoriety, her fear of another heartbreak, her child, his fame, her strict parents, their differences in social class -- but to me the strongest parts of the book were just a few of these obstacles: her fear of being used and discarded by him and his gratitude to her and fear that his accident will end his career. At times I wished the book had spent more time on the emotional connection between them rather than having her obsess about her past quite so much.

Still, this is a great summer read. If you like slow burn, hunky hockey stars, and single parent romances, definitely give this a try!

I love anything by K. A. Tucker that I've ever read. I know that I'll always get a quality story with developed characters and stunning writing when I pick up her books. She's an insta-buy author for me.

Until It Fades is different from her other books, though. While we're still treated to all the good qualities of a classic book from K. A. Tucker, we get something new. Something just as fantastic as what we're used to. This book is a lighter and sweeter side of her.

Until It Fades is a slow-burning romance with absolutely no thought to rushing the main characters together. The slow pace made perfect sense for our heroine, though it drives you wild when you know the couple belong together. Trust me, this isn't a flaw in the story. The pacing did nothing but lend believability of the story.

I've never really read a sports romance before, but it didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the story at all. If anything, I think I'd be more willing to read others now that I've dipped my toes in the water and had a pleasant experience.

Whether you're already a K. A. Tucker fan or if you're new to her work, I think Until It Fades will be a winner for most everyone that enjoys a sweet and slow-burning romance.

I loved this book. I loved the slow burn love story that unfolded for Catherine, our sweet young heroine.

She had made the foolish choice of trusting someone unworthy early in her life and she was still paying dearly for it when we meet her. She is getting by in her life, but just. She is tough and independent and takes help when she needs to but feels guilty for not being able to get by just on her own.

I really felt like I knew Catherine and I admired her for her bravery and empathized with the embarrassment she still felt over the things she had happened when she was still in high school.

Brett, our hero, was pretty awesome in his own right. He is rich and famous but he is also a nice person who is very grateful to Catherine for saving him, while also valuing her separately as a person.

The secondary characters were well written, they were likable and flawed, but all managed to support Catherine through her trials and tribulations.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance, especially slow burn romance.

This is the 2nd book I have read by this author. I LOVED the suspense and intrigue of He Will Be My Ruin and while I knew that this was different from that book and more on the romance side, after reading I felt that this book was just ok.
Catherine Wright started off on the wrong foot as a teenager having an inappropriate student/teacher romance. Being in the limelight for her relationship wasn't something she ever wanted to experience again until it came to the night that she singlehandedly rescued a man from a burning car.
And not just any man but hockey great Brett Madden.
Catherine is trying to make ends meet while being a single mother to her daughter Brenna and she is not ready to be thrust into the spotlight again.
But Brett makes her feel things, want things that she has pushed back into the recesses of her mind. And what begins is a journey into healing for both—emotionally for Catherine and physically for Brett but more than that a look into a different future than either predicted would happen after that one fateful night.
So I enjoyed the last 60% or so because readers will finally get to see some of the romance though to be quite honest, it wasn't enough and I wanted more. I didn't feel these characters connections and I wanted to so so badly. There were so many times that while Brett said his feelings weren't based on his gratitude to her for saving his life that I couldn't help but feel like it was because they never really had a chance to get to know one another, or really talk outside of their first meeting and him thanking her for saving his life. How could feelings really grow from one encounter?
And while I initially liked Catherine's backstory and her strength, at times I was bored and the story just felt repetitive.
Yes, I loved the fairytale aspect—the rich guy coming in to save his Cinderella of sorts type of story but I just wanted more depth to the story, emotions and feelings from the characters, less repetition and that little something special to make me fall in love with every written word. This sadly was missing for me for this one :(
That being said, I look forward to reading more books from this author. Maybe it's just me and you will love it!

This was my first book by KA Tucker and I can say it won't be my last! My TBR list is now full of her stories and I can't wait to dig into them. Until It Fades was a book that got me hooked form page 1 and I couldn't put it. I loved everything about it from the characters, to the story, to the chemistry between the characters. It was exactly what I needed.
Catherine Wright is a single mom who does all she can to provide for herself and her daughter Brenna. When a choice she made at 17 (and really 18) changes the course for her life path, she is thrown and does everything she can do support herself. When she ends up saving the life of a stranger, she didn't know the whirlwind that was going to soon follow her life. Will she let herself be happy, forgive herself for past mistakes or will she subject herself to a life of unhappiness?
Brett Madden is one of my new favorite male characters. He is he lovable from the moment you read his character. After being saved by Catherine in a car accident that took his best friend and teammates life, he wants nothing more than to take the person who saves him, what he wasn't prepared for was the connection to her and falling in love with her.
Everything about this story was amazing. It was an easy read and the story flowed together. I couldn't put it down and I was sad that it ended.

***4 ‘Things That Make Me Happy’ Stars***

Until It Fades is my first foray into the mind of K.A. Tucker (though I have a few of her books sitting in my TBR list) and didn’t know what to expect going in. I was prepared for drama, the description sets the tone perfectly, but I didn’t expect the roller coaster reactions ~ both good and bad ~ not only to the drama, but the very eclectic cast of characters that brought this story to life. It was sweet, smexy, funny and frustrasting (sometimes all at once) and I got caught up in Cath and Brett’s journey as they find that single moment can change the course of your life forever.

Cath’s past has never stopped haunting her and though she lives with the consequences of the choices she made when she was young and dumb, she is determined to ensure that her daughter’s present and future are bright and filled with love. I really liked Cath, even when I wanted to reach out and shake some sense into her. She’s a fighter and would do anything for her daughter, but when her stubborn pride kicks in, it tends to get in the way and has her making certain decisions that end up backfiring on her. Thankfully, with much prodding and manipulation, she does end up seeing that her may not be the best way and will own up to it without out too much fuss.

Brett is the golden boy of hockey and the you want to hate because on paper he has it all -Looks, talent and fame - And yet you can’t because at his core he is a good, hard working man doing what he loves. It really was hard to not fall in love with Brett, because he is the epitome of a good man with his feet firmly planted on the ground, or on ice with ice skates, and appreciates all that he’s been given. He does have a bit of an alpha streak and is quite determined, and even a little sneaky at times, but it just makes you want more of him.

The journey that Brett and Cath took to get to their HEA was bumpy, but given Cath’s past and Brett’s current situation, it wasn’t surprising the hurdles that they both had to get over to start to see the silver lining to the horrific situation that brought them into each others orbits. There was insta-attraction, once they meet physically, but I enjoyed the slow but steady, and a little frustrating, was their relationship evolved, with a little help from outside sources. It was all kinds of sweet, smexy and yet quite realistic which made their journey relatable and relevant in this day and age.

As I said in the beginning this is my first book by K.A. Tucker and I really enjoyed it. I loved how, even in the crazy that was going on, she kept things simple. The issues that are brought up throughout the book are handled realistically and make you question what your reaction would be if faced with them. I’m a huge fan of well written secondary characters and there are a plethora of them in this book and my, at times extreme. reactions to them prove that the author craft some quite unique characters to give the story more depth, Brenna was adorably precocious, I loved Lou and I have a little crush and Richard, but all of the characters will keep you on your toes. This book will bring out quite a few, and varied emotional reactions, but the journey is definitely worth it.

Until It Fades is a sweet and fast-paced read. The slow-burn romance is executed very well, the dialogue is fun and engaging, and the characters are all complex and developed. There is very little angst and drama, even through the surprising and realistic twists, and the plot really grasps your attention and takes you away.

K.A. Tucker is a fantastic writer. This novel has a solid premise and an amazing execution, especially as it deals with some rather sensitive themes. The writing is engrossing, which makes this for a pretty quick and entertaining read.

This is the first New Adult novel I’ve read in some time, and it was so worth it! This is such a cute and endearing story, with an explosive beginning that hooks you right away. It holds the steady pace through most of the book, with the narration shifting smoothly to the slow reveal of past secrets.

The entire novel is told from Catherine’s POV, and she’s a delight to read about. She’s a single mom who’s struggling to give the best possible life to her daughter, while trying to keep some really deep secrets about her life hidden away. Catherine, as a character, feels incredibly real, especially as we come to find out about her story. Brett is also super charming! He’s an interesting character who is going through a tough time, and Tucker really knows how to touch on that pain.

When it comes to romance, Until It Fades is the slowest of burns. There is a self of doubt and hesitation between Catherine and Brett, giving the circumstances in which they met. All of this is explored throughout the novel, so the progression of their relationship is great and really believable. We get to fall in love with them as a couple as they fall in love with each other. :P

I do have to say that the ending feels a bit rushed. The final twist doesn’t have that much impact, at least to me. The story leaves me wanting a little bit more, like something was missing. The final chapter is still super sweet, though, and it holds as a good ending to Catherine’s story.

In the end, Until It Fades is an adorable and quick read. K.A. Tucker shows us a different side of her writing, and delivers a well-crafted romance story. Fans of lighthearted romances with very little angst and drama will definitely love this!

Really enjoyed the story. Found the intro to the book interesting as for a change we got some background on the main character prior to her falling in love. Felt the attraction and the excitement! Would recommend!

A bit too light and fluffy for me. Not enough "feel good" moments to make up for the lack of story.

Thanks to Netgalley for approving me to read an early copy!!!

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews for this book, and the recurring comment that people are making that DIDN'T enjoy this book, is that "this is nothing like Tucker's previous books" and you know what, I AM PERFECTLY OKAY WITH THAT.

I am going to openly admit that Ten Tiny Breaths is one of the worst books I've ever read. It's one of those books where i was so nervous that my eyes were going to be permanently damaged because of my many eye rolls. I think I was cursing whilst reading it because everything was so cliche and I despised the characters and the romance with such a fiery passion that I think if you were looking at me while I was reading it and you managed to get into my line of vision, I would've probably burned your entire body.

BUT. I did find myself enjoying the writing style, and I promised myself in my review that I would give another one of her books a try, and I'm absolutely glad that I did because after He Will Be My Ruin and Until it Fades, I've officially become a fan of K.A. Tucker's works. I know, I'm shocked myself.

This book was a FEEL GOOD book, the relationships between the characters absolutely warmed my heart. I found the way Tucker approached the relationships to be totally realistic - a teenager rebelling against her parents, and eventually, they come to mend their relationship - i loved how relatable Cath was, and I understood her struggle to come to terms with the past, and how much she grew up in the story - from an angsty teenager to making a living caring for her daughter.

Besides the romance, I adored the relationship between Cath and her younger brother, Jack, I found their scenes heartwarming - and I loved how Jack was Cath's rock when she would have a breakdown about life - i don't believe we see a lot of quality sibling relationships in NA, but Tucker proves to be an exception.

The romance. I FREAKING LOVED THE ADORABLENESS THAT IS CATH AND BRETT. I felt like Cath and Brett had known each other longer than they did. I felt like i was reading about two best friends slowly falling in love with each other - their love felt timeless, as if they were made for each other and had known each other their whole life, even if they had just met. I also appreciated how Tucker didn't make a controversy about Cath's daughter - Brett accepted her because he knew she was a part of Cath - and i also appreciated how none of the other characters felt like Brenna was a burden for Brett to carry if he was going to date Cath - everyone naturally accepted her and that resonated with me.

The writing. Gah, how i love it when authors words make us feel. Tucker's writing is captivating - she gives you just enough detail that you feel like you're in the moment with the character, but she also doesn't burden you with every single unnecessary detail - there was a fine balance (although i felt the pacing of this book was sometimes off! Especially in the beginning i thought things moved a little too slow for my tastes, but it picked up fairly quickly!) and again - i've always thought Tucker was an amazing writer - even when i was suffering through the travesty that was Ten Tiny Breaths I told myself i would come back to this author's works because i knew she would tell a story that i would fall head over heels for - and i was right. this was that story (although i want a sequel to this book - i thought the ending was slightly abrupt for my tastes!).

Be sure to pick up Until it Fades in store and online June 27th!!! You won't want to miss out on this beautiful love story!!!!

If you've read K.A. Tucker's previous books, you'll probably find this to be a more straightforward contemporary romance than her previous books. The lead character, Catherine, leads a somewhat difficult life as a waitress and single mom who has struggled since being ostracized by her small town for her relationship with her art teacher, a member of a prominent local family. She's driving home from an unsuccessful blind date when she witnesses a car accident, and stops to help, rescuing the car's passenger just as the car is engulfed in flames. Of course, it turns out that the car's passenger is a handsome, successful hockey player from a Hollywood family, which means that Catherine's desire to stay anonymous to protect her daughter and herself from further local scrutiny is going to be a challenge.

There's not a lot of nuance in this story, and not a lot of surprises. Catherine and Brett fall in instalove, and sure, there's some complications along the way, but nothing that really seems like it's going to impede the flow of the romance. I enjoyed the writing and the characters, and even the story because I like contemporary romances just fine. This has potential to be popular beach/pool read this summer, because it's easy and a good fit for romance fans.

I love K.A. Tucker's He Will be My Ruin and I was so excited when I got approved for a netgalley ARC! I love romances that involve hockey players, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Unfortunately, this book was boring as shit. It follows Catherine, a single mother of a five year old daughter, who is a waitress in a very poor town. One night after a terrible blind date, she stumbles upon a car accident and somehow manages to pull this guy (who is twice her size) from the wreckage before the car goes up in flames. Later on, she discovers that she saved an extremely popular well-known hockey player, Brett Madden, who is also the son of Hollywood actress Meryl Price (I know, the name makes me cringe too, it's too similar to Meryl Streep lol.)

I enjoyed the beginning of this book a lot, and I liked the prologue, seeing how Catherine originally got pregnant, and the drama of her sleeping with a teacher. I thought it was so interesting and entertaining. I thought the small town she lived in was described very well, and I definitely felt the desperation for her to get a job and make money.

I guess the main problem I had with this book is that it's advertised as a romance, but there is zero romance in this book until past the halfway point, and even after that, the romance wasn't written very well in my opinion. This book gets extremely repetitive about Catherine dealing with the drama of wanting to stay out of the news after saving this hockey player, and the press harassing her for interviews and photos, etc. I was skimming through conversations about Catherine wanting to be left out of the magazines and not on the news, and she doesn't want her daughter to be forced into the spotlight, and for her old past to be brought up again. They have these conversations over and over and over again. Like WE GET IT, you want nothing to do with it, and you don't want your name in the news.

This book just follows a really boring repetitive cycle after the accident happens. Catherine spends every minute talking about it, thinking about it, trying to remain anonymous, and it's so repetitive. She just goes to work, plays with her daughter, and talks with her family about her situation. Then once Brett finally makes an appearance in the story, the romance is so cheesy and cringe-y and they start texting each other a lot and I just wasn't really feeling the romance.

I don't know what happened with this one, I wanted to love it but I just couldn't. I'm still willing to give more of K.A. Tucker's future books a chance though, because I think she's a talented writer, this book just wasn't for me.
