Classic Katie Fforde. A light hearted love story with a happy every after. Beautifully written. Lovely to curl up on the sofa with.

An enchanting, light-hearted and heart-warming romantic saga which is a relaxing read and captures your attention to the end. It is so easy to fall in love with all the characters in the book. You are magnetically drawn into this magically carefree world of kindness, emotional setbacks and happiness.
As the story shows “There is definitely love in the Secret Garden.”
If anyone is looking for something cheerful to read, I would most definitely recommend this.

Lighthearted and fun, this is a book to enjoy and will brighten your day. It is the story of love, at all ages and includes baking and a secret garden! What more could anyone want? The book follows the relationships of Philly and her friend Lorna, along the path of true love, meeting with adversity along the way. The characters are beautifully written and very real. You become invested in their lives and really want everything to end happily. With the inclusion of cakes and gardening as well, this is a real feel good read.

I have read and enjoyed all of Katie Fforde's books, but freely admit that I found her last two titles a little disappointing and rushed. All of Katie's books are written to a formula, I have not problem with that as I love this genre, but the last two just did not do it for me. This one does and I am delighted to say so.

Three couples in this story: Philly living with her grandad in a battered old house and making a living growing and selling plants; her grandfather spurred on by the Great British Bake Off churning out cakes. Along comes Lucien a young chef.

Lorna, in love or thinks she is with Peter who she has known all her life and who owns the local stately home. He finds something younger who he falls in love with - not the nicest character in the book and I would dearly love to know what happens to their relationship. Few gentle hints from the author, perhaps saving this up for another novel?

Then Anthea, mother of aforementioned Peter, who is widowed and lives alone and then strikes up a friendship with Sean, grandfather of Phlly.

All delightful with a background of baking, cooking and gardening and all woven together into a happy ending. Thrown in some snobbish parents, worried Irish parents and a godfather who likes his drink but is looked after by an evil Mary Poppins who watches him like a hawk, and you have a lovely mixture.

Read it straight through and loved it

Another great book by Katie Fforde. I must admit I didn't enjoy this one as much as some of her others but even so its a lightweight feel good read.

More beautiful storytelling from Katie Fforde. This book has wonderfully described settings and characters that you really care about. There were enough plot twists to keep me interested and I finished it in only two sittings. I would love to see a sequel as I think some of the characters have another story to tell, especially Kirstie and Leo! I would definitely recommend this book.
